Catalina Course at Omni Tucson National Golf Resort & Spa
About
The Catalina Course is one of two golf courses at Omni Tucson National Resort. It is more well known than its sister course, the Sonoran, since it is both the original layout and it has been host to over 30 PGA Tour events over the years. The Catalina Course is a traditional parkland layout while the Sonoran offers true desert golf, as its name would imply. The challenging design incorporates eight sparkling lakes and a total of 80 bunkers strategically placed throughout. The 18th is touted as one of the finest and most demanding finishing holes on the PGA Tour. This tricky par 4 leaves little room for error with water along both sides of the fairway, it also requires a blind tee shot to a well-protected, elevated green.

#16 plays fairly steeply uphill. I was 16 inches for a birdie, after hitting a solid 135 club from 109 out. Photo submitted by Jonathan5270953 on 08/14/2013

Catalina Course Review
The check in greeting, pro shop staff, and starter were excellent. Practice range set up was a bonus. The course was in great shape.
Good esatablihsed course
The catalina course at Omni Tucson National is very good. The whites are 6600 and provide plenty of challenge. Greens are in good shape and challenging to hit, frequently protected.
My favorite part about this course is that I think it has the best trees in Tucson. These are not desert tress, these are big trees lining the fairway frequently and genuinely affect your play, in the good challenging way, especially on 11.
Average hack
They had recently aerated the f/ways, but other than that the course was in great conditions and the staff is superb.
Nice Day
Course was in great shape and in is pretty long but very playable. Had a great day despite the 10 am tee time in July.
Excellent views
Excellent play with chanllenge and great views, staff has great C.S. just a wonderful course to golf at.
Art
Course was in good condition, weather could not have been better for July. Towel person was a little late, found us on 18. One of the best ranges in Tucson.
Sonoran
Course in great shape. Greens are fast yet not too fast. Fairways beautiful. Enjoyed the round very much.
Great layout with beautiful mountain surroundings
We lived in Tucson in the 1970's. Tucson National was the premier course in town. In my opinion, it still is. The Catalina course which is where the Tucson Open was played many years ago has not changed much at all. No need to change. It has the same teeth and beauty that it always has had. I could play the course twice a day for a month and not get tired of it. Plus, I would face a new challenge each day because of its character. I am a senior golfer now and the back tees are not on my radar. Moving up to the shorter tees are even more of a challenge at 6400+ yards. The fairways had a few bare spots (but only a few) Not bad for a course that has suffered from six months of no rain. Give me the National any day. I love it. National always brings me back home.
my experince at tucson nayional golf course
great condition fun course ill go back one of tucsons best top 5 in my opinion lots of sand
Awesome course
Evrything about this course is perfect. The staff is extremely friendly. A parking garage. Marshals driving around with cold towels. The maintenance of ghe course could not be better. Wil, be back for sure.
Tucson's Best
Omni Tucson National is a rare gem. This beautiful resort has ammenities for the whole family, but the real excitement is the 36 holes of heaven. There is a desert course designed to challenge even the lowest handicap player and a traditional 18 holes with wide faiways and soft greens. This 36 hole championship golfers dream is the ideal stop for any golf vacation. The courses are in excellent playing condition. After the round , Legends Bar and Grill provided the perfect 19th hole exerience with excellent food and a relaxing atmosphere!
Challenging Course
Have to hit a straight ball to stay away from trees and bunkers. All the greens were elevated so plan on using a little more club. It's a nice layout with water hazards and sand bunkers.
Nice course.
This is a very fair course to play. No surprises, it's all right in front of you. I love playing here.
Monsoon
First time in Tucson. First time on this course. First time experiencing a monsoon. Too bad they all occurred on the same day. Didn't get a chance to finish 18 holes. Played with a couple from the area. They were so much fun. Was told this is the first rain in months. Well that's my luck.
Outstanding resort course
Golf course was in great shape. This course is a fair test for all skill levels. I would recommend this course to anyone that is looking to play in the Tucson area. The golf course staff was friendly and helpful, making for an enjoyable round of golf.
Hot in the summer but plenty of shade trees.
I love an old and established golf course and this one is a great example. Plenty of shade trees when its hot in the summer and water on about every third or fourth hole...trust me, you'll need it. Hope you enjoy the experience as much as we did.
Awesome
In a word Awesome, even with punch greens and some sand., but there was very little affect on putting the ball rolled pretty well. Course is AWESOME.
Very fair golf course
Excellent golf course, First time there staff were very helpful. Greens were awesome for June. Fairways in great condition. Very nice practice facility. Cant wait to go back !
Love this course
Great course always in good condition. I love more than anything when going as a single they let you have your own cart. I love that!
