The Catalina Course is one of two golf courses at Omni Tucson National Resort. It is more well known than its sister course, the Sonoran, since it is both the original layout and it has been host to over 30 PGA Tour events over the years. The Catalina Course is a traditional parkland layout while the Sonoran offers true desert golf, as its name would imply. The challenging design incorporates eight sparkling lakes and a total of 80 bunkers strategically placed throughout. The 18th is touted as one of the finest and most demanding finishing holes on the PGA Tour. This tricky par 4 leaves little room for error with water along both sides of the fairway, it also requires a blind tee shot to a well-protected, elevated green.

Nice course, a must if you are in the area.

Played for $55 using GolfNow. Free range balls before the round. Very nice layout. Best greens I've been on in years. Starter was very friendly and helpful. Very challenging approach shots. Good sand in the bunkers. The marshal was somewhat annoying, kept saying we were behind but the group behind us never got within a hole of us. We did have one guy in our group that took way too much time but still we never got out of position as far as I was concerned. Tough first time play since you just don't know where to go, would play much better next time. Should have GPS on the carts, I had my own so np but a must.

Play their sister course (Sornoran)

A convaluted layout. They provide you with a map to go from the 9th green to the 10th tee box. Course was in great shape but I played their sister course after playing this one; far more picturesque

Traps and More Traps

The Sonoran Course is not for the average golfer. The traps are many and the fairways often narrow on this desert course. The greens were well maintained but relatively slow and pocked with foreign grass. I enjoyed the scenery of the mountain views and the delightful weather, but was very glad I had paid a deeply discounted rate.

#9 on Catalina Course is Amazing

The whole course is great, good for most levels of play. #9 must be a signature hole. Green is guarded in the front with lots of bunkers. Once you get on the green and look back, the view knocks your socks off. The mountains fill the vista with a beautiful blue sky to set them off. And getting to the green involves a dog leg right, water and bunkers. What a great place to play

Traditional Golf in Desert

For a high-end resort, the staff was very laid-back and casual. Business when it came to golf, but low-key otherwise. Course was visually appealing. Various tees made it enjoyable for all levels. Our foursome had one player at the back tees, two at the white tees, and one at the forward tees. Recommend to anyone.

Good resort course

Beautiful scenery of the Tucson area. Played next to longest tee box for 14 handicapper and scored close to expected score. Course was in great shape and would play again. Some of areas are not as finished as expected for a resort course - cart path is dirt instead of cement in areas. Did not have the usual cart guys to clean and deliver clubs to car - I could drive right to car and do myself - which I prefer!

Parkland course in Desert Country

The Catalina Course at Tucson National was a welcome relief from desert and rocks on a golf trip to Arizona. The course was a little wet, which was strange but generally played OK. It is very flat and fairly unremarkable but was a pleasure to play (and not lose so many balls). Nice finishing hole where you have to jump over water twice. The facilities were also very agreeable. One minor point was the directions to the course, which were wrong.

Quirky layout

The course conditions were superb. The greens were quick and true and everything was lush. The staff was extremely friendly. I did find many of the holes to be quirky. Standing on the tee it was often difficult to get a decent feel for the hole. One of the holes goes straight up a hill. The views were great however.
"Condition of the course top, layout meh!"
