A real shame
The conditions at Randolph North have reached, in my opinion, an all-time low! Fairways cut tightly and finding any grass under the ball is difficult. The greens are hard packed and will not receive an approach shot. Tee boxes are hacked up and barren. The rough is splotchy and I found several spots where water was still standing but the fairway was bone dry. Sad to see!
Good confidence building course
The city of Tucson is notoriously broke, so I'm really not that surprised their courses are barely playable. In all honesty, Randolph is a great course to play while honing your game. No, it's not the best Tucson has to offer, and no, it's not in the best shape (very dry and most fairways are hard) but it is wide open with no real OB, and very minimal hazards. The greens are good enough to putt accurately and the tee boxes are flat. If you are a player that wants a solid, confidence inspiring course to play on, for $25 in mid-May, it can't really be beaten.
Nice course layout.4
Interesting municipal course. Enjoyed it. Do miss not having the water holes on #9 and #18.
Randolph (North) Golf Course
Randolph has long been one of the jewels of the Tucson golfing community. Having watches both the PGA and the LPGA play tournaments on my neighborhood course was quite special. The course has length, fair yet challenging well bunkered greens, and interesting holes surrounded by beautiful mountain views. With two wonderful yet quite different golf courses on the Randolph golf property it is a special destination that I frequent with regularity.
Course greens very very rough
The course scheduling had lots of singles, twosomes rather than
putting together foursomes. Made the course slow. We let a lot of singles play thru hoping they would all join up and make foursomes. Didn't happen
Greens very rough oil all over greens on back nine. Mowers must have oil leak.
Clubhouse expensive order 1 shot of bailey's and a med. ice coffee $6. Cup of ice 75 cents never had to pay for ice.
We will not golf or recommend Randolph Park or Dell Ulrich again.
Pretty normal Tucson conditions
The course had fairly standard conditions for Tucson this time of year. The tee boxes were great, the fairways were good, and the greens were very dry. The greens were pretty patchy in some places, but that's normal in early spring. We saw a drink cart on the 2nd hole and didn't see her again the rest of the round. Luckily, we were prepared, but I'd expect a little better than that. Pace of play was just fine. All and all, it was a good day of golf.
City course
Course conditions were poor, staff really wanted to be somewhere else. Can forgive some @ conditions, (water is expensive here), but staff is inexcusable. Would not play here again. Also price posted on Golfnow said 50% off, was regular rack rate. No discount!
Nice Course
Fairways are straight and long for the most part. Some nice challenging holes. Played with three others really enjoyed ourselves. The pace was a little slow but manageable.
Nice feel on this old course
Had a great experience on the course and a nice day. Looking to do it again.
The true meaning of Value.
This is a true gem. The overall course conditions doesn't rate as pristine but it is better than a moderate rateing. The greens ran smooth and were quicker than most. I will put this course on my come back again list.
Best public course in Tucson.4.5 stars
Got the early bird special for $35 with cart. I was pleasanty surprised by course conditions. Fairways were green and have a thick grass similiar to Northern courses I play. Greens firm rolled true and held wedges. Traps maintained but a bit thin. This course in the heart of Tucson is easy to walk and still has some nice Mountain views. Plus you have the A-10 jets(Tank busters) practicing nearby so you get an occasional take off /approach. The sound of freedom. Most fairways are tree lined but are wide and ample enough to shape tee shots. It remided me of the Muni I grew up on a bustling city all around yet peaceful and quiet on the course. The Par 5 16th is the signature hole on course. Well played Par or Birdie Miss a shot or dump one in water double. Not an April Fools joke. This course was in better shape than many semi-private I 've played for 40+ bucks, I want to play it's neighbor Del Urich and then take in a U of A baseball game. Plus bought a polo for 7.95.
this course has great features
All you can play is a great plan this time of year. I highly recommend it
Course is in fantastic condition
One of the best courses I've played in the last few months.
I will be back soon to play again .
Good layout, not great condition.
I like the layout of the course, a classic example of a good course. However, the fairways were quite dried out and hard. The course needs attention--water and more care.
Forgiving open fairways
Maintained fairways, open and forgiving. The course is in good condition and is a good value for fees paid. Greens in good shape and consistent. Would play this course again, enjoyable round. Pro shop is well stocked.
OK Muni for the price
My wife, son and I played this course while visiting in Tucson. The price was good for the quality of the course. It was in relatively good shape for the price and there was a variety of holes.
Fun Track.
Nice track for a challenge, but you must stay on fairway, if not it's difficult, but that's how it should be, would recommend.
Not the best value.
You can play better courses in the Tucson area for the same or less money.
