Surprisingly good muni course.

I went to this course because I heard the LPGA had played events here. I was pleasantly surprised by the layout. It presented some nicely designed holes that were anything but typical of a muni course. The grass used on the fairways is however, pretty typical of a muni course, but well kept and playable. I was not a big fan of the "dirt filled" bunkers, which is a popular thing to see on many AZ courses...even nice ones. Overall though, a good solid layout that was fun to play.

A surprise in the middle of Tucson

Randolph North is conveniently located in East mid-town with plenty of parking. The course is large and you can almost imagine yourself playing in the country with its wide fairways, mature trees, squirrels, pond ducks, birds, and green grass. It is a challenge due to length, but not overwhelming for the moderate beginner.

great beginner course

Fairways are nice and wise open and of you miss your fairway you can find your ball in the other fairway. You don't lose as much balls here. It is kept in good condition, greens are ok. As always sand traps are hard dirt. The rough is high so follow your ball.

Very Slow Play

Two of the people in my foursome left the course after 9 holes took us 2:45. The third person left after the 10th and I left after the 11th. The fairways and greens were in good shape and well maintained.

Ramdolph North

Hadn't played the course in almost a year. Is in considerably better condition than last year. Pretty good shape for a city-run course.

Condition is good but rough is difficult (thick high grass).

I like to walk this course. Avoid hitting into the rough. If you can find your ball, good luck getting out.

Old and mature course.

This is a very old and mature traditional style course. Many very large pine and eucalyptus trees. Long and very challanging for the average golfer. Holes 15 and 16 are worth playing the course to see.

Randolph has a reputation for slow play and it is true.

The course condition is generally good but has room for improvement. The staff has people who are always friendly and accomodating and also has a number of dismissive people. The course is a great layout with plenty of length and variety. If part of your game is off you will pay for it. The course is fair. The pace of play is usually over 4 hours. I was first off the tee and as my group was making the turn the starter put two groups on number 10 in front of us and the second nine took 2 hrs and 45 minutes.

Good Public Course

Not too bad for a cheap public course. Fairways were in good condition but some of the greens were a little dead. Slow greens but they roll ok. Course is not that difficult but that is expected for a public course. Overall for the $ I don't think you can get much better than this course.

Municipal Tucson course

The course is in great condition, with good greens and fairways. Both have been watered and maintained. Sand traps are frequent, but normal for the desert. Price is somewhat high for a municipal course, based on my experiences, but lower than most on GolfNow.

Carts are not great, GPS did not work well, and staff did not activate them before starting.

my fave muni in Tucson

I like this course a lot. Its in very good shape, greens and fairways, tee boxes, etc. we played on a very windy 20 mph plus gusts day and they were nice to let us go earlier than our tee time as they must've had some no shows. pace of play was good. holes are interesting and require shot strategy. not enough water or opportunities to lose balls, so that's a plus for us. lots of trees if you stray off the fairway and there you can have some trouble. you will have a fair amount of players from other holes in your fairway but that also means its an excellent walking course. I will play here whenever I see a good deal on this site.
