Nice course but poor conditions.
I enjoy the course but since the LPGA left the conditions have gone to the dogs. The course is always packed in the winter months and must make some money for the city. Too bad they do not maintain as it should be.
Great Muni in Tucson
We played Randolph North golf course on a Wednesday and the course was ful but not crowded; pace of play was easy to maintain. This track is fairly long for our foursome of seniors. The fairways are wide and allow for a nice runout on most drives. There are many mature trees lining the fairways, so hit it straight! The greens were overseeded and completely covered, rolling to about a 9-10 on the stimp-meter; fast but not lightning fast. These greens are really large, and while the placements were tough, things could have been much harder- I'd make sure not to make a tee time after a tournament set-up. All in all, this was a nice golf experience- I'd go back.
Tucsons best city course!
I played at Randolph north, in my opinion this is Tucsons nicest city course, it's the only one I would come back to, nicely kept greens, not overly crowded, nice staff.
Fair with challenges
Randolph may not be as high profile as other course in Tucson, but it a good course and can offer a challenge to all levels of players. Course knowledge is helpful on a few holes, but generally everything is right in front of you. Hit good shots and you will be rewarded, hit stray shots you can pay a penalty.
Good muni course. A fair test of your game.
The course was in very good shape for a desert course, city owned. The greens were quite fast, but many pin placements were "pro" type, not for your average handicapper. Traps could use some sand but I know they are working on a shoestring to keep greens fees down to entice play. Overall a good test at a fair price. I booked another round for tomorrow.
Challenging course but good for a long ball hitter.
Some greens need attention but overall the course is in pretty good condition.
Course in good condition for this time of year.
Enjoyed this course as it was in good shape for this time of year. Play was rather slow for me but was fairly crowded on this day and time. Both these courses at this location are fun to play.
The yardage is challenging for a city course.
The course has improved since the last time I played it over 8 months ago. Some attention has been given to the bunkers since they were not hard like the parking lot. Also, the greens were exceptable but a little hard. Overall, the course was playable though a little wet in some areas due to excess watering. The restrooms on the course still require attention and yardage markings are lacking. They could inprove ones experience by having combo tee boxes on the score card. 6500 yards for a 15 hdcp in his 70's is a bit much. A combo of boxes that pay 5700 to 6000 would be nice.
Greens and fairways in great condition for desert golf
The course is in great shape this winter. Several improvements made since last year in making several holes even better. Always enjoy playing this course and service at grille room is always good.
Fairly good shape but yardage not accurate
We had a foursome play the course on Jan 30th..Overall the course was in good shape but it did have some issues.. It's been a few days since we had heavier then normal rains in Tucson but the course still showed it.. Water in quite a few bunkers and some areas were still unplayable which was a surprise..The yardage estimate on the cards on at least 3 holes was No were near accurate..When the card says 382 and you it takes a good drive and 2 solid other shots using a utility club to get to the green something is not right..It wasn't just me that seen the descrepancy..We had one person with a GPS and he confirmed the problem..These holes were on the back nine at Randolph North Course.. We will go back and play it again when it drys out and see if anything was corrected..Overall though a nice track but not like it used to be when the LPGA Played here..
Course is in great shap
The green were in excellent condition. Service cart could come by more than once.
The course need work.
The fairways were dry and barren in spots. The greens were far from top condition. Not a good value!
Very challenging course, length and design and at times pin placement.
I love this course the first hole is eay to start and the front nine is challenging due to length. The back nine is more difficult and makes you concentrate to finish strong. Course was in very good condition.
Course should have senior tees!
Took a little too long, but it was nice weather. Greens were very fast, but rolled true!
Course too long
The course plays too long for seniors and ladies. should have some tees <5,000 yards for ladies and ~5,500 yards for seniors.
Winter in Tucson
We selected Randolph for its layout and accessibility. teamed up with John and Gary and played well for a quite chilly morning. The fairways and greens were in excellent condition but the morning chill gave us some challenges here and there. The course is well maintained and amenable to doffers and pros. This is one of my city courses.
Wintertime perfection
The course was busy on Friday, as usual. Pace of play was 4 hours and 20 minutes. Seemed like longer because we had to wait on each hole. It is much better to play during the week. The greens were lightning fast. If you were above the hole the possibility of 3 putts was more likely than not. The fairways were in good condition and the Cart Girl was wonderful.
The rating system from GolfNow doesn't allow you to choose something between "Needs Attention" and "Pristine" or I would have picked it. The same thing is true of challenging. Golfnow needs to change that to more accurately reflect my opinions.
Course has alot of water
When you play this course you better have your game on or alot of extra balls.
