Crooked Tree Golf Course in Tucson has a traditional layout in a secluded, peaceful location with no homes around the course for miles. The golf course features player-friendly, generous fairways and small greens that are surrounded by ample chipping areas. Located in the Sonoran Desert, there are ironwoods, mesquites, and saguaros situated throughout, providing a beautiful landscape and a relaxing atmosphere. It is no wonder that Crooked Tree Golf Course is one of the most popular public golf courses in Arizona.

Transition taking hold
Even though the dummer and fall have been very warm and dry, the winter rye grass has come in nicely. The greens are still kept a tad hairy, but looked in great shape for cutting tighter as temps cool. The green grass areas play nicely and the dormant Bermuda is typically tight. Traps were very acceptable.

Muni course
It's a muni course with lots of play and notm in the greatest condition. If you ride be sure you don't have loose dentures they may shake out

Needs more work
The course is coming along. Greens were very bumpy and very slow still. After playing Star Pass I could not get the speed down. Pace of play was slow - but it was a Sunday. Give the course some time..and some extra care and it will be good. 52.00 for a round is way to much. I got it for 25.00 which was fine to pay.

Not worth the drive
Its been a year since we've played. Every time we return we know why its only once a year that we play this course. Sand traps aren't sandy, they're rocky. Cart paths are horrible - big potholes and in BAD need of re-paving. If you're off the fairway, the cut is rocks and sandy soil. I keep hoping, at some point, they would put a few dollars into improvements .. alas, they don't...

Great fairways, shaggy greens
Breezed thru front 9 in 1.5 hr. As a a2 some we got behing foursome on back who had 2 hole gap ahead and wouldn't let us thru, so we cut in early skipping 1 1/2 holes. Fairways in great shape. Greens slowest I can ever recall playing in Tucson. If beyond 15 feet, put putter away and use your 3 wood to putt.

Crooked Tree
Play this course may once a month. Normally in pretty good condition however, re-seeding was recently done and greens bumpy with long grass. My son & I decided to go with automatic 2 putts. If you want play this course I would suggest waiting for about 3-4 weeks for the greens to improve.

Terrible course conditions. They had to use white lines to outline the greens to differentiate them from the fairways. The bunkers were full of rocks. The layout itself is flat and uninspiring.
On a positive note, it took less than 2 1/2 hours to play following a threesome the whole time. The staff were also very friendly and helpful.
Overall, I can't recommend this course. There are so many other courses in the area in the same price range with better conditions and better scenery.
