Needs some attention.
Greens were in good shape. Center of fairways were good . Anything off the fairway was hard pan. Bunkers were full of rocks and if you tried to rake them you didn’t move any “dirt”. Just a hard crust. Pace of play was 5 hours and 13 minutes.
Excellent greens; rough around the edges
The greens are in great condition and the fairways are fine. But if you get off the fairways, it is pretty rough—and not because there is any grass. Otherwise it is a good course.
Good time was had by all
Played crooked tree a second time. My wife and I were paired up with 2 very nice guys. The only issue was that one of the guys was not very good, spraying ball after ball OB. That just slowed us down. Conversation was good and the course was in decent shape. Lot's of dry patches but this ain't the Ritz! The person in the pro shop was very friendly and actually gave us a small bucket of balls.
Will play there again
Played Crooked Tee for the first time. Good experience. I played the back/middle combo and found that fair. Course is in OK condition. Fairways were ok, greens were a little better than OK and bunkers were dirt. Pretty wide fairways. Not a great course but we will go back again. Pace of play on a Sat morning was a little slow. Took 4.5 hours. We were a 3some but we waited on almost every shot. Now awful but not great either.
Lump of coal waiting to be a diamond
This piece of property could be groomed to better suit the playing public! Greens and fairways are in decent condition. Bunkers are poor at best and seldom groomed on the weekends. Get off some of the fairways and you are having to look thru weeds and dried up tumbleweeds. Often times you Ball has mud on it even though you landed in the grass! Worth the price we paid, but not the premium price of $49.00! Come on summer rates!!
Fun course
The greens and fairways are in great shape - the course must have been fertilized recently. It’s a good layout with 2 par threes being over water to hit the green and the 4 par fives being quite accessible to hit in regulation for a senior golfer. It has 3 tees and 2 combos so you have 5 sets of tees to choose from. The greens are medium size and reasonable in shape and slope to putt.
Staff personnel are really friendly and the “cart lady”is super.
Now, the bad - there is plenty of space left and right of the fairway to keep your ball in play, but a large portion of the course is not grass or properly watered and therefore dirt and rocks. Unless you play “casual golf”and move your ball off the dirt and rocks, your, score and your clubs are going to take a hit.
The sand traps seem to be some sort of dirt mixture, and are not fluffy sand. All traps were machine raked, but because of the heat, and wind, were very and if you wanted you could “pick” them.
Overall, I think it is a decent muni golf course and the prices they charge for a round and cart are about the best around, example Golf Now has hot deals at $25 a lot of the time.
Best value in Tucson
I’ve never seen fairways in Arizona as nice as this, I thought I was playing in Michigan. Except for the scenery, wow, greens are tough, length even from whites is long, what a great course, thank you Tucson Crooked Tree.
I had real bad experience with staff.
Staff was not friendly.
Won't Play Their Again
I've played Crooked Tree 3 x in the past 3 months. I've concluded there are multiple courses around Tucson in much better condition and at a better bargain. As a result I do not recommend this course. Crooked Tree is a boring layout, Most holes look the same. The rough is essentially raw desert, tee boxes are uneven. Greens don't hold iron shots. Cart paths are in terrible condition. There are better golf options to spend your money.
Another great round
We enjoyed our second time playing this course!
The weather was beautiful!
Fun Course
Greens were in very good condition. Tee boxes also good. We liked the Combo tees. Challenging holes with green fairways. We will be back to play again!
Slow play for the day
The course was in pretty good shape including the greens. The problem was extremely slow play. On almost every hole we had to wait 4-5 minutes to hit our shot. On one 3 par there was a 4 group wait! The staff was friendly but no Marshall to be found.
Excellent Course
Nice course. Great greens and fairways. Good value for the money.
March Golf in Tucson
We had a 11:16 tee time. I was told there was a half hour delay do to frost. Our group teed off at 11:50. The weather was very nice and the course was in good condition except for the bunkers. They were very crusty with dried chunks of sand/soil. It made bunker play very difficult. The course was crowded and it took us just over 4.5 hours to play.
won't be back
Kind of a dust bowl. Cart paths are worse than the Oregon Trail. Can't hold a green with a pitching wedge. t's either fairway or dirt.
Won't be back.
