Crooked tree great value
I play this course on a regular basis as a begginer. It's a fairly open desert course and is almost always in decent shape. I love the two par 3's over water. For the cost and course conditions it's really worth it.
Great Value for my Money
Great Value for my Money.
Course is is good shape, greens were soft and receptive.
I would recommend this course.
Great time!!
Very cordial staff and course was in great conditions.
Golf
The course was in great shape the round was great. THanks
A quick nine
Got a great price for 9 holes with a cart. Got there early and it was pretty open so they let me on right away. Breezed through nine quickly. Great time.
Great value
Great value; course in very good shape considering middle of summer in the desert. Cold water on every other hole was a great surprise; played many courses where they were more interested in selling their beverages than golfers well-being. played in less than 4 hours
Tee em up
I had not played Crooked tree in over a year. What I found was course in great shape and well groomed. The pace of play was nice and the greens were awesome.
Very good muni...
Played the Blacks (7062/72.2/132) as a single mid day. The weather was clear and in the low 100's. The POP was great, I played in slightly less than 3H.
The layout here has enough variety to keep things interesting. Good mixture of tee options every few hundred yards, which I find to be a plus. The tips require multiple forced carries over deserts cape, if you were playing forward tees there would be few forced carries.
The Bermuda tees were mostly lush with few unfixed divots. A few were humpbacked, but you could find level lies.
The Bermuda fairways were lush and were cut long in the heat, which produced little roll.
The Bermuda rough was a mostly lush with occasional hardpan close to the fairway. The rough around the greens is mowed down which makes for easier chipping. The farther you were from the fairway, the greater chance you were playing on hardpan or just sand like a large waste bunker.
The sand traps are pretty basic here, fairly flat with no large lips. However, they are not well maintained, crusty and mostly hard.
The Bermuda green complexes do not have alot of slope or tiers. They gently slope from back to front. They are relatively small for a course this length, firm and consistently putted slow. However, they rolled relatively smooth for Bermuda greens.
The customer service was excellent. Quick efficient check-in, and the friendly & courteous drink cart gal came by several times. For a municipal course, this is a good track, good mid level value course. A downside is that the carts do not have GPS and the course is not particularly well marked for yardages. Recommended = yes.
Good Day at Crooked Tree
Crooked tree has some of the best fairways and greens in the Tucson area.
The practice area is also very good.
The knock on Crooked Tree is once you are off the fairway be even a small amount you feel like you are always on ground under repair or virgin desert.
A really good improvement would be new carts and s true drop off area for your clubs so you don't have to hike them in from the parking lot.
Crooked Tree
Played the Blacks (7062/72.2/132) as a single mid day for $26 that included a cart. The weather was partly cloudy, humid and around 100. Probably because of that, the POP was great, I whizzed around in less than 3H.
My 1st time here, traditional desert layout. I was told that they stretched the course out by adding Black tees several years ago. Their black tees remind me of Camarillo Springs in So Cal where some of them are well off the beaten path. Several were tucked way back in places that created challenging sight lines with forced carries well off the original course. I felt like the course plays shorter than slightly over 7000 yards overall. However, the 485 yard par 4 and 252 yard par 3 still played LONG even in the desert heat and the ball flying farther than normal. Playing into a 1 club wind, 1st time I have hit Driver on a par 3 in a long time.

The sand traps were ib very poor condition. Luckily, all are flat with no or small lips, because they are crusty dirt, no real sand there.
The green complexes are relatively small for a course this length and do not have alot of slope or tiers. They gently slope from back to front and are Bermuda. While they were in decent shape, firm and consistent from green to green... they putt SLOW. However, once I got the speed down, I made some putts, they rolled relatively smooth for Bermuda greens.

Relaxing and fun round
Local course, nothing flashy, but good golf at a fair price.
Flat and forgiving
I picked Crooked Tree based on the recommendation of a friend who played there earlier this year. I had never heard of it before even though I have played many other Tucson courses. Pros: flat and forgiving, favors the straight hitter, greens are consistent and fairly true, green fees are reasonable. Cons: most par fours seem to be roughly the same yardage, cart paths are only partially paved and in need of repair, the bunkers are some of the worst I've ever seen. Trevino did a pretty good job with what he had to work with.
nice course
greens are true, but hard to hold. bunkers are not good
Pace of play great
We were a twosome and expected the pace of play to be very slow. To our surprise we played in 3 hours and 40 minutes. Greens in excellent shape, bunkers are terrible, standing water in many of them and crusty sand. Course needs some beautification and sprucing up. Cart paths are bad. would play this course again and recommend it to others.
Great course and friendly staff
I've been playing this course for 30 years, I love it. It's open but has challenges. It was windy which makes it more difficult. Greens roll true and nice speed. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Great course for the money
The course was fun.
I have not played this course in many years. It was fun. It was a very windy day which was not fun but added to the difficulty of the course.
crooked tree
I thought the course was in great shape, the greens rolled nice. The staff was very friendly and courteous, we had a great round and a good time, I would recommend this course to a friend.
