The Golf Club at Vistoso in Tucson has never seemed willing to cower in the presence of its resort-course cousins. Paloma and Ventana are golf resorts, but the Golf Club at Vistoso is just a golf course, and a fine one at that. This Tom Weiskopf-designed layout was a "readers write-in" Golf Magazine's "Top 100 you can play," and is a "sneaky" favorite among locals and visitors alike. The layout is nowhere near as penal as Ventana or La Paloma, and if you can find better greens in the greater Tucson area, let us know. Take note of the 166-yard, par-3 third hole -- on a clear day (there are only 323 of them) you will have an amazing view of the north side of the Santa Catalina Mountains.

Golf at Vistoso
This is a very interesting desert, target golf course. As a twosome, we played quickly and felt like we had the course to ourselves. The course is in excellent condition with the exception of the sand traps. They were very wet and had too little sand in them. The green were in good shape. The "deal" included lunch which was excellent.
05.10.14
I play regularly and all over Southern AZ, for other reviewers to post excellent conditions is misleading. It is not even close to what it was in its day. The course is average at best. On a Saturday morning, 7:00 tee time, it should never take 5+ hours to play a round. Marshall needs to be out there pushing people that are slow. Got the golf and lunch special and the wait staff was very slow and rude, (wanted tip up front before we saw the bill, never heard of such a thing, and was rude about it). If you live the in the Oro Valley area then its probably a good deal, but coming vail, totally not worth the trip. Oh did I mention the drunk dude that tried to explain why the wait staff was so rude, CRAZY!!!
Good value
Lunch was included, fast & delicious.
With free range balls this was an excellent deal on a challenging.course.
This course is on the mend to getting black to. What it use to be
The course is on the rebound from lack of continued maintenance, but still a great track. The promise of food after the round was a flop nothing we ordered was available. Nothing to do with the staff or people but a management issue.
Great Course
This is a challenging course and has some very interesting hole layouts. It is nicely maintained with especially well kept but undulating greens. It has the feel of a private club course but allows public play and the price was excellent on the day of play
Nice track
I liked the course, the greens rolled true and were not terribly fast but weren't terribly slow. My only gripe are the sand traps, every single one that I went in had very little sand and my club just bounced off the ground, skilling the ball.
A favorite track
Great course and a perfect day. Constant pace of play and no waiting. And lunch at the end was very good.
Great course. Fun to play.
Great course. Real good condition. Very enjoyable course to play. This course offers many challenges. Very scenic. Cannot understand why this course does n ot get more play. Maybe it is too tough for the average player.
Very nice layout.....greens were excellent
My third time playing Vistoso. Course in good condition, greens ran true, rough playable. Overall a golf course that is challenging; but enjoyable.
Fun Course
Vistoso is definitely a challenge (especially in 30 mph winds)! For $44, which INCLUDED lunch (anything off their menu, plus a soda/tea and chips), you can't beat it! Our group had a great time at this course and it was the first time I had played here in 10 years. Very challenging layout with most holes being typical desert golf (either in the fairway or in the desert). Course was in great shape and the greens were rolling true. The only thing that made this round 4 stars, and not 5 stars, was the pace of play. We teed off at 7:50am and our round was almost 5 hours. A lot of waiting on the back nine.
Going down the drain without water!
Disappointing to see Vistoso again depreciating by the month as lack of maintenance contributes to downward slide of course conditions.
Not only is the course failing low morale of staff is obvious in customer relations. Hopefully the owner can sell and new energy can bring
it back to quality of yesteryear.
easy on the eye
the course will get you to loose balls if you can't keep it down the middle. Back 9 is much tougher that one may think
Vistoso
Very nice golf experience. Played 14 holes in the late afternoon in around 2.5 hours. Some forced carries, with an interesting mix of holes. Well designed course. Friendly staff.
beautiful course
Vistoso is a great course. Challenging especially when the wind blows which it was that day.
The staff is very friendly and accommodating.
Bring a straight game
You have to have a straight game & 200 yd carry for this desert course. Target golf at its best. Big greens and very well kept. We rented a condo on the 17th green and watched dozens of golfers try to hit this 200 yard par3. About one in five hit the green; the rest played out of the cactus. Played 4 times this week. Each time was great.
Excellent Course but Tired and Needs Care
This is one of the best layouts in Tucson, but the condition of the course and practice range was pretty disappointing.
Nice challenge with good course conditions.
Greens were excellent and overall course conditions are great. Took us a while to play through a very slow foursome but after that we moved right along. The price included lunch and the food was excellent but the wait staff was a one person show. Overall great value for the money.
Play early
Teed off by 7:30 and though it took 4.5 hrs. I'vee played The views course for years and never seen this Weiskopf course.
Tee shots are intimidating for a 100 shooter like me. But I thought the course was awesome in design. Saw a rattlesnake cross the tee box on 14. Driving range next to the tenth tee allowed for a couple of very needed practice drives.
Spring Golf at Vistoso
Excellent course for the value. Carries over all tee boxes. Greens in excellent shape. Tee boxes need work and traps have uneven sand depth. Fairways a bit dry in some areas but understandable will the unseasonably dry and hot weather.
Excellent valur for a quality desert course
Vistoso is in beautiful surroundings and is an excellent desert course design. It was in good shape and is a challenging test of all parts of the game
