About

The Golf Club at Vistoso in Tucson has never seemed willing to cower in the presence of its resort-course cousins. Paloma and Ventana are golf resorts, but the Golf Club at Vistoso is just a golf course, and a fine one at that. This Tom Weiskopf-designed layout was a "readers write-in" Golf Magazine's "Top 100 you can play," and is a "sneaky" favorite among locals and visitors alike. The layout is nowhere near as penal as Ventana or La Paloma, and if you can find better greens in the greater Tucson area, let us know. Take note of the 166-yard, par-3 third hole -- on a clear day (there are only 323 of them) you will have an amazing view of the north side of the Santa Catalina Mountains.

A reccommended play
Beautiful desert course with outstanding scenery and views. Challenging with big greens, everything is green and conditions great. Would love to play again.
Not for beginners
Too tough to carry some of the holes if you are not that good. This course is beautiful, but is for the stout of heart.
When we get better, we will return.
Nice finishing touch to week long golf vacation.
Very nice facility. We arrived two hours early and they accommodated nicely.
Golf course was challenging, frequently more forgiving off the tee than many other desert courses we played.
Food was great and reasonably priced.
Greatly improved
A lot of money and effort has gone into improving the condition of the course. A great improvement
Great challenge
Good challenge for better golfers with several forced carries. Greens and fairways are in great shape.
Frost delay but no accommodation for that
Our 1:30 tee time was affected by a 2 hour frost delay. We understand that, but while other area courses converted to a shotgun start, Vistoso just delayed us 2 hours - to 3:30! No way to get 18 holes in that way, so we had to cancel.
Beau parcours, challenge
Beaucoup de défi sur ce parcours, bon entretien du terrain
Beautiful Location
We were able to take advantage of paying just $74 for golf and lunch. We were able to enjoy a delicious lunch on their patio. The course was stunningly beautiful.
Tough but rewarding
one of my favorite courses in Tucson. But the carry off most of the tee boxes was nearly impossible for my partner who is not long off the tee. I think this course would get more business if they brought the fairway in closer to the tee so beginners can get some roll and not have to take a drop after hitting a nice hard straight shot into the desert between tee and fairway. Love the driving range and practice facility. Top notch, and most beautiful setting.
pace of play
course in good shape but pace of was way too slow . waited on every shot. will try again.
Good course for the price
Pace of play was reasonable considering the course difficulty with off fairway desert and some fairly long carry off some tee's.
Tough course in gorgeous setting
Target-style desert course in good condition. Good value for $49 including practice balls and lunch
Vistoso golf
Course in very good shape. Challenging holes. Meal option very good deal, food very delicious
Great experience
Course is in excellent shape. A must play when visiting Tucson
Much Improved Conditions
I've been Vistoso for many years and it is in the best overall condition that I've experienced in 3-4 years.
Bavk to begin good
I have been playing this course mostly between Oct-Jan for the past 8 years and seen the course go from good to bad to worse in the last couple of years.
The overall course conditions deteriorated to a point where it was almost unplayable. With new management and a renewed commitment in place, I felt like the course is getting is charm back. The greens were good, fairways were lush and the tee boxes were in excellent shape.
Pace of play is still at about 4.5 hours, which is normal I guess when the sun is out and lots of people are on the course.
Fun round at Vistoso
Every hole is truly unique in this beautiful desert layout. There are a number of carries required over stretches of cactus, washes, etc that require a bit of strategy and shot placement. The greens and course in general are in beautiful shape and the views toward the Catalina Mountains are stunning. The staff was very helpful and the restaurant was very good for lunch. I hope to play here again before returning to the wet and cold of Seattle.
Not for a beginners
This course is not for beginners; nearly every hole requires a tee shot over desert terrain that requires a carry from 150 to 200 yards.
Great desert course for target golf.
I don't have much to say about the food; our group had a unfortunate experience getting lunch at the turn. We didn't get our sandwiches until we reached 14 and then the order was not complete!!
the the course is a good test
The golf course was very good
The restaurant was out of stock of most food
