The Golf Club at Vistoso in Tucson has never seemed willing to cower in the presence of its resort-course cousins. Paloma and Ventana are golf resorts, but the Golf Club at Vistoso is just a golf course, and a fine one at that. This Tom Weiskopf-designed layout was a "readers write-in" Golf Magazine's "Top 100 you can play," and is a "sneaky" favorite among locals and visitors alike. The layout is nowhere near as penal as Ventana or La Paloma, and if you can find better greens in the greater Tucson area, let us know. Take note of the 166-yard, par-3 third hole -- on a clear day (there are only 323 of them) you will have an amazing view of the north side of the Santa Catalina Mountains.

Needs water and attention
Sorry to see this course go this far downhill. With poor maintenance, a guy behind the cash register that could care less, this course will not be around long. Must say, the outside staff was nice and courteous.
Course in bad shape
Vistoso Golf Club used to be one of the nicest courses in the Tucson/Oro Valley area. I believe due to very poor management, the course is in very poor shape. The fairways and tee boxes appear to not have been watered for a while. The greens however were in pretty good shape. $25 for a round is not a lot but for the condition of this course $10 would be more appropriate for the conditions. You now have to pay for range balls (very small bucket). It's a shame because this used to be a very good course and the management has driven it into the ground. Good part about the round was I went out as a single and finished the round in 2 hours and 15 minutes.
Greens rolled nice
Typical Arizona Summer course conditions. Little dry in the fairways but the greens were in good condition and rolled good.
Another course that they are not maintaning.
Fairways are dry and dead. What a shame. Greens are still ok but you will need a hammer to place your tee. No water in ball washer. Shut down the ice and water at practice facility and nobody tells you. We saw the same thing when Az. National was in trouble. Oh wait this is another Wildcat trail course. I feel bad for the home owners and their investment.
Need sWater badley!!!!
Needs attention very dry and not a lot of water on the course very dry
Great course that has run into some hard times.
This was at one point a fine golf course. Range balls used to be provided, now you pay for a little bucket. No starter, snack bar closed. Fairways were hard a burned due to shutting off the water. On course restrooms were in need of maintenance. The greens were well maintained and recieved the extra water the fairways were denied as they (the greens) were very soft. Staff informed that things would look better "in season". Last visit for me.
Beautiful but challenging desert course
Staff was friendly, but a little short handed - no starter, Course was well maintained and greens were smooth and firm. Course has a beautiful setting and mountain views are spectacular. Course is challanging due to required carry off some tee boxes and desert outside of rough - really penalizes for errant shots.
This is a good test of golf.
We were pleasantly surprised by the overall condition of the
course. We teed off at 6:30AM, and played in 3.5 hrs. We will
be back to play again, as the price is great. Having played here
many times in the past, the course isn't what it was 10 years
ago, but it is quite acceptable, contrary to rumors we have
heard.
greens were good
golf now had an icon for range balls at this course and tee time and the guy behind the counter told me that you dont usually get range balls and i told him that this one did and he refused to issue my range balls that were included on the reservation. i got there early because range balls were included but he was insisting that they were not included. it was dissapointing that he was so uncooperative. I know that most dont include balls but this one did.
Course needs maintenance attention
Greens are above average, fairways & tee boxes require attention, overall the course is a great golf venue, however it is in disrepair compared to its prior condition
Tight but fair
Target golf is what you get here. Fairways a little sparse but plays OK. Greens look ragged but put good & true.
Over all a good course for the money
I would like the rest of the courses in Tucson would do the same and treat the it like you want people to play and keep it at a cost every one can afford.
great course from tee to green
this course is always great. From tee to green it was in very good shape. Greens were very good.
Course is nice, but could use some attention
The course needs rangers to speed up play, 5hrs is not acceptable. Some attention is needed on the greens, but the course could be even more spectacular than it is with a little TLC.
So, so course!
Had trouble making connection by phone.
Fairways are just so, so
Greens are very slow
Some sand traps are awful
Challenging but fun
Excellent course that presents lots of challenges. it helps to have played the course previously. if it is your first time spend the $5 and buy the course book or bring your GPS
Greens were great; course in very good shape
Greens were great; course in very good shape; thinking player's course with cross ravines and blind shots
Target Golf Great Track!
Couldnt believe there was a hot deal for $15 at 930am. Booked it right away. Greens were rolling about 9 and were nice. Fairways were ok but not great. Tee boxes were very good. Great views, very challenging design!
Nice course, but rude staff.
The staff was very rude and stuck up. I mentioned where I was from, and they had nothing nice to say about it. Also, I was placed the first grouping out after a Junior Tournament, but there was no Judge/Marshall out with the tournament. The kids were not monitored, and were being rude on the course marking their cards while on the green and not playing at pace. When I did see a Marshall to mention something I was dismissed, and told to jut deal with it. We were not the only ones that were being held up due to their extremely slow play.
A fine desert course w/ a unique and inventive layout. Greens good, but fairways need more watering.
A very fun golf experience on a fine desert course w/ a unique & inventive layout.
Greens were quite good. fairways were dry and somewhat patchy; needs more water. This should improve as the summer monsoon rains are just arriving.
