About
Chesapeake Golf Club sits tucked away in the idyllic village of Las Gaviotas, conveniently situated just 15 minutes from downtown Norfolk. Boasting some of the best greens in the Tidewater area, the club offers the amenities of a private club with the fees of a public golf course. The layout will challenge you with rolling fairways and tricky doglegs. Water hazards come into play frequently so be prepared for a few intimidating blind shots over water. Mature trees line the rolling fairways and there are also strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. The manageable 6,278-yard length is approachable for beginners yet there are still holes that long hitters will enjoy. Chesapeake Golf Club is a course that will test your skills but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper.

I knew I'm biased but Chad and the group are amazing. One of my favorite course.....
Excellent course!!!
Love the course and layout! Enough hazards to make it challenging for any level golfer without being too intimidating. The cart path could use some work but it doesn’t take away from the course as a whole.
Greens in bad shape
Very slow and bumpy greens with lots of patches of crab grass and weeds. Cart paths are in terrible condition. No bathrooms anywhere in the course. Cheap to play for a reason
Great Round
This was the first time I’ve played this course. The staff was friendly and helpful. I came up on a foursome that let me play through. I will definitely play again if I’m in the area. The greens were great considering the heat.
Think it thru
This course has lots of holes that make you think about the golf shot you’re going to make. I really like this course for this reason. Its major risk reward…be careful…lots of water hokes. But its doable if the right decision is made.
Great shape, slow greens
Course was in great shape. Fun place to play. Greens were very slow, but they had not been cut and rolled from rain the day before.
Great course; good value
The greens here are second to none in the area. Excellent practice/warmup area. It’s overall a pretty open course; there’s certainly water and sand, but not a lot of OB that I recall. A couple of nice water holes that make you choose between laying up and going for it.
The only reason I don’t rate this 5 star is because the 9th hole ends a good distance from the clubhouse. Not a deal breaker but when you make the turn and want a snack or sandwich; you have to drive your cart about 1/2 mile to the clubhouse. However, the cart girl does come around quite often.
Decent but not great
This course struck me as a nice resort course 30 years ago, but these days it shows it age. All grass was stressed, and it looked like regular maintenance was becoming less regular. It was an interesting but narrow course with greens that had many undulations, some making putting challenging bordering on impossible. If you get a deal, check it out.
