Chesapeake Golf Club sits tucked away in the idyllic village of Las Gaviotas, conveniently situated just 15 minutes from downtown Norfolk. Boasting some of the best greens in the Tidewater area, the club offers the amenities of a private club with the fees of a public golf course. The layout will challenge you with rolling fairways and tricky doglegs. Water hazards come into play frequently so be prepared for a few intimidating blind shots over water. Mature trees line the rolling fairways and there are also strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. The manageable 6,278-yard length is approachable for beginners yet there are still holes that long hitters will enjoy. Chesapeake Golf Club is a course that will test your skills but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper.

Challenging with good layout.
This was my 3rd time playing this course. First since Covid-19 hit, green were in great shape as well as fairways. Staff very friendly. Play it you will like it.
Great weather, slow play
The course is challenging. The setup causes multiple layups off the tees, causing major backups on tee boxes. One hole wait was longer than 15 minutes! Entire round lasted 5+ hours. Golf carts were not available at tee time. The cart paths are atrocious in some spots. But with faster play, the course is worth the money!
Asphalt Guys
What a great course this was to get back into golf after 25 years. Enough hazards to keep it interesting but forgiving enough that I only lost three balls.
Will definitely be back, hopefully when the grass is grown in and there are less aeration marks and sand coverage on the greens.
Overall good
Great course, tee boxes are average and greens have real good action as long as there isnt foliage. See a lot of people complain about this course, as long as you aren’t picky, you’ll have a great time.
Good experience
Honestly I was pleasantly surprised with this course. Great layout, well maintained and overall great time. Would definitely recommend.
Fun day at Chesapeake
Had never played this course but was pleasantly surprised with how well the greens rolled and the friendliness of the staff. Everything else on the course was pretty standard with decent fairways, bunkers, and general course maintenance. Not a bad course just not what I’d call nice either. Great staff from the club pro to the starter to the cart lady though.
Worst management around
10 carts waiting on the tee box, 45 min behind schedule solely due to over booking. Took 6 hrs to play 18 holes.
Excellent course for the fee
This course has lots of challenges but also has opportunities to score well. I enjoyed the layout. The greens are in fantastic shape. Well worth the time. Pace of play could have been better but the worst I've endured.
Greens are good
Been a while since I last played this course and was not disappointed. Will play again when my schedule allows
Challenging course
The greens and fairways are all in decent shape. There are several holes where the fairways are split near the halfway point, right where your first drive wants to go! Highly recommend.
