About
Chesapeake Golf Club sits tucked away in the idyllic village of Las Gaviotas, conveniently situated just 15 minutes from downtown Norfolk. Boasting some of the best greens in the Tidewater area, the club offers the amenities of a private club with the fees of a public golf course. The layout will challenge you with rolling fairways and tricky doglegs. Water hazards come into play frequently so be prepared for a few intimidating blind shots over water. Mature trees line the rolling fairways and there are also strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. The manageable 6,278-yard length is approachable for beginners yet there are still holes that long hitters will enjoy. Chesapeake Golf Club is a course that will test your skills but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper.

Golfer Reviews
Tight course and challenging!
If you’re looking for bit of a challenge, this course has it. It’s my home course, and I’ve had to play a few good rounds before I gave it a review. This is a course with a few tight fairways and some mean dog legs that go over water. Price wise is a stretch, so if you catch a good deal on GN it’s worth it!
Horrible Conditions
Played a couple days ago and those were the worst conditions I have ever seen. Should definitely shut the course down for a while. I would feel comfortable taking money with the greens in that shape.
Almost unplayable
The course used to be really good but recently the greens have been terrible. They rarely pick up the phone I wouldn’t waste the time or money
Greens are Horrible
Used to play here all the time but as of recent the greens are unplayable. Wouldn’t spend full price to play on greens like these.
Attention Needed
.I recently had the opportunity to play at this course for the first time, and I wanted to share some feedback regarding my experience.
First, I would like to commend the pro shop staff for their excellent service. They were friendly and helpful, which is always appreciated.
However, I did encounter several issues during my round. The condition of the golf carts was disappointing, and I found the fairways to be mediocre at best. Additionally, the rough around the fairways and greens appeared overgrown, which made play more challenging than expected.
I also noticed that many of the greens had minimal grass coverage, with significant areas of bare mud. One green, in particular, had so much sand that it resembled a bunker, which was quite unusual.
I believe the layout of the course has great potential, but the current state of playability detracted from the overall experience. I hope these concerns can be addressed in the future, as I would love to see the course back in top shape.
Worst greens in the area
If you don’t want to read the whole review, as a summary for the cost of a round here you would be better off playing elsewhere. I have played the majority of the courses in the HR area, so figured I’d give this a go. Clubhouse staff is friendly, Marshall as well. Fairways are in good shape, not as manicured as others but who cares. But boy the greens are terrible. This is just 1 of the probably 14 or so that looked like it. I think maybe 1 or 2 are playable. Otherwise, your best off doing a 2 putt max and moving on as it is basically ground under repair conditions.
Course condition could not be worse
Fairways have nothing mode in a long time... Greens were covered in what appear to be asphalt but probably a dried up fungus. Cart paths are horrendous. Struggled through 7 horrendous holes and called it quits.
Strongly suggest you skip golf if this is your only choice.
Terrible Conditions
Greens and tee boxes were dirt, rough was high. I've played here before and this course is in terrible shape. I could not recommend to anyone unless the greens fee was maybe $15.
Save your money.
They couldn’t pay me my yearly salary to waste a day off and golf here, all I see is the owner is talking about how there working on it and trying to get it back to a good course again but hard to believe when the clubhouse looks like **** the pro shop is like a dollar general. SELL THE COURSE TO SOMEONE WHO WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT AND ACTUALLY APPRECIATE THE LAND FOR A GOLF COURSE
Horrible condition
This course is in horrible condition. The fairways have not been mowed and the greens are absolutely atrocious. You could not pay me to play here again. And then the new owner is like we’re working on it. We’re working on it. He’s been working on it for the last year, we just saying responses to everybody’s reviews.
This was a great course At one time, the new owner has definitely let it go downhill
