Out of the way, but excellent conditions, good layout and more than EXCELLENT pace. Was like own private course. For better player suggest playing Black tees not white. White many short par 4s. Small greens and lots of bunkers. Many greens are long but not wide. 18th probably don’t hit driver or into water/pond. Think they should have a sign on tee with distance to the water. Only water on course, big pond totally across fairway until green.

Another great round. Only complaint is there was some slow tournament play ahead of us and we had to wait for a ruling on one hole. Held us up for awhile. Perfect conditions otherwise.

Course is still a big name in the game. It’s the kind of course you wish you had a caddy to help with decision making. With a few plays I think that could help. I kept reading reviews about the greens being extremely small and the fairways being wide open. I wouldn’t get caught up in either. Course plays great. If I had to nit pick anything it would be the shared boundaries between a few holes and some of the locals don’t rake the bunkers, they just leave footprints like they haven’t a care in the world. Tip: you can play the black tees. I played the whites and used my three wood all day.

The course is a true championship level course. Very challenging but a joy to play.Love the course

This course is in great shape! A bit challenging with lots of elevation, but who doesn’t like a challenge? Great resteraunt. I recommend it to anyone who hasn’t played it before. Give it a try, you’ll enjoy it.

The course is in good shape except the greens are like concrete!

Always a pleasure enjoying a round at this course located within a residential neighborhood. Since new ownership took over several years ago, improvements to conditions and amenities keep coming. Tee boxes could use a bit of TLC but nothing "teeing it up" cannot correct. Fairways are lush and green and provide expected roll. Greens are large, undulating and quick.

We recently began staying for a post round beverage and bite and have been thoroughly impressed by the courteous, warm and welcoming staff as well as the high quality of all food selections that have been sampled.

This course is a frequent selection in our rotation. Compliments to the owners and all the staff that continue to make this course such a draw.

I did write a previous review about the course and staff. I loved the course and had a ton of fun but had an issue with confusion about a tee time that I believe was a golfnow error as well as a personal mistake. I reached out to Roger Adams, the PGA pro at the course and received a respectful & thoughtful response. I understand that I made an error on my end and he was able to share with me, his perspective on everything as well. Because of the way he handled the situation, I will be back and will be sharing this course with friends and family as well. Again, ignore my previous review, the course is a lot of fun (if you are up for a challenge) and definitely different from a lot of Central Florida courses and the staff/management is clearly serious about keeping their guests happy! I look forward to returning very soon!

This Dye course was everything we expected. It's a true links course with open fairways, lots of wind, elevated greens and heavily bunkered. It's a challenging and sometimes grueling test, but a unique experience, one you'll be thinking about long after your round is complete.

STAFF MAKES GOOD COURSE SEEM AVERAGE. I did play the course and enjoyed the layout for the most part. However, I did not realize I made two tee times one for Saturday and one for Sunday. I missed the tee on Sunday and was charged (this is the first time this has ever happened to me). I contacted golfnow and they reached out to the course and explained what happened and they refused to refund the charge. If they don't understand that people make mistakes and are not willing to refund a single tee time, I have no interest in going back. What amused me most is when I played on Saturday as a single and was paired with a couple for a total of three. The two groups ahead of me on were 3somes and the group behind us was a twosome so it's not like they were selling all of their tee times anyway.

Also, their range has no nets so the terrible golfers slicing it on the range (which there were plenty of) covers the 18th fairway in range balls. So good luck to anyone who puts their tee shot in the fairway or right side on 18, you will not find your ball.

I play courses all over the central Florida area and Black Bear is among the leaders in condition and quality of greens. Our group kept commenting on how good the fairways and greens were.

Great course, tiny greens, but roll very well. If you aren’t in the fairway be ready for an odd stance or off angle lie. Very challenging but didn’t lose any balls and i typically lose many balls, could have been a good day but course layout fit my game well. Hot dogs were solid too, the starter was awesome and we finished our round in under 4 hours.

I love to play this course. Great layout elevated tee boxes and elevated greens. It was tough today with the wind, but still a great time.

As always, Black Bear was great…..certainly a challenge…..couple of smallish greens are extremely tough…..great track and wonderful personnel…..

I have been playing black bear for 20 plus years and the past two years it has been in the best condition for at least the past 15-16 years. The management has done an excellent job making sure the course in in shape. Everyone is super friendly and very accommodating when things come up. Recommend playing the Bear!!!
