Black Bear Golf Club

Many elevated greens make for a challenging round. Overall the course is in good shape - worth a play.

I enjoy playing Black Bear. It's always in great shape.

Great course for the money. Greens are really small. Alittle to small but worth the drive and the 50 bucks!!

Usual Pete Dye challenge & frustration… but great day!

Good layout (except 18 is a little unfair for a finishing hole.) Friendly staff, especially the ladies in the bar area.

This course is now a must play for my trips to Orlando!

We liked everything about this course!

Some courses struggle to have nice fairways and greens but not Blavk Bear.

Aside from course conditions, everyone was friendly and we enjoyed our round. If we want a well stocked pro shop, they have it. If you want excellent food and drinks, you got it.

Look forward to being back this fall.

Worth the drive from Orlando

Nice course, friendly staff had a great time!

We played as a 2some on a day where rain was possible so traffic was down. We got around in 3:40. Great variety in holes. Lots of undulations and mounding so some blind shots although mounding often funnels wayward shots back to the fairway. Numerous bunkers, some hidden from view. Bunkers were deep and because of heavy rains in the past couple of days were not yet cleaned up. Greens were generally raised and very small so accuracy important. Some patchy spots although they rolled true. Would have given the course layout a 5, but for the 18th hole, which has a pond across the fairway that is 100 yds to carry with no bailout possibility.

Pace of play was awful and we played at 8am. Nice layout but poorly taken care of, greens 3/5, fairways 3/5, rough 1/5, price 3/5. No beverage cart. Would never come back. Play deer island, same price and way better. This is nothing but a goat track.

Out of the way, but excellent conditions, good layout and more than EXCELLENT pace. Was like own private course. For better player suggest playing Black tees not white. White many short par 4s. Small greens and lots of bunkers. Many greens are long but not wide. 18th probably don’t hit driver or into water/pond. Think they should have a sign on tee with distance to the water. Only water on course, big pond totally across fairway until green.

Another great round. Only complaint is there was some slow tournament play ahead of us and we had to wait for a ruling on one hole. Held us up for awhile. Perfect conditions otherwise.

Course is still a big name in the game. It’s the kind of course you wish you had a caddy to help with decision making. With a few plays I think that could help. I kept reading reviews about the greens being extremely small and the fairways being wide open. I wouldn’t get caught up in either. Course plays great. If I had to nit pick anything it would be the shared boundaries between a few holes and some of the locals don’t rake the bunkers, they just leave footprints like they haven’t a care in the world. Tip: you can play the black tees. I played the whites and used my three wood all day.

The course is a true championship level course. Very challenging but a joy to play.Love the course
