South/North at Fernandina Beach Golf Club
About
South/North is one of three golf courses at Fernandina Beach Golf Club. The facility is home to three distinct nines that form three different 18-hole combinations. Winding through thick forests of oaks and pines, Fernandina Beach Golf Club's South/North course offers a glimpse at native Florida wildlife. The South nine depends more on accuracy rather than distance while the north nine, the shortest in length of the three, features undulating greens. Water hazards also come into play throughout the golf course. Fernandina Beach's 27 unique holes are made even more appealing by the affordable rates and convenient proximity to Jacksonville and the beach.

Poor condition
Play this course often and the condition has went downhill as of late. Greens are slow and long and fairways were more like hitting from the rough with many bare spots
We played all 27 holes on one day
We played after heavy rain but the course drained well and we enjoyed the south and north courses so much that we decided to play the west course too. The latter has very long Par 5s. The quality of the fairways is not great and some of the greens are in poor condition but the overall experience was enjoyable. Very friendly and accommodating staff. The club's central location on Amelia Island is very convenient. We would recommend the course to anybody who is not too fussy. Advice: bring mosquito repellent!
OK Value for Money. Spend more and play North Hampton
The course wasn't in near as good of shape as I remember it being. I had to move my ball every time in the fairway just to find a good spot to hit from and the greens were just ok. The South course was in better shape than the North. Pace of play was also slow. There is no ranger on the course so my partner and I had to wait on 4 straight holes while a father attempted to teach his two kids how to hit a golf ball. We would make it to the tee before they would leave it and still wouldn't allow us to play through. They were also waking while we were riding and had a clear course ahead. The only thing that will bring me back to this course is the price and only for the twilight rate. Even without the slow pace of place this isn't worth $46 or even $35.
GREAT COURSE
Tee boxes and fairways were excellent. All greens were in good shape and rolled smooth.
Same ol' course
The course is on its way back to LOUSY! The greens on there way back to Bad.Off the edge of the fairways are like hitting out of a trap. The price is absolutely ridiculous for this course!!I can't say enough bad things about this place.Sad part...it doesn't need to be.
Great day at the course
The overall condition was great and the weather was wonderful. I would recommend this course to others whether a beginner or more seasoned golfer. The staff is friendly and always helpful.
Great public course
Good winter greens. Fairways were winter thin, but it is February. Long course. Average player should play from the green tees.
Nice Course Excellent Value
Great value, moderate difficulty. Not many hazards nor no long carries. Excellent course for high handicappers. Pace of play was slow because of a tournament. Usually, pace of play is very good. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Snack bar food is very good and very quick. Will come back often.
This course was a waste of money.
Had one person at counter line backed up to pay.Had to wait on carts , sent to play south course was backed up at tee box 8 carts deep. A lot of confusion just getting started & even more again at the turn.
Prepare for a draw on the 1st hole on the South Course
I enjoy playing there the staff is friendly and the course is in great shape. For the money cannot be beaten
Save your money
Played all 3 nine holes the course offers. It could be a very nice course with the proper manger. The grounds including the course needs a lot to care. Plus attention to very slow play. Pay $10 more and play the two other courses nearby.
Stick to the West Course
I did the North course for the front 9 and then the West course for the back 9. The North course was not very good or well maintained, but the West course was beautiful. What I would recommend, and what I did for future visits, is do the West course twice. If you do that, then you'll have a really good experience. The West course is of good quality.
Challenging and fair - not much water to avoid.
Staff was friendly and accomodating. Some fairways and cart paths were on rough condition side - most greens in good shape. Minimal hazards/OB's.
Very reasonable in cost and then discounted further (25%) with GolfNow, (which proshop did not offer to match in advance).
Nice course - prize ok
The South course was much better than the North course. Very much players - slowly game!
Great greens. Good drainage.
Course was in really good shape considering all the rain we've had. Greens were very well kept. A fun course.
A very nice staff and facility.
This is an average course and a good value for the money. A little closer mowing on the fairways would have made a major improvement.
Maintenance required
From a retired golf course owner and superintendent the course lacks the attention to detail to bring in public play. An example would be green condition. The greens had been aerified recently probably within the last ten days. A necessity I realized how ever they had not been mowed that day (Sunday) and were very slow and rough. The mere action of cutting the greens would remove the highs and make the surface puttable. I would guess this course needs a influx of capital to revamp and encourage workers to take more pride in what they do. Also the cups had not been changed in five to seven days and were very ratty on the edges.
Course has potential
I have played this course a number of times thru the years. Each year while on vacation/ This year the course was rough. The tee boxes needed grooming and the greens had recently been aerated and sanded. The greens were really rough and putting on them was atypical for this course. I may play there next year, but not the remainder of time I am here on vacation this year.
course can be one of North Florida's best
fairways lies weren't tight it seems that more seeding was needed to promote grass growth instead of what appeared as a hay affect even close to the green approach.
In other words no carry on drives.
Course wasn't in good condition.
The greens weren't good at all. They were aerated and balls were bouncing everywhere. Overall course condition wasn't good at all.
