North/West at Fernandina Beach Golf Club
About
Fernandina Beach Golf Club is home to three distinct nines, the North, South, and West that make up three different 18-hole combinations. This 27-hole facility boasts a unique configuration on each of the nines for a truly diverse golfing experience. The North/West course at Fernandina Beach Golf Club combines the longest nine, the West, and the shortest nine, the North. The North nine features undulating greens and water hazards but the generous, wide-open fairways of the West nine make the golf course accessible to players of all skill levels. Native foliage in addition to towering oaks and pines throughout the course allow for a scenic escape in addition to an excellent round.

Worst fairways on Amelia Island.
West course was in decent shape. Greens were goods. Tee boxes best I’ve seen for this course, need to be leveled though. Can’t find a flat stance in any tee box.
South course is horrible. Trees are overgrown on first hole making an almost impossible shot on what was already a tough golf hole. Fairways are either dead grass that looks like it was recently laid or dirt. Greens are nice. A lot of tee boxes are nothing but dirt as well.
Course design is fun and challenging just hard to find a lie. Playing partner constantly found a big chunk of crab grass behind his ball making it impossible to strike ball first in rough and on fairway.
Awesome place to play on vacation, great layout, great people!
Good value for the money.
I've been playing this course for years as a regular visitor to the island. The staff is friendly and courteous. The pace of play can slow from time to time but is generally pretty good because they manage the flow to the three 9 hole courses. The fairways can vary in condition but the greens are in great shape and roll fast and true. For the money especially with the afternoon and online rates it's hard to beat the value for your money!
The course has tremendous potential. The city/owners need to put some money into the course.

Couldn’t Play
Unfortunately we could not play as one of our guests was ill. We enjoy the course and the convenience of the Golf Now App.
Tried calling to see if we could get a credit to come back and play.
Appreciate your consideration

Problems with GolfNow
Booked course through GolfNow for 3:22 on June 9. Huge storm hit while in parking lot. Told by starter could get money back from GolfNow and directed me to web site. No human on GOLFNOW phone.
GolfNow website had no way to get credit for washed out round. Disappointed with my experience with GolfNow.
We are sorry to hear you were unable to play your round and of your experience with GolfNow. If you need further assistance, please feel free to reach out to us at info@fernandinabeachgolfclub.com.
Course not maintained very well. Fairways had patches of crabgrass and dirt. Greens were good but sand traps were not raked . Disappointing experience and not worth the money

Course with Potential
The course has a decent layout and could be a nice facility, but it has a few things working against itself. First, the layout (West Course), although relatively straight, is extremely long and narrow. It could be a fantastic challenge for those who like to push themselves. However, the fairways are covered in weeds and bare spots. I had very few decent lies in the fairway. Second (and probably most frustrating), you don't have the choice (or even knowledge) of which two of the three nines you'll be playing. We arrived an hour before our round to warm up, and it wasn't until 20 minutes before that we knew. There should be a way to reserve the pair of nines you'll play, particularly if you want to play a more challenging or relaxing 18. That situation is maddening. Lastly (and sort of a minor point), the starter leaves at 1. So, if you are told the starter will tell you which courses you will play when you check in, but your tee time is after 1:15 or so, and the starter is gone, you're left scratching your head. Fernandina Beach could be a much better course, if they spent a little time on the fairways and improved the reservation / communications situation.

Terrible shape. Can’t believe I wasted my money.
Tee boxes are never flat. Alway teeing off on a hill. Today half the tee boxes had no grass, felt like teeing off in a bunker. Fairways on the south course were 40% grass 60% sand. Can’t believe how bad the shape of the course is. Greens were not perfect but rolled pretty good, perhaps the only bright side of the course. Not worth it though when every shot in the fairway felt like a fairway bunker shot. And every tee box you are sliding in sand while trying to drive.

Great day with the boy
Well for the first time playing this course. It was a very pleasant day with some great challenges for the average golfer. My son loved the experience and enjoyed the round and the people that we connected with. While the course was a little rough (I.e. tee boxes with more sand than grass, and the fairways a bit more brown than green) it is expected to be with the pandemic and not much rain but all in all. It was a good day out on the course with the boy. Well done Fernandina Beach Golf Club. See you again soon!
Thank you for your review! We are glad you and your son enjoyed your time at the course and we look forward to seeing you backs soon.
Sad state of affairs
Very simple. They have let this course go and don’t seem to care. Little grass on fairways not to mention tee boxes, and greens are horrible. We have played this course many, many time but feel it’s not worth the cost or aggravation. I consider this our home course but we will be playing somewhere else. Wish they would put some effort into keeping course at least playable.
Three Nine Hole Slots, Nice Setting
There are three nine hole courses: south, west and north. We played the south first which was a bit narrow at times but really beautiful. The north course was easier but less interesting. We had been playing at a pretty good pace on the first nine and then the starter dropped a threesome in front of us when we went to the "back 9" which slowed us down. The greens were just ok, but the fairways were in good shape. Good experience overall.
Thank you so much for your review! We are happy to see you enjoyed our course, despite the slow downs towards the end. We value your feedback, and hope to see you back soon.
Nothing Special
I've played courses public courses like this in much better condition. I played the West and South courses here and it is appparent not much of the money is put back into course maintenance. The vast majority of tee boxes are awful due to the lack of size and were concave and alot of the tee shot site lines were obstructed by overgrown tree trees/limbs. The cart paths are mostly dirt covered with tree roots and what concrete is there needs repair. The greens and sand traps seemed well maintained nice given the time of year.

Quick pace of play
Course is fairly tight but still had a good pace of play. Fairways were in great shape but greens were a little ragged and rolled pretty quick.

Nice little track, nice price
Enjoyed the day albeit the wind was coming from the north at 18mph continuously. Greens I’m sure will be better nice in summer. Staff very friendly. We played West/South nines.
Thank you so much for your review! We are so glad to hear you enjoy our course and wonderful staff. We look forward to having you back soon.
Disappointed
The overall condition of this course was disappointing. The greens were in pretty bad shape, divots weeds etc.

Good value for money
You can find nicer courses if you want to pay a lot more money but this is a nice course for a great price. I liked playing at off peak times so I often finished in a little over 3 hours.

Fast Greens Terrible rough
Played North and West Course’s. The greens and fairways were excellent. The rough around the greens was terrible. Very few flat tee boxes.
