Bent Creek Golf Course
About
Since the opening of Bent Creek Golf Course in 1989, the 6,420-yard, par-71 course has provided a challenging golf experience for residents of Northeast Florida and visitors alike.
Crafted by renowned architect Bobby Weed with consulting services by Mark McCumber, Bent Creek's meandering terrain takes golfers through a certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary, towering pines and alongside creeks and swales. The championship layout boasts Bermuda grass greens, plush fairways and a state-of-the-art lighted practice facility - home of the Bent Creek Golf Academy.
From the back tees, Bent Creek carries a rating of 71.6 and a slope of 136. The challenge starts with the first hole, which measures 538 yards from the gold tees, just 20 yards short of No. 15, the longest hole on the golf course.

Greens were great
The staff was very friendly and the course was in good shape. Club house staff was very helpful and the starter was cheerful.
OK for the $$$
Nice layout but tees and fairways a littl thin. Greens pretty bumpy; back 9 better. Decent value but nothing to excite you
Greens are a challenge
It was good to see the marsh wetlands cut back. The greens are somewhat bumpy but you can still make putts. Otherwise, the course is a great setup and a challenge. The tee markers need to be painted fresh as they are real faded. But you will enjoy playing this course.
Worst course in 2 years
I had a good scoring round today 78, but I have not seen a worse course as far as conditions and pace of play. This course is the worst I have seen in this area I have played many other courses in the last month. Greens were absolute junk; the driving range was nothing more than a sand trap. There were many tee boxes that were nothing more than sand traps. The sand traps themselves were nothing but very hard packed dirt. Then when finishing if the pace of play wasn’t bad enough, you could hardly concentrate on the 18Th because of the basketball game going on at the first tee. Will never revisit this course. Recommend all stay away.
Great value
Fairway grass was dormant but course was in good shape. Staff very friendly. Would play there again if in the vicinity. Amazing value.
Nice little tough course but slow pace is a distraction
The course makes you think about every shot. The slow pace is very distracting. Common courtesy when slower players should let faster players play thorough should be encouraged.
Just keeps getting WORSE
I play here often but, I am done. The Clubhouse smells the staff is ok normally however, this time Kevin was somewhat short and rude. The pace of play stinks here, they book the time times too close together! Tee boxes are not well kept and the greens start to look ok then they take a turn for the worst. I am done have been a regular there for years no more I will take my money down the road.
We appreciate your feedback.
It is critical for us to know where we need to focus our attention on to continue to improve.
Many of the issues you mentioned can and will be quickly resolved. As the course comes out of dormancy this spring, we will be working on any thin areas around the golf course.
Thank you again and I apologize for the bad experience you had on your last visit.
Fun Public Course in Jax
Bent Creek is a fun course, and for 34 bucks its a great deal. The greens were not in their best shape, because of the late cold weather, (they are usually better said a local). Still they were not bad, just slow. I was a little thrown on some of the holes with soccer golf flags along the fairway, and my Dad actually hit at one, so make sure you aim for the blue flag. Lots of water, so bring enough balls. Overall, its a great deal, but if your looking for the classic public course in Jax play Hyde Park!
Thank you for your comment!
We appreciate you coming out and giving us a try. We hope you come back and give us a try later this spring as the weather warms and course greens up!
Bent Creek
Bent Creek is one of the best municipal courses available in northeast Florida. The course is well maintained and a nice course for most any golfer. It is a good value $ and fun to play. The only drawback is the sand bunkers are more dirt than sand. Stay in the fairway and you will enjoy yourself.

Fun layout and creative.
First time playing this course. Drove an hour to get there. The club house smelled horrible, we entered through the resturant part. Smelled like vomit or spoiled milk. Our round was $30 the range balls were around $8 for about 50 balls. There were grass ranges, that were very Sandy and seemed to have alot of use, the balls were in good shape. The starter was very friendly and we were paired with a other two some. Course had a nice layout, curvy, hilly, water, both tight and open fairways. Course needed to be mowed and weeds pulled along the fairways. The greens were in okay shape but nothing to talk about. They were a bit hairy and slow. One of the guys had said they had a problem when they were putting down the winter grass. Overall I had a good time, was it worth the hour drive? No. But if I was in Jacksonville I might go again.
Tough Course for the Casual Golfer
Although I've played this course once before some time ago, I forgot how difficult many of the holes could be. Lots of places to get in trouble, and the course seems to play longer that the stated yardage. We enjoyed the course but might not return often due to difficulty.
Slow but good price on golf now.
5 hour round but day before new years eve. Greens pretty slow, considering the weather lately, that was a surprise. All tee boxes were really shabby, both the tips and the regular tees. Fairways were in decent shape. Very overpriced food. Definitely not the course it was a few years ago. Decent course for the price on golf now, but definitely not worth regular rates they are charging.
Pace of play super slow.
Nice course. Geens are a little slow. Pace of play was extremely slow, Five and a half hours to play 18 is rediculous.
Course Layout
The course had woods and water. The started at the beginning was great at explaining all of the traps and golf ball eating trees. We lost a few ball but nothing to complain about. The greens were excellent. There was some dew in the morning and the greens were still fast. A group of us ladies play at several different courses and we really liked this course.
Great Golf Day
Great day, course in good shape, greens a little rough after being top dressed but in good shape.Great deal for the money.Go play & enjoy.
Whe I played Bent Creek
I very pleased with the conditions of the course and the many challenges it offered. Many of the holes I grabbed for less than the driver to tee off. Plenty of dog legs, bunkers, and water.
Great Track, Give It A Try
Very enjoyable round, course is in good shape. Richard the starter was awesome--after learning this was my first time playing the course he gave me a brief overview of a number of holes and various tips and tricks, including asking for a banana split from the beverage cart (which I forgot to do, will do that next time, want to see what the reaction is to this inside joke amongst the course personnel). When I checked in to pay I was also asked if this was my first time playing and warmly welcomed. I will be back!
Best round ever at Bent Creek
I always enjoy playing this course, although the pace of play is usually pretty slow. Yesterday, however was phenomenal. There was no one in front of us, and no one behind either. The greens were in excellent shape. And the weather was perfect.
Tight, short course with smooth, quick greens
Highlights of the experiences were the staff. In the clubhouse pre-round, club pro steered me to cheaper, better balls than ones I was considering. Starter provided a thorough overview of course and upon finishing my first round here, clubhouse staff member came out to greet me by name, ask about my round and impressions of the course, and presented me with a certificate for a free greens fee on next visit. In terms of the course, greens were the strong point. Layout is short with lots of water and trees, and bunkers clearly are not a point of emphasis for maintenance (though there are quite a few of them). All told, the combination of reasonable cost, solid condition with good greens and outstanding hospitality will bring me back.
Need a Ranger
The course it self is in great shape, greens very nice!but was a Wednesday morning, weather was amazing and Thought i was gonna get in a very quick round, played the first 2 holes, never saw anyone, but on Tee 3, the Wait started. From the 3rd tee , i was stuck behind a 5 some. I guess or think it was regular but still, i Tee of at around 915 and ended about 145 or so... i will be back tough, great course, great price, friendly staff, Just need a ranger.
Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort Stay & Play Package
Thank you for your feedback. It is important to us as we strive to meet each guest’s needs and unfortunately we did not meet our goal during your experience. Our course conditions will continue to improve throughout the remainder of winter as our growing season approaches. We also have many exciting golf course improvements coming in the next year and we invite you back to experience them.
We host several fundraiser events for our community at the course throughout the year. Some of those events have on course contests to help raise additional funds. Unfortunately, the young boys and girls during our last event got carried away and caused some unnecessary distractions. Going forward, we will refine our on course contests to make sure to eliminate or limit any unnecessary disruptions.
We appreciate your feedback and we hope to make your next visit a fun and enjoyable experience.
