I have played this course many times. There have been a lot of improvements. The greens have gone from total crap to very nice! Great job.

That is not the problem. The issue is the course is being over-seeded and the fairways are extremely long. Rough length. My issue is changing full price knowing the course was in this condition. It would have been fair to offer a discount or at least disclose the work. Unfortunately, they didn’t do any of these things.

Additionally, the place of play was abysmal. 2.5 hours for 9 holes. I get it’s cart path only because of the work, but disclosing the work may have cut down on the amount of play.

Should have done what the Highlands did. Shut the course down for a few days and charge less the first week after opening. That was fair.

They should be closed during reseeding.

Fairways uncut and wet and muddy.

Unplayable.

The course was great, I really enjoyed the 9 I got to play. However, they shouldn’t have allowed it to be open to the public yesterday. There was a scramble tournament and no where to go for public golfers. I only played 9 because it took 3.5 hours. Very frustrating, however the course was amazing and in good condition.

I like the course layout. However, they had just over seeded so carts were restricted to cart paths. But that was not the problem. They had way overwatered the course for the over seed. Most fairways were mushy with a lot of standing water. A number of tee boxes were so soggy that we had to find alternate places to tee off. I will certainly play the course again because I like the layout--but I will wait a while. No warning on the website that the conditions would be like this.

Entire course was muddy due to over sodding if you didn’t hit a perfect shot ur ball is lost in 4 foot uncut grass. Fairways were a little over grown and completely muddy

I wish I hadn’t played on that day because they were overseeding the course and couldn’t ride in the fairway. The worst thing was that they had watered the entire course and it was just wet and soggy so on both tee box and fairways. I was getting hammered with sprinkler water trying to hit my ball. I would call the course first before making reservations. But overall I liked the course layout, very easy to play.

Course was super wet due to watering for overseeding. Cart paths only because of this but no mention of this when tee time was made.

Pros:

Good to Very Good Course Conditions mid-September.

Great design and 30 years of maturation. Nice Practice Area.

Longest par 3's in Richmond. (From the tips)

Lyberty at the front desk is friendly & wonderful!

Cons:

Cart paths are tree root nightmares after 30 years.

Driving Range grasses are bare/weedy on the center stalls.

14th green needs a re-sod.

Overall:

Fix the Cons and more good players will come here over Magnolia and Viniterra.

Course is in good shape. The greens are not great - but people don’t repair their ball marks.

Nise course but currently the greens are not the best but playable.

Great layout, would be so much better if people fixed their ball marks and the fairways were a little firmer (clearly they had some rain) and better groomed.

I would come back here to play it again and hope that the management puts forth the effort to let this layout shine like it should.

Play this course weekly. One of my favorite designed courses. Only issue is greens could be a little better

Wife and I played @ 96 degrees and had just rained heavily the night before. Course was soggy on at least 9 of the holes (playing in the mud - had not drained well) and on many other holes had cart path only signs due to overseeding. Made for a long day and miserable mess. Also saw numerous tee boxes and other areas with huge crabgrass growing, and a load of rocks in sand trap in front of # 18? We've played the course dozens of times over the years, but grounds need more attention. We've always thought a nice course for the change, you can usually score well, and at a fair price.. . .

Only played the front 9. Greens were the only downside, they were a little rough. Overall nice course and friendly staff. I would definitely play again.
