Birkdale Golf Club

Course has seen big changes due to hot weather. Fairways are brown and hard. Lack of grass was a challenge. Tee boxes are worn out. Greens were great and fast. The course was perfect a month ago. The staff is friendly and professional.

I play here 10-15 times a year...course is is good shape and the 18th green has recovered nicely. Play after 4 for $34 is a deal!!

The only negative thing I will say is that one of the staff members was a jerk the last time I played here. The cart part rules were not clearly posted and he was very unprofessional in his approach and demeanor. This was the only negative experience here and usually the staff is friendly. U also can’t beat the price of a bag of practice balls ($4 for a small bag and $7 for a large). I’d play here as often as possible.

Overall, course is in great shape. Best i've seen! Few tee boxes a little rough, but overall a great course.

The place was packed for Fathers Day but Mike had people moving on the clock. Well organized. The only downer was cart path only due to the rains the last few days but our foursome still enjoyed our selves. The group foursomes ahead of us were moving on a great pace. Awesome some job guys n gals. Great to see a lot of Dads outplaying with their kids.

Only giving 4 start things because there were a few areas under construction/ wet and roped off but with the weather we’ve had recently everything was in great condition. Friendly staff, pretty quick play time. Greens were really fast today

Nice course but pace of play was poor and the stacked groups behind you would make you feel like you were to blame

The course was in great shape and played pretty well. Be careful not to hit your ball off the fairway on hole #5. You might end up getting harassed and extorted by an old man that lives on that hole. One of our groups shots went toward his house and he came on the course and demanded someone pay him $20 bucks for the alleged damage to his house. No one was going to give him money so he reached in and stole the key from our cart until someone payed him. The course took action against the guy but never reached out to anyone in our group to see how we were. We had to get in contact with them. If I’m paying to play a course in a golf community I’d expect a little better from the course and not expect to get harassed on the course. Fun course just bring your cash just in case you hit a bad shot on #5.

I have many options to play in the area, including Magnolia Green just down the street from my house. But I keep finding myself back at Birkdale after rediscovering it a few months ago.

The conditions are decent right now, with the greens fully recovered from aeration (they roll a little slower than I'd like but fairly smoothly). The fairway grass is the best part but there isn't a noticeable weakness other than the occasional drainage issue.

I also really like the layout here as just about every hole has a unique character to it and the par-5s in particular offer some fun options and scoreable opportunities.

The staff is great here, they even gave me a discount as my round wasn't likely to finish before dark and I really appreciate the thoughtfulness and the offer. It'll make me keep coming back again and again!

Course is in great shape. Overseeding the fairways was the ticket.

The value, $33 18 holes on a fun golf course. Highly recommend. We enjoy the experience.

Fairways were dialed in, best we've played on. Greens although slow are coming around nicely. Overall great value.

Big shout out to the guys in the clubhouse. Had intentions to play 18 but the weather decided, no way. The guys in the clubhouse gave us 9 hole raincheck, which was greatly appreciated. Stand up behavior that's appreciated in these challenging times.

Play this course, it's a nice bargain.

Birkdale has always been one of my favorite courses. For the money it can’t be beat. However, the staff over the last few years has gotten progressively worse. They people in the pro shop are quick to look down their nose at you. Today, I went to play a round by myself, just to get a little “me” time. It is the only thing I can do to get out of the house. During a nationwide pandemic, the guy in the pro shop tried to force me to play with 2 random people I have never met. Pairing up people is almost a guarantee at this course. It happened every time I play. But for me to express concern over safety due to the coronavirus, and for the guy behind the desk to say “that’s what you get when you book online” is downright inexcusable. This isn’t Augusta National, there is no need to treat or speak to your customers like they are not people.
