Pretty Good
The greens were pretty good. The area around the the greens could have been a bit more manicured. Pretty sparse and sandy. It is winter with dormant grass I understand. Staff is a 10.
Course has nice variety
Good established course with a variety of shots necessary. Tee choices give all kinds of options for difficulty. Generous fairways let you loosen up.
Winter Golf
This was a very nice track. I did not demand too much from the average golfer. No blind holes, a little water, and the rough was manageable. I will play this course again when in this part of the country..
Friendly staff
The staff were friendly, hamburgers were excellent, and the course was in great condition. The course was challenging without being overly frustrating for a mid to high handicap. We had a great time ... Will definitely play here again.
While we are young
The course was fun the weather was perfect but the management overbooked waited on every shot it took 5 hours to play 16 holes we had to leave because it got dark.
Great layout, fun course
Not in best of shape but super layout , greens were okay , very challenging with OB everywhere ,, has potential to be top notch
Great day
Watch the water holes as they are tough, but a beautiful day on a great course!
Enjoyable round
We had perfect weather. About 80 degrees, sunny, occasionally windy. The staff was very friendly and professional. The course layout is somewhat challenging with water on a lot of holes, a few narrow fairways, and thick rough that can make it difficult to find your ball sometimes. The greens were just a bit slow but they did roll true. We were a twosome and played a 3 1/2 hour round.
Windsor Park played well
The course is difficult and challenges all levels of play.
Quality Course
Windsor Parke is an excellent course, every hole presents a challenge. Sadly, the driving range was close and when I asked why I was surprised to find out that it was built on a lake. So, word to the wise if Jacksonville receives and excessive amount of rain don't plan on smacking a few balls down range before the 1st tee. However, their practice areas are top notch and their course drains much better than their driving range.
Could be good
I play this course about four or five times a year while traveling on business. In the past (year ago) it had been in really good shape. Being back in Jacksonville again, I decided to play there again. What a disappointment it was this time. The overall condition of the course was much worse than a year ago. The fairways were shaggy and due to be cut. There were cart tracks (furrows?) on most of the fairways where carts were on the grass but should have been required to stay on the paths. The greens were starting to get a little bare in spots and needed to be cut. On the plus side, the staff was cordial and the beverage service prompt. The pace of play was extremely slow for mid morning, but there was no ranger to keep up the pace of play. With a little more effort this could become a good course again. Until then I think I will look for other options when I come south.
What happened to this course?
I hadn't played this course in about a year and I was shocked at the deterioration that's taken place. First of all...very slow play with three hackers playing the tips in front of us...with no marshals in sight to move things along. No ball washers were present, there were fairway divots everywhere with no sand on the carts and none to reload at the half way houses. Geese and geese droppings were everywhere and when we finished there was no one around to clean our clubs and load them in the car. Not worth the $35 - $50 price in my opinion.
New Management
I've been playing this course for years. I thought when new course owners came in the course would improve. Still no sand in the bunkers if so its a mix of dirt and sand. Course is not marked(i.e. red, yellow paint defining hazards etc..). And they raised the rates. Oh yeah, got there for 11:30 tee time and no range balls available. Greens have improved since last year at this time.
Windsor Parke Review
Course was in great shape and pace of play was excellent.
Great layout
Better hit it straight here! Water and OB everywhere. Beautiful layout. Average condition tee to green. Not a long course but defends itself by putting a premium on accuracy.
Wet Greens
The course on the day we played, was a little wet on some of the greens.
Windsor is on the decline
This is one of my favorite courses in Jacksonville for convenience, layout and challenge. However there has been a noticeable decline in course conditions. It's clear that less money is being spent on course and facility maintenance.
Fun course to play
Course in generally good condition, but due to recent rainy weather, cart-only on three holes. This slowed play up a bit due to players ahead slowing down, as well as ourselves.
Greens
I played this course about 2 months ago and the greens were great. i don't know what happened to them but they are in poor condition. Hopefully the new management gets this problem fixed. I do enjoy playing this course.
This course is worth your money
First, the staff was super friendly and very helpful with any questions or concerns our group had. My group and I were able to play this course for a great price and you are getting more than what you pay for. The fairways were not in the best condition, but that is due to the amount of rain the location has received this time of year. The putting greens were in good condition and gave you a bit of a challenge. Overall, I would recommend this course to a friend on any day. Also, do not go to this course on a Monday if you want to sit down for a restaurant type meal because the restaurant is closed on Monday.
