Everything was great, but I would request they ad ice chest to there carts to keep water or beers cold during he round.
Ball placement is at a premium here.
First time playing the course. Pro shop staff and starter very pleasant and friendly. Course was cart path only. I understand the reasoning but this absolutely kills pace of play. maybe use 90 degrees or allow players to ride in the rough at least. that being said course was in okay condition. Rain has hampered mowing. Rough was US open worthy. Greens not 100%. They were punched recently and that combined with rain has slowed their recovery. Fairways were good. The fairways are very narrow and driver is not always the smart play. Luckily my playing partners were familiar with the course and helped me greatly with info. Always nice making new friends playing golf. I enjoyed the round and will be back.
Slow, ragged greens. Nice layout. Slowwwww play.
Slow greens matched slow play. Nice layout with great potential.
you get what you pay for I guess
I know it's a public course, and is located in an area of town that proves to be most convenient for public access, but it's tough to enjoy. The biggest reason is lack of attentiveness to the pace of play. We played on a Friday afternoon at 2:00. How do you not have a Ranger on duty during one of the busiest times of the week??? Or at least one of the golf shop staff occasionally taking a spin around? Nope, nothing....not one time. And it's always this way here. I spent most of my adult life as a staff professional myself, working in the private country club sector....so I believe I know what I'm talking about. You can't go without on course management, at a public facility, during one of the busiest times of the week. There are logically too many inexperienced golfers to not attempt at all to manage the pace of play. Additionally, the carts aren't as clean as they should be...ours was filthy. This also comes back to the management of the cart staff. "Details make the difference". This could be done with more effort and oversight. The cart guy was helpful and attentive to myself and other guests. The beverage cart girl also provided timely and friendly service. Check in was easy, and the range was in overall good shape as well. If they would pay more attention to the pace of play and cleanliness of the golf cars, it would be much more enjoyable. Obviously, pace of play is the real killer here.
COURSE CONDITIONS
Possibly due to lots of rain but course needed to be cut badly. Greens were still poor from overseeding proceedure (rough)
Windsor Parke gc
First time played here, greens are very slow, did not know that it was aerated not too long ago, lot if sands, also lot of rain so the greens are very very slow. Nice course, will come back when the greens are better. Got jammed on back nine, started at #11, there was no marshall to move pace of play along.
Rain soaked fairways Windsor Parke
Wet fairways, mud, average play Like the layout. Awaiting new scorecards. The number 10 hole is the number 1 hole on the scorecards.
Great
Good course and friendly staff. Good greens. Thank you.
Ryder Cup!
Have played at Windsor Parke many times over the years. First and foremost, it's in just about the best shape I've ever seen it. The new ownership is doing a great job on the course conditioning and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, we happened to be playing behind a group of 32 fellas from Georgia who were having a Ryder Cup type match and the play was unbearably slow. 5 1/2 hour round was almost too much to stand. It was a very hot day and we almost left before it was all over. I know the course tried to speed them up but it was not fun coming down the back nine. Overall however, a great place to play golf. Small chance you'd ever find yourself behind a group this slow.
Enjoyable course
Nice "old school" course. Challenge was in having not played there before and knowing layout. Good conditions (need more sand in bunkers, though). Play slow due to playing right after Men's Club Championship. Staff was excellent.
Great Course
I came down from Atlanta for a Reunion and planned on playing a few different courses, but after playing this course the first day I didn't want to look any further.i read some negative reviews about this course but those are probably would be golfers with high handicaps. This is a a great course and the only bad thing I can say about this course is that it's not in Georgia. When in Jacksonville I will always play at Windsor Parke.
1st time playing. I'll be back for revenge!
The course was in good shape. You can tell it's a well-maintained course. The greens were FAST. The course wasn't full of obstacles, but ball placement is key when you don't know how far the pond cuts in, etc. Most of my errors were simply not knowing the course. The staff and fellow golfers were friendly and the beer prices were the best in town. I'll definitely be back.
Nice Layout
This is a challenging well;kept course. Typical Arthur Hills design using lakes and trees to challenge shot-making. Large oaks in the fairway come into play on approach shots on holes 1 and 2. You will use every club in the bag.
Good course - great challenge
Other than a few wet spots and the greens having been aeriated in the last several weeks this course is a great track! The pace was a little slow.
great fairways and rough, chipping made easy!
Greens were aerated but are going to be nice in a week or so. The fairways and rough around the greens are extremely nice and well manicured and makes chipping easy.
Overpriced and poorly managed
The course was air raided but we were charged the normal rate assuming the course was in good shape. The greens were bad even for being air raided and the rest of the course was only in decent condition.
There was no staff member monitoring pace of pace. In 100 degree heat we suffered through a 5 hour round of golf.
The past few years the reputation of this course has only gone down hill. It could be a gem but it is poorly run and underkept.
Greens are bad right now!!!
They punched the greens and have performed some well needed TLC on every green and tee box. In two to three weeks I expect this to be in great shape. The fairways are looking quite nice and I love the layout but one you hit the greens its all over. Gove it two weeks before you play.
Getting Better
The rangers was extremely nice, the course in general is in pretty good shape....the greens need help. The pace of play was surprisingly fast!!!.. Cart girl was nice...only saw her twice. :(
Slow going
The course needs a starter to monitor the pace of play - we waited on every hole and finally just passed over one hole to jump in front of the slow foursome.
