18th Green at Queen's Harbour Photo submitted by mcstanley78 on 08/09/2013
Nice course
It’s a nice place but they had just aerated the entire course which we didn’t know prior to booking but we understand maintenance has to be done. They were spraying around the greens on each hole we were on so it smelled like fertilizer all day and it got on our hands when we had to chip next to the green.
Water on a lot of holes so it was good we had some cheap golf balls because it was challenging. I am not sure we would play it again but it was a good day.
Greens where nice love the challenge great place 👌
Nice bang 4 the buck but it not that easy have fun
Great Course
Great Course unfortunately whoever sets the Pins thinks we all where Red Shirts on Sunday and have a Tiger Knick Name! Seriously every pin is 6 feet from the fringe!
Very Enjoyable Course
Course is always in great shape, very friendly staff, and they do a great job of making sure the tee times are staggered so the groups move smoothly throughout the day.
Pace of play … oh my!
The course shape: great! (The greens looked like they had a few spots where a mower had one blade too low and burned the grass a bit.) Greens were slightly bumpy but overall still in good condition. Fairways and tees were excellent.
The only problem … pace of play is abysmal. I haven’t played here in a few months because every time I play there it’s a 5hr+ round. And this time was no different. Two threesomes in front of us backed up play the entire back nine. Took 3hrs to play back nine. Definitely need a ranger keeping up pace.
Other than that the course is in good shape. Just be prepared to give up most of the day if play there.
Great shape, espectially compared to some other local options
Played here as part of a foursome. Went out in the afternoon and never saw a group in front of us, did let two singles play through. Course was in really nice shape, especially for the time of year. The greens were receptive but fast and the fairways were lush. It's been years since I played here but it was in as good of shape as I can remember ever seeing it.
The layout is really fun. Some really good holes with challenging tee shots and challenging approaches. Some forced carries off the tee and into the green. Definitely not a spray and pray course; requires some thinking your way around if you're trying not to make big numbers. Overall, a very enjoyable course at the right price.
Could be better
Fairways and tee boxes great. Greens could be better. Looked as though the greens keeper used a setting too low on the mower and several had some burned stripes. Plus maybe a little burned out and not watered enough. We’re definitely a little bumpy compared to how they’ve been in the past. The main issue with QH has ALWAYS been pace of play. Was on pace for a four hr round (front nine in two hrs) and then two threesomes backed up the 10th tee with no one in front of them. Turned it into a three hr back nine. Five hrs on a Friday is just too much. The last 4-5 times I’ve played there it has been 5hr rounds. Ranger in front none at hole five. Never saw him the rest of the day. It was literally a 15 minute wait on every tee shot and every second shot on the back nine. Hadn’t played there in 4-5 months because of this issue. Will likely not come back for a long while because of the same.
Hard (but great) course for the average golfer
Queens Harbor keeps its course in great condition for a public course in Jacksonville and the price reflects it. If you want to play 18 holes solo after work it is certainly doable as there are hardly any people there on weekday evenings. The best bang for your buck is to play weekdays after 5:00 PM. That being said the average golfer will have a hard time here. The course is very long and narrow with lots of water. High handicap golfers will likely not want to play the course due to difficulty.
top notch
great shape, never a bad lie in the fairway, green were fast but fair. never waited fpr a shot, let a single play through...nice course
Great Course
Great course to play. Interesting holes. Course staff were lovely. Food was great. Thank you
Awesome! Exceeded expectations
Newer golfer just getting into and trying different courses around the area. This is by far the best course I’ve played yet from the challenge, to the greens to the amenities and the setting. Loved it. Will be back.
