Hidden Hills Golf Course
About
Tucked away in the beautiful Ft. Caroline area near Jacksonville, Hidden Hills Country Club stands on a historic battleground that witnessed the fierce struggles between France and Spain and continued into golf history with searing competition during the heyday of the Greater Jacksonville Open.
The 6,892-yard private golf course, built in 1966 on an ancient sand dune, was redesigned by Arnold Palmer in 1986. Palmer's creativity helped create a championship-caliber golf course unmatched in natural beauty that makes excellent use of rare hilly terrain to create a unique Florida golf challenge. The fairways are lined with majestic pines and stately oaks, and the unpredictable greens have helped Hidden Hills gain the reputation of being one of the most challenging courses in North Florida.
Sharp doglegs, strategic placement of water hazards and putting surfaces that are mostly elevated serve up a mighty test for the low handicapper. Approaches are narrow and many of Hidden Hills Country Club's greens are well bunkered.
Hidden Hills has a rating of 74.0 from the championship tees, and the slope rating is 136.

Terrible green. terrible fairway.
I do not understand why they don't maintenance for this good layout challenged course. or if they don't want to. they need to close this course. very disappointed. just go for practice.
Trying to improve but still not there yet
I used to love this track. Maybe one of the best layouts in the area. But it has been in rough shape for a few years now. Played it for the first time in about a year hoping for the best since I got a cheap TeeOff deal. The greens have been over seeded and weren’t there yet. They were definitely still a little hairy. But better than the sand covered no grass greens they used to have. Some tee boxes were over seeded and some weren’t. Those that weren’t had very little grass. Those that were were in great shape. The fairways … not so great. Still very sparse on grass. Often had to move the ball around just to find some grass to hit off. I think they’re moving in the right direction but the cooler temps during the winter will probably slow the progress. Wish they had the funds to oversees the fairways, then it would probably be in solid shape in a few weeks. But I’m guessing that hopefully it’ll improve maybe by late spring.
This course still in poor shape
Hidden Hills has the potential to be a top 5 public golf facility in Duval County. It once hosted the GJO. But alas the course remains in poor condition. The tees need resending as do many fairways which have bare spots. The thing about the course is that it is inexpensive to play which of course reflects the poor conditions
Not like other Florida courses.
What a pleasant surprise. Different elevations on a Florida course. I read reviews and asked golfing friends about hidden hills and it was agreed it’s a nice track, but the quality of the grass had been lacking. The greens rolled true and there were a few bare spots in the fairways. There is a new greens keeper and I bet these conditions will continue to improve. Can’t wait to book it again.
Don't play here
To say today's round was a disappointment would be an understatement. Par3 tee markers stacked together with no prior notification all at 100 yds. One par 5 with a temporary green before the water hazard with no notification. Numerous tee boxes literally had us hitting off dirt. Maybe 40% of the greens were decent. With all of that they still charged $65. What's really a shame is after all of that you'd never I got my 2nd hole in one today. Hidden Hills GC please do better. Make your course look like your driving range.
Terrible All-Around
Went and played for my birthday, after seeing the price I thought the course would be in great condition. It was not, it was an absolute dumpster fire, fairways were terrible, greens were pretty bad. Not worth the money at all, and the cherry on top, one of the club house employees was giving me a hard time because I asked if my girlfriend could ride along, there was nobody within 30 minutes of me teeing off, nobody riding with me, and plenty of carts available, I might’ve given them the benefit of the doubt if he hadn’t charged me 25$ and some attitude for her to ride along, I’ll never be going back. Don’t golf here unless you like pasture golf and blowing money.
Great experience
Although had a good experience waiting for the course to get fully green besides that great clubhouse
Better. Not good yet, but better.
Fairways still bad in a lot of spots but greens way better and it appears as though maintenance is on going. Give it another 45 days or so and if fairways are being tended to should be in good shape for the fall season.
Much Improved!
Play HH last night and I was impressed with improved greens. Heard they had a new greenskeeper. Love this place and glad to be back!
Greatly Improved in recent months!
The course has made tremendous strides over the past few months. Course conditions have improved significantly. It’s clear that management and staff have invested considerable effort into elevating the overall playing experience. If you haven’t visited recently, I highly recommend returning to see the positive changes firsthand.
No maintenance sad to see
Love this course in its day but that is long gone ! Temp green, fairways stubbles of grass. Tee boxes dirt! Greens not good!
Good shape
This course is not 5 stars but I feel like it needs a little more love than it's getting lately. They're clearly turning it around and the course is is looking good. There's a few greens that are patchy but the pins are placed in the good parts of the green. Overall I really enjoyed enjoyed and hope they can continue this trend of turning it around.
Great layout
Great layout but the greens need some work. Overall experience was enjoyable.
Definitely Not Worth The Money
This course was in terrible shape. Golfnow should be embarrassed for advertising this course at $60 plus fees. The fairways were mostly dirt, the tee boxes nothing but dirt patches, the greens had dirt patches throughout and the cart paths were nearly unusable. The description of the course and actual conditions were entirely 180 out. At the present time I would definitely NOT recommend playing this course.
WORST COURSE IN JAX - STAY AWAY
The Audacity to Charge almost $50.00 for 9 holes for this course.
Horrible horrible shape. Cant even tell the fairway from the rough. Greens are a MESS. No maintained at all. They need to shut this place down. Stay Miles away from this course and take yourself to any other course but this one.
Life's not fair
It's a travesty to the golfing community on the south side because before Covid the golf course was in was always well maintained. It should be torn down and put new housing units on the property. The clubhouse needs new decoration and more patrons
Getting better
The course has improved since the last time I played there. The greens still needs to be repaired or replaced.
Sweltering Summer Day of GOLF
It's summer in FL so heat to be expected. Started out about 90 degrees and ended up at 99 degrees.
Have played this course several times before and recall it fondly from when the Greater Jacksonville Open was played there many years ago. Unfortunately, either due to the weather or lack of attention, the course conditions have become average or less with bare fairways, tees, and greens.
Here's hoping a change can be made to bring it back to the state it once was.
