Amazing
The course is outstanding. Superb condition. A bit slow, but the Rangers did a great job! Top notch from PoV1s on the range to mint dented towels when you finish. Grab an apple or Orange on the course. Very refreshing
Have lunch in the bar! Food is outstanding.
Groundhog Day, In a Good Way!
I was back at Four Season's Tranquilo yesterday for my birthday. My wife and I played a round together and stayed after the round for an appetizer and drinks this time.
As always, when we pulled up, we were greeted and treated like VIPs. I guess that is just the way they roll at Four Seasons; their customers are ALL VIPs! Anyway, we pulled up, got out of the car, flipped the car key to valet, and inside we went. The valet parks the car and unloads your clubs and shoes and gets them to your cart on the backside without you even knowing it is happening. It never gets old! :-#
As usual, Charlie, the Director of Golf, and Jonathan, one of the pro shop staff, made small talk with us and made us feel right at home.
Next, off to the range to warm up. As usual, a well kept, well stocked range awaited. There was only one of the person there and he was taking a lesson from one of the pros. I hit a dozen or so Pro V1s out to targets and off to the first tee we went.
The course was somewhat empty and quiet. We played at our own pace the whole round - but remember, this was a summer Wednesday morning. You can't expect that on a weekend. However, I have never experienced a round over 4.5 hours at Tranquilo - weekday or weekend, morning or evening.
The greens were still showing slight signs of aeration but nothing that really affected my putting other than my own poor putting. LOL If you would have seen the fairways after the verticut, you would really appreciate how great of shape they are in now. You really can't tell that the greens and fairways were heavily aerated/verticut several weeks ago. I later learned that Tranquilo has one of the best Supers in the industry and it definitely is showing.
One thing I think really sets Tranquilo apart from the other courses outside of the golf course and staff is the fact that they provide complimentary bottled water and fresh fruit out on the course. On the other hand, I wish there was an ice station out on the course to keep the ice in the cart's cooler fresh.
The maintenance crews were diligently cleaning up the course all around us on the back nine; we hadn't seen any of that during the first nine. So our front nine was quiet and the back nine was a little bit busier. Again, understandable as it was a Wednesday morning. That sort of thing doesn't bother me though. But if it bothers you, you may want to play earlier than 9:15 AM or wait until later in the day. You can always call the shop and find out their maintenance schedule.
We saw our cart girl 3 or 4 times on both the out and in #no front and back at Tranquilo#. And when we finished up, we were presented with rolled, tea-tree, cold/damp linens for our faces and neck as a cool-down! Nice touch! We left our clubs to the staff and went up to the patio of Plancha; the on premise restaurant that serves Cuban-American cuisine. My wife and I had Plancha Mojitos an appetizer - Chorizo Parrillero. The mojito was delicious #cross between a margarita and a mojito) and the appetizer was tasty. We finished our drinks and appetizer while enjoying a nice view from our comfy rocking chairs under a covered patio with many potted palms. The patio has a nice Latin/tropical feel to it.
Tranquilo, you've done it again!!
Plinko type greens!!
Let me first say that walking up to the club house and interacting with the bag drop and pro shop was the most friendly and customer service savvy people I have met. Now, the course! The fairways were extremely soft (no roll out) and the verticut them so some spots were dirt or mud. The greens were just punched 2 weeks ago and it was a joke amongst the group I was paired with that it was like we were on the "Price is Right" playing the game Plinko, you putt and hope the ball bounced around and dropped into the hole.
Very golfer-focused staff
First, the course. It's a great layout, good variety, some gettable holes and some challenging, but overall not too difficult. The greens are coming along nicely from the aeration and should be rolling perfectly in 1-2 weeks. Right now, they're still bumpy especially on longer putts. I get the impression they may cut them a bit shorter when they've fully recovered and with the increased speed the course will play more difficult, but still very playable and enjoyable. The fairways were pretty soggy in areas, which may have been due to rain the day before or heavy watering (or both). The bunkers (with the exception of 18) were all freshly raked and in great condition.
The staff and customer experience is where Tranquilo sets itself apart. They cater to all of your needs, and you are greeted by name wherever you go. You don't touch your bag from the time you leave your hotel until you're back to your hotel. Fresh towels in the cart, bottled water provided in the cooler, and the beverage cart is around early and often. At the end of the day you're welcomed back to the clubhouse with an ice cold towel (perfect for the 90+ degree weather), and the cuban sandwich in the bar afterwards is fantastic (and huge!).
Overall, Tranquilo was a highlight for me this summer. Highly recommended.
Worth it on a HotDeal only!
The Tranquilo course was a nice improvement of the old Osprey Ridge course. The conditions are more manicured than before but overall pretty much the same layout. I was a little disappointed that they didn't add any new design features than before, but if this is your first time playing you won't be disappointed. It's not worth paying more than $50 to play this course unless you just want to tell your friends you played at the four seasons, you can play better courses in the area for less.
Tranquilo - nice course
Very nice cours and superfriendly staff that gave me half the price that I've had booked for due to recent aerification.
Hidden Gem
I played one week after aeration and it was fine. Staff could not have been more helpful. I will play there again...soon.
The course is in great shape
The course was in great shape. The staff couldn't have been friendlier.
Spk
Love to play it again. Great course except for the surprise aeration of fairways and greens making shots an issue. Fees were cuts to accommodate the conditions which was appreciated. WAter and fruit was provided at several holes.... Nice touch. Best apples and oranges.
Just me!
I purchased the $85 unlimited play. I checked Tranquilo's online tee sheet and chose a day that was slow and I could get off first. 6 hours and 20 minutes after I teed off, I needed a par on 18 to break 310. Seventy two holes in under 6 1/2 hours! The fairways and greens are large. The greens are the course's main defense, for me, the greens were slow because of aeration. It took some of the "bite" out of the course. the staff were great! Took full advantage of the free water and fruit. I was told I could order food and they would bring it to me on the course! I didn't do it, but wished I had. I was too busy flying around the course! Played through one deuce and one single all day! Perfect day!
Perfection
Played this course a few years ago under Disney management & thought it was nice then. However, Four Seasons has really "classed up" the clubhouse and the course conditions from tee to fairway to rough to greens were excellent. Loved being able to warm up with ProV1s (my ball) and have never seen free water & sliced fruit on a course that was not a private club.
I know it's pricey in-season, but the GolfNow deal was excellent and well worth every penny. So I strongly recommend even during the more toasty spring season.
2nd Time at Tranquilo
First: Course has been freshly aerated and vertical cut on some fairways. I think they said it was done this past Monday through Thursday (6/8 - 6/11). Greens are very sandy and slow at this point.
Secondly, I forgot to mention this in my first review so I will mention it in this one. This course is one of few that actually goes out and comes back in. You don't loop past the clubhouse between 9 and 10. I like that for a change. The have plenty of hospitality stations which have restrooms, bottled water on ice, and oranges and apples (wrapped). Very nice touch!
Great staff to take care of you too! Charlie parked my car and was very professional and attentive. Jonathan and Nancy were great to me in the pro shop. Michael was very nice as well. And Jim, the marshall, did a fantastic job getting my GPS working and plugging my club/ball washer so I could fill 'er up with water.
The carts have coolers, sand bottles, and a ball/club washer. They have touch-screen GPS, and towels - as well as those cushy upgraded Club Car seats. The carts are very nice.
Saw deer, turkeys (and baby turkeys), herons, egrets, and many other birds. Great scenic course into the quietness of mother nature.
First rate facility
Everything here is first rate - the staff, practice facilities, clubhouse, food and beverage. But the best part is the condition of the course. The greens, fairways, rough and bunkers are all excellent. Nothing else need be said.
FYI - Aeration schedule
FYI: The greens are scheduled for aeration on Monday, 6/8/2015.
I didn't play there but I know this from talking to the pro shop staff. I live in Orlando and play the resort courses often.
A must play in Olrando
Tranquilo is a slightly revised and significantly recondition version of Disney's Osprey Ridge golf course. This Tom Fazio gem is a true delight, offering ample fairways and large greens, but enough challenge to test any golfer. To me, it's the ultimate resort golf course, a scenic, fun and fair challenge to golfers of all levels. The staff was remarkably gracious and accommodating, addressing me by name from arrival to departure. Food in the Latin-themed restaurant was excellent. While I did miss the 18th hole on the previous Osprey Ridge course (a great par 4 that the Four Seasons hotel and new condos are now on), that's my only issue. Can't wait to play it again!
Excellent, yet very challenging round and experience.
The staff and service was excellent, as were the facilities and course. The greens were like a pro tour course. A gem indeed. Pace of play was perfect. I will be coming back for sure.
Superb golf and staff.
The course as in excellent shape. The staff was one of the friendliest I have ever had at a golf course. It was semi-challenging, but mostly the undulating greens. Otherwise it is very fair and have relatively straight forward tee and approach shots. Definitely would receommend.
tremendous experience
Valet parking, classy clubhouse and locker room, carts have gps and the most comfortable seats you could imagine, use of range included (pro v1 practice balls) amazing greens, complimentary water and fruit on the course!!! If you haven't tried this place you really have to! Puts other places to shame. I can't wait to return.
Excellent condition / great staff
The course was in excellent condition and the pace of play was under 4 hours. The staff was very courteous and went out of their way to be helpful. I did not have food or beverage.
What a Treat
This is the old Osprey with some redesign. The conditions are absolutely fabulous. Fairways are plush and manicured perfectly. Many of the holes are the same as the Osprey and it is a little hard to see the changes except for the conditions. They have fixed many of the drainage problems.
The staff is unreal. The valet knew my first name (without looking at the tee sheet) and pro shop staff friendly and helpful. Restaurant is pricey by very good.
The only complaint I have is that the GPS yardage a were consistently off, some by as much as 10 yards. Have a laser with you. That will help with yardages. Greens could have been faster but probably avoiding potential stress problems for rest of year. Pricey but hey, you are on vacation right?
Enjoy this one. It is a redo.
That is a shame you witnessed the course in that condition. It really is a great course when it is not in "maintenance mode". Come back in the fall and winter and see for yourself. I played the course right before they aerated and verticut it. It was PRISTINE!
