I shouldn't have been opened.
Due to heavy rains the previous day, the course was a giant sponge. It was cart path only and no matter where you hit the ball, it was soaken wet. No roll, ball plugged and you found yourself splattered with mud. Slow play due to cart path only, difficult to walk and just a long miserable round. Great course that should have never opened. Great way to destroy the course and irritate the golfers.
Better than Lake Buena Vista
I golf quite often at my local courses, but this was my first vacation to Disney that included golf. I played Lake Buena Vista yesterday and Magnolia today. Lake Buena Vista was hard, but their greens still have not recovered from aerations. Fortunately Magnolia's greens were in terrific shape considering then recent aeration. The course was not crowded at all (2:45 tee time) and while playing with one other stranger who was a great guy, we had all the time in the world. No one behind us. A twosome in front that were fast. The course itself is real difficult (which is great), with a lot of water features, but if you can stay relatively straight and you can drive, you should be able to post a good score as long as you keep to the fairways and greens. The only reason I rated the condition as four stars is because the course is still recovering from a hurricane that happened last week. Everything was really dry though, but there's still a good amount of debris.
Overall, Magnolia is a must play if you come down here. If you had to choose Magnolia or Lake Buena Vista, choose Magnolia. But if I were you, I would play them both.
Always great
You just can't beat a Disney course when you want to play one of the best in the area. In my opinion Lake Buena Vista is the best of the Disney Courses. From tee to green you're in for a treat. The course is in great shape. It's obvious money is always spent to keep this course in great shape. The layout is great. The staff is always helpful and friendly. Arrive early to shop in the Pro Shop. There is always a good deal on shirts. This is one course you have to play if you are going to be in the area.
Terrific course, really slow.
The course is fantastic. The course is in perfect condition and is extremely well maintained. All of that good work is nullified by a 5 hour round on a 100 degree heat index day. But that said, I will continue to play at LBV and would recommend the course to everyone... just be prepared for the potential of a really slow round..
Good course condition
In the Florida heat having 2 beverage carts should be mandatory. Only having one on the course causes too great of a delay in service. Other than that it was a good round of golf.
Challenging course
I have played LBV many times and it is always in good condition. It is my favourite of the remaining Disney courses and wends it's way through the villas and country side near Disney Springs. It has challenges for all standards of golfer and will not disappoint.
Lives up to Disneys name
You won't find much better in central Florida, especially for the rate I paid on a hot deal. 2 negatives: cart path only with gps carts made the already slow pace of play that much more intolerable, and having people in front of you/behind you all day should be expected. Other than that, this course is absolutely gorgeous, will make any golfers day.
Someone bail out the bunkers
I played in the fall and the course was in great shape. I played on July 19th after heavy rains the night before and the course was still sopping wet. Cart path only. Every iron off the fairway had the infamous fwop sound as the mud grabbed the club. Luckily, there was plenty of water in the sand traps to wash off the clubs. I lost two balls in deep water in the traps. Saw the splash - just couldn't find the ball in the murky water. Greens were in very good shape. Most tee boxes were good. A few were thin. Super friendly staff in the happiest place on Earth...
A very enjoyable round
The course was in great condition. We were told that the tees were set back further than normal which meant that the course was playing long but it was still manageable. The pace of play wasn't great - I guess most people are on vacation so not the end of the world. I was slightly disappointed that the tee markers weren't Mickey ears. If that's the worst thing, I guess it isn't a bad course. Would definitely recommend.
Disney - LBV
Greeted by the traditional friendly Disney staff. Have a Magical Day was the phrase of the moment and we did. Arrival, check-in, range and practice green were excellent. The starter kept everything flowing on schedule. Pace of play was good at 4:15 for the round. Player assistant was visible to ensure that everyone kept on schedule and the installed GPS also informed you of your pace. Tee boxes and fairways are in great shape...and the greens were in perfect condition, consistent through the entire round.
Location of the course is near Disney Springs and winds around the resort area. If you have the opportunity while visiting the parks this is the course to play.
Course was in great shape
I have now played all of the Disney courses in the Orlando area and I have not yet been disappointed. LBV was in fantastic shape and the greens were rolling very nice and true. My only complaint is that we did not see the cart lady once during our round, other than her passing by when we were waiting to tee off. We did tee off around 3pm but I still think there should have been somebody catering on the course. I recommend this course to any handicap and enjoyed my experience, once again, at Disney.
Average conditions for Florida
Course was in good shape but reflected heavy use. Greens were very slow but in pretty good shape.
Great shape, greens were slow.
Great shape and got a great hot deal. Greens were in good shape but slow.
Sunrise 9
What a deal.
2 beers, breakfast sandwich, 9 holes with cart. Done by 1030, back with family by 11.
Course was in good shape all around. Staff were excellent all the way around. I will say, when disney ran the courses, they were in top notch shape and would get an easy 5 stars. They still get 4 stars. I can say enough about this sunrise 9.
The course was very beautiful
The course was very wet but that is no fault of the people as there was a heavy downpour the day and night before. Overall a great experience!!!
