I got lucky with a pitching wedge and landed about 15' from the pin. The pin placement this round was tough with holes tight to the front edges. Photo submitted by knichola on 08/19/2013

One of the best in Orlando
As a local, i always jump at the chance to play this course which is one of the best in the area. Undergoing a lot of maintenance now on greens etc, but it is still in great condition. Skip the NEW course, its a hoakey tribute course to Scottish links style courses. But the north/east/south courses are beautiful, tree lined with very challenging layouts but fair. You have to be on your game to score here but even if you don't you will enjoy your round. Great staff keeps things moving along as best they can.
Nice layout
Course was nice, some work being done on a couple holes. The greens recently punched so that made it tough. can't rate the greens at all...I don't think its worth full price, however, playing it in peak time with peak conditions might change that but its a stretch. clubhouse first class and the Wagyu burger is to die for....don't miss that!
It was one of the best courses I have played in Florida.
It was one of the best courses I have played in Florida. It was one of my favorite courses.
But today it was to crowed and played only 11 holes. Had to wait long, very long on every tee.
It's not the course I likes so much. And even the staff in the restaurant changed. It is not as friendly as it was before.
I play this course every year twice. I live in the Netherlands and especially for golf I come to Florida (April and October).
The only thing that didn't change is the very friendly starters.
Next golftrip to Florida I skip Grand Cypress.
Punched greens
Played North / South. All greens had been punched which was a shame, but rest of course in excellent condition. GPS on buggies was great, all staff were amazing. Facilities were faultless, from driving range through to locker rooms.
Some of the course is being redeveloped, but this does not detract too much from the course being played.
great course but the greens were full of sand
excellent.....................................................................................................................................
excellent course
I love this course and I'm fortunate to play it often. The course is in great shape and the staff couldn't be friendlier except for one starter who tends to be dismissive
PRO Quality
Played 4/20/13.
Although we are in a transitional time of year in Florida and it has been pretty dry for the last several months, Grand Cypress was outstanding. We played the challenging South Course first and ball placement on the green was key. I would suggest the blue tee for the experienced golfer as other than a few holes this course is not lengthy. We also got to play the East and North courses which were also fantastic. I look forward to getting back and trying the New Course which seems to be in higher demand.
the east course needed much attention
the east course greens were slow and patchy. the north course was in much better shape
Grand Cypress Never Fails
We were able to play the East North followed by the entire New Course. Everything was great as it ALWAYS is. There had been a lot of rain the day before followed by tremendous sun the next day. The traps had been raked but just the surface. Below was very hard and the wedges seem not to dig. I presented a real challenge. I suggest stay out of the bunkers.
Best I've played in Orlando in the last 2 months (8 times/5 courses)
Nice staff greets you at the door, even the gate guard was friendly, valet awesome. Course conditiion was excellant, fairways mowed, greens running true just fast enough!
Very nice but not as much fun as the New
I played the East South combination. Course is in good condition as one would expect at Grand Cypress. Great hospitality from the staff. Very enjoyable but challenging off the back tees on the Easst, so played more forward on South. South felt a bit more tricky with very difficult sloping greens. I would go back but preferred their New course which is a tke on the Old Course at St Andrews. Greens are fast as they are pretty much everywhere in top end Orlando courses.
Beautiful course
Great course, excellent in every way. Found a special rate making the experience an excellent value.
Summary
Everyone was friendly especially at the bag drop. Would of like to seen the cart person more than 1 time during the round. She could of told us when she was going in. We played Sunday afternoon and finished by 4pm.
excellent!!!
great challenging holes. some of the greens are a little like a carnival. there is not an easy putt longer than 6 feet but are in great shape and roll true. distance control is paramount on the approach,a few greens were no more than 12 feet deep with a pin placement that made me think the groundskeeper hates low scores. perfect fairways that are fairly wide made for a great golf experience. one of the best places to play in Orlando.
Think before you swing
Played East/North. Beautiful course where you have to have your drives and wedges in place. Approach shots from wrong angles were challenging and making up & down after a missed green is not easy. I definitely need a rematch...
The perfect ending to a great golf vacation
We were very pleasantly surprised to get a round of golf at Grand Cypress at a very good price. This would be our final round of golf before returning home from a 2 month golf vacation. Driving into the complex was like arriving at one's own country club. At the entrance we were immediately greeted by a very pleasant young man who took our clubs, placed them on the cart and drove them to the pro shop area. The pro shop attendant would not register us until a half hour ahead of our tee time, so we took the time to have lunch in the very pleasant dining room. The service staff could not have been more pleasant or obliging. I am sure that a better Cobb salad has never been placed in front of me. Delicious and abundant. Sue had the fruit plate, which included several very fresh fruits including large, plump black berries. And the prices could not have been more reasonable. We were able to get started early. The starter was very engaging and pleasant. The course is well laid out, with many wonderful settings. Fairways are generous, but sand traps and bushes are strategically placed to catch errant tee shots. Greens are extremely well maintained and hold high shots very well. Best to play from tee boxes that allow for short to middle irons into the greens, since green side traps are very protective. Very difficult to run longer shots onto the greens and have a chance at a 2 putt. Our round of golf could not have been more enjoyable. Truly like being a member for a day. The $45 round was in the range of games at home, and are rare to find for this course. While the price was about $15 more than we had been paying on other equally satisfying courses, it was well worth the experience.
course was awesome!!!!
This course was very fun!!!! I am a novice but had a great time on this course
Nice facilities and course.
My enjoyment was spoilt by the very fast and undulating greens which resulted in too many putts (probably because I usualy play in England). Otherwise it was a nice place to play.
It doesn't get any better than this.
At the G.O. Resident rate it is the best value on the planet. The condition is superb but bring your A game as it can be humbling.
The greens were very puttable as opposed to a speed of 12 in the summer. That doesn't mean they were slow just a 6 footer downhill would stay on the green. The staff wants each round to be a memorable one. You have to go.
Great outing
Slow play as expected at large resort but not super unbearable course was fun to play golfnow was a great deal cheaper 88 bucks vs 150 at the time we chose .
