Your approach to the 8th at Grand Cypress New needs to cross a burn, and you'll drive your cart over a stone bridge toward the green. Kitschy? Sure, but chalk it up to commitment to a certain aesthetic. Photo submitted by TimGavrichGP on 08/31/2018

Excellent, Fun, and a lot like St. Andrews
I loved playing this course. I don't usually like courses that are an ode to a famous course, but this one really works. If you've played the Old Course at St. Andrews, you'll recognize some familiar features. If you haven't played the Old Course, you'll love this course because it is a superb and fair test of golf.
The Best Resort Course in Central Florida!
From the valet to the 19th hole, this facility is great! The New Course makes you feel like you are in Ireland or Scotland!
This course is in great condition. Fast greens.
Course is in fastastic condition. Fast greens. Course was not crowded. Love the cart GPS! No more free range balls.
Course a lot of fun to play, in great shape and very forgiving.
Enjoyed this course very much. Second time I have played it. Fairways, greens, etc. in great shape. Open links-style layout very helpful in keeping up the pace of play. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Different
It is links course with double greens but separate fairways. It is wide open with some tough bunkers. No rough except around the bunkers. The greens were good but did have some top dressing on them. Played in a twosome and finished in 3:10. Fun course with little trouble other than the bunkers.
Top class
One of the best courses I ever played. I hope I´ll be back soon.
Great shape but expensive.
Course is in great shape but has no real challenges. Very wide open fairways and an expensive green fee.
Gem of a course!
I've always liked the North/South Course so much that I never considered playing The New Course..........until a recent opportunity presented itself. Wow! Who knew? Love at first sight! Our round started on a perfectly gray and windy day - perfect for this course anyway! It took little to imagine one's self strolling the Scottish links! The course condition was immaculate to boot! I don't recall talking-up a newly discovered Orlando course with friends and family to the degree I have his one. What a gem!
Florida Links at its best
Jack Nicklaus design... that pretty much says it all. Played on a cold, windy day, which was perfect for this course. Course is fair but demanding of not only distance but accuracy. The greens are very demanding of putting your ball in the correct location to putt. Plenty of "Pot" style bunkering will leave you scratching your head, playing sideways is sometimes only option. This is a must play for the good player and will leave a novice with great memories. This course is in my top five. Even though the course was being heavily played it was still in top notch condition, with the greens having a very quick pace.
Beautiful undulating fairways
A pleasure. Wide open fairways but not free of hazards. Pot bunkers dot every hole and challenging greens.
Not a typical Florida course, in a good way!
The New Course is definitely designed to imitate the links-style courses of Europe. Not many trees or water, but lots of rolling fairway. Double greens on many holes made it interesting but were never a problem. Greens were true and challenging due to many undulations. Bring a ball retriever if you have some time and don't have a group right behind you, because it's a resort course and there are tons of good balls to be fished out of the small stream on a couple of the holes. Great deals from GolfNow make for an outstanding but not too expensive experience on a beautiful course. And stay out of the pot-bunkers if you can!
Exceptional!
Great course! Very scenic. Excellent condition. Having played St Andrews "Old" course... it was fun to see a few holes recreated here. I would of had a better score if I would have stayed out of the numerous pot bunkers. My husband shot a personal best here... an especially nice way to end our Florida golf vacation!
amazing course!!!
the grand Cypress did an amazing job of doing a replica of the Scottish links course. The greens were amazing and wide open. Forgiving in some areas and very challenging in another areas. I can't wait till I play there again.
wide open and fun
great golfnow deal and great conditions really friendly and helpful staff
excellent course
Many good features on this course from the friendly staff to a well manicured golf course, no matter which holes you play.
Course fun - but staff - customer service left alot to be desired.
When we arrived in the Pro Shop the lady advised us she did not have a booking for us, although the attendant at the gate checked the sheet and found a 10:50 tee time and let us in. I was told I needed to provide proof that we had booked a tee time with Golf Now - there was nothing she could do. As my husband had booked the tee time, I had to go to their computer in the clubhouse look up my e-mails and print out my confirmation. Thank goodness he had e-mailed me a copy.
The starter tried to rush us off before our time... and being our first time there did not explain anything..No explanation of how the GPS worked - which is a different system to most courses. No the easiest to understand.
Our cart started losing power on the uphill around hole #8. We sent a message stating we needed assistance at the turn. There was some technical problem and the message was not received. This happened repeatedly as tried over and over to get help.
With the cart creeping up the hills and repeated requests for help, someone appeared to help at the 17th green. As 18 was flat, the cart made it back to the clubhouse!
Brush up on your lag putting
Played 11/29/12. Great weather and great course. Not overly hard but you must drive in the grass and not the bunkers (or else it will be a one stroke penalty to your score) and you better figure out how to lag putt. Huge greens with undulation will cause you to have many long putts. Only negative, if this is one... is that the GPS / yardage always felt about a half club short...so take more club to be sure.
A treat to play. Definitely will go back.
A very enjoyable course to play. I am a huge fan of links style and The New Course is fairly close to true links, except for the bermuda rough around the bunkers, no fescue and (sometimes) softer fairways than The Old Course. Yes, I have played The Old Course (2x).
An added benefit was that I, as a Single, was paired with a guy who was a 3 and his wife who was a 10. Didn't hurt that I played one of my best rounds of the year,,,, while on vacation! Also, I didn't hit into any of the 150 pot bunkers!
Enjoyed walking accross the replica of st andrews 18th hole stone bridge.neat concept
While not on a golf bucket list, neat concept of replicating St Andrews. True links course experience was alot of fun.
Staff was very friendly. We were a twosome and were able to play in 3 1/2 hours with only a couple of holes where we had to wait on the group ahead. Clubhouse restaurant had very good food and service. Excellent value.
We would definitely play the course again.
Best course I've played
like my header says, i havent played a better course. the wind was blowing, so some of the longer par 4's played much longer. im still in complete awe....
booked through golfnow.com, we paid significatly less than the clubhouse rate.
