Halifax Plantation
About
This 18 hole championship course opened in 1992 and was designed by Bill Amick. The shady fairways are bordered by huge sprawling oaks and towering pines, nestled in the shadows of Bulow and Tomoka State Parks in Ormond Beach. The course features five elevated tee boxes and fast, contoured, highly manicured greens adequately protected by traps. A unique experience for the golfer who enjoys not only a challenge but also extraordinary scenery.

The rough is tough!
Almost impossible to hit out of the rough. Spent a lot of time just trying to find our golf balls in the rough. The ball sinks down in the rough and is pretty impossible to see unless you are right on top of it. Greens were nice and course was overall in great condition. Pace was excellent. I had an 83 my brother had an 80. It was wet and windy today.
Challenging course
One of the best courses between Daytona and Jax. Very good greens. .The poppy Grass makes it sometimes difficult to find the balls. Very nicht Layout..
Slow play
Very nice course had a foursome in front of us that didn’t let us play through and we were twosome had an empty hole in front of them other than that it was great
100 % honedt….
where do I start, I guess with the fairways, they had more crab grass than a Dow test lab, the rough was completely unmanageable ti dsy the leadt, on the first hole my drive missed the fairway by 2 feet and it took an entire platoon to find it. It seemed like this was the scenario on every hole. The only saving grace at the Fax is the greens are always smooth and quick. Gonna be quite awhile before I pay 55 bucks to again experience conditions such as this anytime soon. Save your money, or play somewhere else !
Ruff was too high, if you were just off the fairway your ball disappeared. Pace of play was terrible, no marshal was there to move things along. Several calls were made to the club house to report the slow play but no one was answering the phone.
5 1/2 hour round, longest round I’ve ever played.
I wouldn’t play there again if they payed me !!!!
So disappointed!
Played Labor Day and had a 9:23 tee time but got off early because the tee sheet was light. The round was just at 5 15hours. No ranger, called the golf shop no answer. The greens were fine but the rest of the course was a disaster. Fairways, tee boxes uncut. Weeds all over. Rough looked like the rough at the open. Bathrooms were dirty. If you paid $60 to play here you got robbed.
Lost balls right next to fairway!!
I've never played a course that you can lose so many balls 5 feet from the fairway. The grass/weeds were tall and a lot of time was spend looking for golf balls even when they rolled off the fairway into the rough. We had a group of 4 and if only 1 person would've had a bad round the understandable but when all 4 people added 10-15 strokes because the grass was in such a bad shape and you had to take many more drops do to lost balls. Even right next to the green we found several balls previous groups had lost. I've played many other courses for half the price and it much better condition. Highly recommend looking for another course nearby and not this one.
Awful rough grass, weeds, no greeting all for $59
At this time of the year, asking $59 for a round on an ok course like this is premium. All other ok courses charge about $32-$39 (mid-day end of summer, super hot and humid).
So I played this expecting a slightly above average course. This is by far the worse course we've played while in FL. It is probably the kind of grass they use for the rough but as soon as your ball rolls into the rough, ever so little, consider your ball lost. You can literally walk over your ball and not see it. And trust me it is not because they have "pga" rough". It is just long grass that literally swallows your balls. Needless to say this slows down the game as everyone is looking for balls.
The fairways were full of weed and the grass was so high in the tee boxes that the ball barely cleared the grass even on a high tee.
The grounds were simply not taken care of and needed some serious grass cutting. Also, the cart paths (sometimes nonexistent), were in dire need of TLC.
Top that off with staff that does not even acknowledge you when you arrive at the bag drop or even when you bring the cart back and you get the idea why I feel that asking $59 to play this course at this time of the year was a ripoff.
Just played Pine Lakes today. 100X better and cheaper.
Halifax
The course is in very good shape. The starter, Steve, was very informative regarding course conditions. The greens were flush with grass however the cup was often cut on an angular position on the green. Also the greens were fast.
All in all I am glad my brother and I went.
currently in bad condition
I have never played a golf course in such bad condition. The grass on the driving range and all other game elements was not cut to length. The balls could not be hit from the fairway or the rough. The paths were catastrophic...
