The course was very well maintained the greens were moderate but for a course located in the high desert I was amazingly surprised.
I golfed the course 15 years ago and since the City has purchased it and there seems to be much more attention put into the maintenance of the course... The club house is rather diseving when you first arrive as it is an older structure and can use similar updating, but don't let it's first appearance scar you as you find it to a nicely challenged course with well groomed fairways and decently maintained greens... For the price you can't go wrong.
Old PGA course nice design and challenging
Needs more water the water features have been removed
A cozy course
As this is my second time to play this course I guess I must have enjoyed it, in fact I did. It is a cozy course situated in a canyon/valley setting. It is an older course in need of a small amount of attention. The tree lined fairways and bunkered greens make it a challenge to all levels of play and of course three sets of tees help to influence the challenge. I played the course both times with my son who is just starting out and he also enjoyed himself, in fact wants to still play the game. Pace of play is a bit slow but tolerable. Go and try this course you will like it
the course is not easy if you don't stay on the fairway or in the desert.
the course is challenging even if you stay on the grass area do to over hanging trees. If you play a good straight ball you'll be alright. some areas of the course is some what dry in spots , but over all it is a lot better. some of the drinking fountains don,t work and some of the areas in the desert areas still have down trees. squirrels and the holes in the ground are still there.
greens are too slow. mounds of mawn grass left all over the place.
Slow greens. Mounds of mawn grass, all over course.
Great Course For THe Price
Was kinda suprised that the course was in pretty good shape ! I have read alot of reviews and some were good , some were bad ! But recently people had said the city was getting it back into shape and it was really a nice suprise to see it was in decent shape ! Some greens needed to be attended to but course is pretty good deal for the money ! I'm sure they will get it back into shape ! Nice Course for the price !
Great play for the money
This was my first time playing Hesperia. I'm glad that I finally got out. The course was in very fine shape, given the recent heat in the High Desert. All the fairways were green and mowed, and the greens were well watered(soft and slow) which offered a challenge in judging put speed. It was quite a relief to see greens that were not hard, burned out islands, that caused the balls to bounce and roll off. The fairways had recently been mowed so I could see that there might have been some trouble finding balls in the fairway, a few days earlier. The tee boxes were equally pleasing to hit from, as they were well watered and soft-not dry and chewed up from too much play. That was the other surprise-there were not many golfers competing for tee times and bunching up on the course. We were a twosome and were not running up on a group ahead of us, and we did not feel "pushed"from behind. It was a Saturday afternoon (yesterday, July 13) and it was warm, but not oppressively hot, as it has been recently. I'll be back again, and will be looking forward to another pleasant outing! I highly recommend Hesperia!
Good value for the money I paid.
Course was average. For the price, I cannot complain but I can complain about the wind. Ouch I will probably not be back to play here again but it is a decent course.
older course but still a lot of fun
windy day made fo some challenging shots but overall a fun course
Nice for a change
Has lots of changes hole by hole, nothings the same. Lots of different looks and you get to use lots of the clubs in your bag. Greens are a challenge, not a whole lot of flat straight putts.
Great Course Nice Greens
I would recommend this course for all skill levels. The greens were nice and the fairways were better than average. The staff was friendly and I have zero complaints about the course. If you can play this course for less than $20, definetly book a tee time, it is well worth it.
former pga course with great features
The course offers good challenges. The greens rolled pretty true. A great value for the price.
This course has the layout to potentially be a "Good" course.
The greens were in pretty good condition. The fairways were dry and hard. The course was purchased by the city a couple of years ago with water rites included. It doesn't appear that the water is being used on the course. The sand traps are like concrete. Right now, it's playable enough if you want to get away from a links, or shorter course, but for the future, I can't see playing it regularly if there isn't substantial work completed on the playing conditions. Other courses to choose from where I live that are in better condition.
Course has character.
Great old course layout. Lots of trees, stay in fairway. Course has gone through lots of changes , in ownership, last ten years. Hope the City of Hesperia can improve conditions.
Fun former PGA tour course
Fun course for a hack like me. Got to break 90 here. Was nice feeling to make pars where some of the greats did. Even got to hit a squirrel.
Love the maturity of the course.
Great time every time I play hesperia is a very challenging course wonderful staff.
