Peaceful and scenic day of golf

Desert Willow is a fantastic executive course (no par 5s) who’s most noticeable characteristic is it’s extreme quietness. No birds, cars, trucks, residents in their backyards, etc. I don’t think I’ve ever been on a course that peaceful before. The course is also situated in the up scale Macdonald Ranch area of Las Vegas/Henderson with views of large cliff side homes in one direction and the entire Vegas valley (The Strip) in the other direction. The golf cart refreshment also has full menu available which they will bring to you once the plate is done e.g. turkey club with fries.

The grounds crew has to be one of the best in Vegas. The course from T to Green is always manicured but the overall green scape is scenic throughout. All of Vegas is water conscious but it seems like Desert Willow has it figured out.

We played the course in just under 3 hours. The course was in great condition, having been recently seeded.

The greens were in speedy and excellent condition save for unfixed ball divots on the green. My friends and I repaired perhaps 5-7 on each green played.

The traps are in great shape except for two which have too many rocks in them. We played around them when we were in them. The starter, as always was terrific. And told us the speed of the greens.

I play this course a lot, because I can play many par threes here, while on 72 par courses, we can only play 4. This offers great iron practice.

I am looking forward to my next round here.
