Desert Pines Golf Club is often referred to as "The Pinehurst" of Las Vegas. It offers a Carolina sandhills experience, yet is conveniently located just minutes from downtown or the Strip. This Dye design features thousands of mature pine trees lining the well-groomed fairways where white sand bunkers protect large, undulating, bent grass greens. Because of the large number of pine trees, often times this course is cooler than other courses in the heat of the summer. Although there are no forced carries, water comes into play on 9 of the 18 holes.

Las Vegas Golfing

We were excited to try this course out - we had tee times on Friday 3/26 and Saturday 3/27. It was very disappointing. Friday was so over booked, it took over 3 hours to get to hole 11 and it was backed up so we decided to leave to meet family on the strip for dinner. When we shared our decision with staff, there was little reaction - another couple was doing the same thing when we left. Also, before we decided to leave, The cart employee asked us on hole 5 if we wanted sandwiches that she just sold out but was headed back to get more - we said yes. We didn’t see her again until 10th hole - when I asked her about sandwiches, she said she did grab more but sold out again before getting to us. No apology or anything.

Saturday, we had a 9am tee time. It was a slow day again but moved better than Friday. We golfed 18 and left. The driving range was machine purchased balls and you hit off artificial turf pads. Hubby didn’t care for that so we didn’t warm up the second day.

Too many courses to choose from in Las Vegas so we won’t go back to this course on future trips.

Staff was super friendly and nice but course is in rough shape and gets overbooked

Everyone we spoke to and interacted with were all really nice but the greens are dying, a few greens are completely dead so the course is in horrible shape and the pace of play is dreadfully slow.

Target golf with several dangerous approaches

I don't think this course was worth the money. The greens were very bumpy and the round took more than five hours. Didn't see a ranger out there at all.

The design is target with some very narrow fairways and several very deep bunkers. There are also several holes where you need to drive up on the same cart path where people are teeing off.

Beautiful course, no good greens

The people were wonderful, but the course was just average. The greens were just not nice, and below average.

Just ok

Would recommend for anyone to play it once but that’s enough. Could use some Marshaling. Course was in good shape

Great Value

Excellent value for a Vegas Course. Somewhat challenging, but not overly challenging. First time here and would definitely play here again. The staff all were extremely helpful and friendly.

Short Dye course. Green needs improvement

The overall course condition is fair. Tee box and fairway is good but green needs improvement. The pace is not good. The starter needs to do a better job to eliminate single or twosome to better control the overall pace. The course is not long but lots of bunkers. Not very impressed with the course design.

1st time playing here

Pete Dye design, lots of tricky pin placements and collection areas that my ball ended up in going for the flags. Great pace of play, took 4 hours. Short course, but lots of tough shots with all the bunkers. Played in mid-March, course was nice but I'm sure by April/May it will be really nice. Only thing that was really lacking was the condition of the greens, they were just okay right now. Would definitely play again when I'm in town. Probably not worth what I paid, but wasn't too outrageous either compared to some of the other courses out there. Fairly close to the strip too, maybe 15 mins at most.

Great day

I had never played at desert pines before and am a avid golfer and I’m upset I’ve never been. No one in front of me being the first time out and no one for miles behind. Greens were a little slower than I’m used to however that comes with morning play. Great course and worth the money
