Painted Desert Golf Club
About
One of the pioneers in Las Vegas golf, Painted Desert Golf Course is a 1987 Jay Morrish design has golfers shooting at targets in the desert.
Painted Desert has maintained its place in the Sin City golf community through all its changes by putting on an emphasis on course conditioning. Just because your greens are almost two decades old does not mean they cannot be in better shape than many of the new kids on the block.
The desert is the focus here, but Morrish also works in a few lakes as obstacles.
"This golf course is a very friendly layout and you can score here without having a feeling of imminent doom on every hole," John Scappatura said. "We are a bit off of the beaten path, which means that we almost always have availability for tee times. Everyone who does make the trip out here though appreciates our conditioning, the price, and the friendly atmosphere."

What a great place to play golf!
It was a beautiful sunny day. The "cart guy" that met us in the parking lot was the best! We had wet towels on our carts, free driving range balls, and the guy in the club house was all over it;calling me by name as I walked in. The group ahead of us was a little slow, but I was having a better than normal round on a course that I've never played before so I was having a great time. One of those that you wished would never end. And always a plus to have a super friendly "beverage cart girl". We'll be back!
Good value for a very nice course.
The conditions of the tee boxes, the fairways, and right up to the greens were in very good. I'm not the straighest driver, so there were some tough times for me. The fairways, once in them, were nice to hit off of, without a lot of extreme challenges. The greens were in excellant shape and provided us with some trying times as well.
Great place to play.
This has some of the best views in Las Vegas. The course plays well and the condition of the fairways and greens is good.
Pretty easy to play, nice day in cool sunny Las Vegas
We teed off late due to course being frozen. If you play early make sure it is not frozen.
The Bar Personnel made the day... Bonnie made the entire day, with Breakfadt while we waited, drinks at the turn and Lunch afterwards!!
Beautiful Golf Experience
THE COURSE
Painted Desert is proof that a course does not need to be branded with a Miller or Nicklaus or Dye to be a great track,
Painted Desert is in a sub division of homes and placed with such skill and landscape it is one of the best places to play in Vegas.
FAIRWAYS AND TEES
Fairways are excellent condition. Tees have nice even grass but a bit uneven or bumpy in spots but over all very good. Tees are green emeralds in the dusty desert landscape. Sorry no brass between tee and fairway's :)
GREENS
Excellent
CLUBHOUSE
Good. Very Typical and have all you need
PRACTICE FACILITIES
Par for the course.!!
Just a great place to play!!
Nice course and fair to play
The course was in good condition, the different colours along the fairways are beautiful.
worth golfing, but falling behind in value
played Nov 30, very windy , cool but not cold. No gps in carts, no free range balls to warm up. no markers for 100 yds. Friendly staff. No great views on course. some greens had dead spots. followed a 4 some, waited on every shot but still got done in 4 hrs. started 11am, got done before dusk. Golf now hot deal $50 ok deal, have played here for $25, smoking deal. not too far from strip
This is an excellent course with great views of the mountains
My wife and i enjoyed this course. Friendly crew with excellent views of the mountains. Greens and fairways were in very good condition. We enjoyed our golf outing and will play it again when we return to Las Vegas.
Excellent course 20 minutes off the strip.
Booked Painted Desert the day before on Golfnow and paid only $40 which has to be one of the best values in Vegas. Entire course was in top condition with very fast greens. Course is a typical desert layout with an emphasis on accuracy. Staff was super and they even got us out 20 minutes early. Course was not overly packed and we finished up in just over 4 hours. Will definately play this course the next time we are in Vegas.
Great course
Great course needs a book or some kind of layout summary I got into trouble because of unfamiliarity with the course would definitely play course again
We played 3 different courses in the Vegas area and enjoyed this one the most.
The course was in good condition and all staff were friendly/helpful. Even though the greens had just been top dressed, the speed was still very good. We found the pace of play to be very slow (just under 5 hours). There was a Player's Assistant, who seemed more concerned with filling divots than he was with keeping the pace moving. Overall, an enjoyable day and we'd play there again.
Fun course
The course had great scenery, had more potential if course was maintained a little better. The grass throughout the course was not healthy a lot of muddled areas. Every time I hit my approach shot I dug a lot of mud and grass. I shot 70 and it was my first time picking up a club in 2 months so it was easy. All in all good value I would def play again if course was in better condition.
Great course!
Great condition. Beautiful views of mountains on most holes. Will play again next time in Vegas.
This is a very playable course.
Greens were very receptive. All three of us had iron shots that either stuck or backed up. Fairways were in beautiful shape. I have played the course many times over a 9 year period, mostly during the peak season, and this was the best playing conditions that I have had at Painted Desert.
would recommend the track to my occasional playing partners.
Some tight fairways and good greens
This course is in good shape. I would recommend it to my friends.
Great course to visit and play.
The course was in very good condition. Holes are very playable yet have good challenges. The sand traps are in good condition and are challenging. Has some tight holes and some wide open holes.
There are a few holes you have to think about what to hit to play the hole successfully.
Pro shop was nice and the staff was very helpful and friendly.
A good track for the money
Played the morning of 10/27. When we arrived they were having their member/guest event. Only problem was the driving range was full as groups were getting ready to tee off. Had an 8AM tee time but the starter asked us if we would like to get out ahead of the tournament, which we did. Course was in very good condition. Greens rolled well and fairways were nice. Rough was extremely sticky. Overall a descent experience. I play this course 3-4 times a year and have no qualms about returning again. I would definitley reccommend it for future rounds.
Not a ggod value for the money.
I played Revere Lexington the day before for the same green fee. RL fee included range balls and water on the cart. RL was in much better condition. PD needs to cut the rough.
Great course
The only thing we had a problem with playing this course was our t-time was for 11:04 and they were backed up until almost 12 noon. But once we got off, wow, what a course. Beautiful and well maintained. But be forwarned, stay out of the rough. When they mean rough, they don't kid around.
The green were very nice and the layout itself was well thought out and very fun. I shot 42 on the front and had one of those 'rough' moments on 18 to shoot 88. The could use better sand in the bunkers, but I understand because it does get windy out there. When we played it was a Chamber of Commerce day, no wind and about 85-90 degrees. Just about perfect. It was very hard and difficult to get under the ball. Other than that, enjoy a fantastic course.
Nice old school course
The course has mature trees, rough very challenging, greens in good condition. Staff was as good as it gets. At $65 it was a great saturday morning value.
