Las Vegas National Golf Course
About
A traditional golf course in the land of faux waterfalls, shooting fountains and mountains, Las Vegas National Golf Club is actually part site of Tiger Woods' first win on the PGA Tour.
Las Vegas National was part of the rotation of the Las Vegas Invitational when Woods broke onto the Tour in 1996. Tiger actually won the Las Vegas Invitational (then a 90-hole, multi-course event) with a final round 64 on the private TPC at Summerlin track, erasing David Love III's four-stroke lead.
Average hackers will find a course with plenty of trees in the desert and five inventive par 3s that give National much of its character. This isn't desert golf. It's old school golf with palm trees and sand.
It is also very close to the Strip, just a few turns and about a 10-minute drive away. The area's built up around it with fast-food shops, but the Rat Pack era style remains alive within Las Vegas National's grounds.
"As you pull into the lot at Las Vegas National, the sense of the sixties is evident in the rectangular pastel colored stucco clubhouse that might have seemed modernistic back then, but now is a charming reminder of an architecturally dated style," TravelGolf.com writer Doug Saunders said.

VERY SLOW Play
I was disappointed at the green... when I played there in December 2020, the course was in much better condition, the green was nice. Yesterday most of the greens were diseased, lumping, bumping, not very nice. Also, there were no course marshal, the starter let a single player out after 2 sets of 4somes (buddies), and before our group which was a 3some and there was 2 some behind us. Instead of putting the single with our group or the 2some behind us, the course was held up every hole. one set of 4some let him played thru, but now he's in between the 2 foursomes, holding up people. Finally at the turn around, after the 9th hole, the 2some behind us left. It was also very hot out and the cart girl last call was before 3pm, when we were only at the 7th hole, due to the hold up.... there need to be a marshal out there or the starter needs to pair up people properly. It was NOT a fun afternoon, waiting and waiting after every hole. I tried to called the pro shop and NO ONE answer the phone.
The old courses in good shape
This was my first time playing here, the course is in good condition fairways are very nice greens don’t hold well but do putt true. There is actually sand in the bunkers and rakes it was strange to play with those open again but this course was a lot of fun and the staff was awesome.
Wonderful Course
All I can say is this is one of the best courses in Vegas pace of play was fast we were done at exactly 4 hours very friendly staff and wonderful restaurant maybe the cart girl could have came around more often only saw her one time but lots of character lots of history overall just a really fun course greens were in great condition for February. Always love to come back and play this course. Felt sorry for the girl selling the hotdogs at the snack bar somebody turned her in for not wearing her mask properly and she was not having a very good day because of that not sure why people have to be mean to other people but she was awesome to us even though she was feeling bad... Don’t be mean people!
Greens need some help
The history of the course is superb. The greens need some help but it is mid-winter even in Las Vegas. I really enjoyed the round with plaques on several tees showing what stars lived in the houses, what movies were shot there. The Bar afterwards with all the photos of stars, players, etc. is most impressive.
Superb Staff
Even though I accidentally booked a foursome for a Sunday (meant for Sat), Joe was able to pull some strings and got us out the same time on Sat. He turned the day from a disaster to one of the most enjoyable rounds I have played. The layout feels like a PGA course but is not that difficult if you play it smart. The greens were immaculate, the fairways were a little tight (due to the time of year), and the rough was dormant, but completely playable.
Got another t-time set up in a couple of weeks...can’t wait to go back!
We played in January so fairway grass was a little skinny. Nice old clubhouse and friendly staff.
A must
So much history at the course that you have to play it at least once. Signs on the course tell the story of certain holes and how the Pros did on them. Someone shot a 14 on 14!! Have to find out yourself. Plus the houses surrounding the course are from old Vegas. Movie stars, other famous owners homes surround it. The course was in good shape. Friendly staff. Pace of play was good.
Great Course with History
If you love pop culture from the 60s/70s, the movie casino, Rat Pack ---- this is the course for you! Signage with history throughout the course. Played in winter and still well maintained.
Great day
We arrived early because we did not factor the change in time from AZ to Nevada. The staff was very nice and allowed my wife to freshen up and use the facility. We had breakfast. The practice balls were included, and it was nice to warm up. I was paired up with a gentleman whose names is Ed. It was a great day of golf and Ed was perfect company, I will be back to play again.
Nice course close to the strip
This course is very close to the strip and is like a oasis in the middle of concrete jungle. Staff very friendly, offers free range balls and bottled water. Course layout is good, with water coming into play in quite a few holes. Signs throughout the course shows historical anecdote, especially what Tiger Woods shot in 1996 to win the Las Vegas Invitational. The pace of play is a little bit slow, we have to wait on every hole. We barely finished before it's dark.
