Primm Valley Golf Club - Desert Course
About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2024.
Primm Valley Golf Club boasts two championship courses designed by Tom Fazio. On the Desert Course, Fazio fully utilized the rugged landscape and scenic views offered by the mountains in the distance. Like many of his designs, the Desert Course blends seamlessly into the beautiful surroundings. It is a straightforward layout with no hidden tricks but there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking beside the undulating greens to provide some challenges. The golf course also requires a few tricky forced carries. The fairways are generous and offer some room for error, making the course more appealing to beginners. In addition to the two golf courses, Primm Valley also offers extensive practice facilities that include a double-ended driving range, target greens, practice putting greens, and chipping and pitching greens with sand bunkers.

Great track!!!!
Played with my closest friend yesterday and got T time for Lakes course. Was a bit backed up w bad 4 some ahead and by 4th hole asked another 2-some behind us to play with. Excellent idea since they were locals and shared how this was there hands down favorite course in Vegas. They have played ALL the courses from Wynn, Cascata, TPC, Bali Hai and on and on and said hands down BEST and fastest greens ( I totally agree). After the front 9 of Lakes jumped over to the desert back 9 due to it being backed up a bit. SO glad we did and was SO well kept and conditions Pristine. Finishing hole on desert is absolute beauty!!! If I can put pictures up I will and the photos don't do justice. Help was awesome and honestly can't wait to come back. Greens were much slower on desert than lakes and locals told us that.... The desert is just more up hill shots at times but you cannot go wrong w either..... I got amazing deal on golfnow and was WELL worth the $$$$
Nice course
Primm was a pretty nice course - in good shape for February but you need to be able to put the ball in the fairway. If its windy, get ready for a challenging day.
Nice greens - rolled true and firm.
A bit of a drive from Vegas but, if you are looking for a good course without houses on any holes, this is a good choice.
This course has challenging sloped fairways.
Course layout was good. Driver tee shots can prove to be tricky without good accuracy. The left-to-right & vice versa sloped fairways could land an otherwise good tee shot in a fairway bunker or lateral hazard. Would definitely recommend this course.
2 very nice courses
Tee times were backed up 1/2 hour due to a frost delay. Slow groups in front so we barely finished before dark. No marshals on the course. Normal winter conditions. 2 very nice courses and excellent practice facilities. Show up early to take advantage of the free range. We golf Primm on a regular basis and really like it. Get on their mailing list for special discounts.
Great scenery
Arrived on time, great staff greeting at bag drop and check in.
Golf cart and range balls included in greens fee's.
Fairways were a little tight - winter conditions. Greens were receptive and true. Trust your read. Be prepared to hit your tee shots away from the middle of the fairway, lots of right to left and left to right hillsides. Fazio course, bunkers bunkers and more bunkers and deep. Was lots of fun for winter golf. "cart girl made it to us 5 times during the round" :)
This was fun in the sun.
The staff was eager to help. The course was in great shape and the layout of the course super fun.I cant wait to play there again.
Very nice course
Almost impossible to play due to the windy and cold conditions but somehow managed to finish. Would like to return someday to play it again as it was a very challenging track with very different holes, not boring.
Liked the practice range.
I enjoyed the golf course. Was challenging, weather was good, who could ask for more.
Nice lay out, pretty views.
This is a nicely laid out course. It is a bit tired though. Carts are old, condition of tees and fairways were patchy. Having said that, in the warmer months it could be great. I will play it again. Blue tees for 10 handicap and higher. Don't be afraid to play black tees if you are a single digit player.
Excellent Gem on the way to Vegas!
I booked it for a great rate of $30 on golf now( I would pay full rate gladly as well, it was just a 12:15 tee off which we ended right at sun down), and wow was I impressed. Full service staff, perfect condition course in january. Only bad thing is how fast the greens are, so if there is a hazard play it safe or it will roll like a bad movie into the water. The course is fun at any tee box, challenging risk vs reward shots and beautiful scenery towards the mountains. Since there is a lot of trees the wind was not a factor. I ended up running into a Division 1 pro by the name of Kevin Penner of UNLV and even he frequents this course because of how fun it is. Lakes over desert in my opinion, but desert is a great course as well but best buck play the lakes. I will definately play this course each time I am near it.
Very nice desert course with good layout, challenges and beautiful views.

Lakes Course - Awesome
Really enjoyed this Tom Fazio layout - I'm a big fan. A great mix of holes, some very picturesque and memorable, varied between being long and short. Tee shots are a bit demanding, but fair.
Approach shots were mostly difficult and tough to get close to some pin locations. Some of the bunkers are deep, avoid them! Greens our undulating and fast. With good course management, you should be able to score well
The greens were in bad condition
The course was OK but we had to play the first two fairways that were covered in duck droppings. Found this very disgusting from the beginning. The greens were in poor condition. I understand the previous week's temperatures were below freezing and the pins had not been moved in about 10 days. On the 18th green the hole was about an inch larger than the plastic cup holding the flag stick. I am glad we only paid $36. It was not worth the 40 mile drive to Primm from Vegas.
Oasis in the desert
Primm Desert course was awesome, staff very friendly and wide open. I'm by no means a good golfer but was just challenging enough and fun for a 90 - 100 golfer. Good change of pace from all of the Las Vegas courses we play and great value.
Nice compact layout in the California/Nevada desert.
This was my first visit to Primm Valley - the Lakes Course. Pro shop welcome and guidance was helpful. Practice range was chaos, no organization and not enough spaces with players waiting to warmup. Space on the practice green was also quickly used up. Once on the course things went reasonably well. The layout was very good. Several greens have tiers, or multiple levels so playing more than once is helpful to understand pin locations. There were no marshals on the course. Pricewise this was a great value because I was able to take advantage of the GolfNow "Hot Deal".
I will be back
Lakes course was very senic as well as challenging. It was in good shape for the season. The staff was very friendly and attentive to all our needs. Booking tee time with GolfNow was a very good experience as well. I will return to play the Desert course.
For being in such a harsh environment the course is in such great condition.
Very well kept course. My friends and I enjoyed the course very much. Will definitely go back..
Very driver friendly! Fairways sculpted beautifully.
If you like Fazio courses - don't miss this one. Lots of elevated tee boxes. Generous fairways often with bowled features making them
very user friendly. Beautiful water features including waterfalls and
lakes, surrounded by pines and conifers. Visually very pleasing.
Greens were in great shape and rolled true. Can't wait to play the palm lined desert course next door.
Great Track
Challenging, but fair. All the clubs were used!
Women friendly, except around the greens where most were elevated. Not many "run up" shots here.
Bunker conditions were a little suspect but "okay."
Be careful about tee time. It gets dark earlier than you think.
Pro shop service was excellent.
Must do
Water in the desert, lots of trees and beautiful grass! Worth the short drive from Vegas. Don't miss this course. It is on my bucket list to play again.
