Primm Valley Golf Club - Desert Course
About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2024.
Primm Valley Golf Club boasts two championship courses designed by Tom Fazio. On the Desert Course, Fazio fully utilized the rugged landscape and scenic views offered by the mountains in the distance. Like many of his designs, the Desert Course blends seamlessly into the beautiful surroundings. It is a straightforward layout with no hidden tricks but there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking beside the undulating greens to provide some challenges. The golf course also requires a few tricky forced carries. The fairways are generous and offer some room for error, making the course more appealing to beginners. In addition to the two golf courses, Primm Valley also offers extensive practice facilities that include a double-ended driving range, target greens, practice putting greens, and chipping and pitching greens with sand bunkers.

Primm Lakes
Very friendly staff, easy to get to, course was in very good condition, great value
Great value for the money. Well-maintained and playable course.
Very friendly staff. Course is in very good shape. A little bit of a drive from Vegas, but worth it. The only complaint was the pace of play. The front side went along nicely, but the back was brutal! Two groups waiting on 11 tee. One of the players in front complained of a fivesome ahead (unverified). Would definitely go back and play the Lakes course.
close to the freeway. The course condition is super great
I am sure will go back to play at this course again.
gem in the middle of nowhere
Fazio did an outstanding job of taking a strip of raw desert with no elevations to a terrific layout with lots of elevations, dog legs, water holes, sand bunkers everywhere, elevated greens--a great Fazio accomplishment....can't wait to play it again...and Golf Now via DealCaddy....
Best bang for the buck!
One of the best courses I have played in the Vegas area. Just a 50 minute drive from Red Rock Casino. Staff was friendly and so was the course. Will definitely play here again!
GREAT VALUE AND VARIETY
A bit if a drive from Vegas but well worth it. Often rounds with wind but many challenging hole and many protected from the wind. No complaints when the wind is with you and you smack a drive over "300" Away from town but the seclusion has a back home feeling with many trees, water and bunkers. Great shape with an awesome practice area. No complaints here! Love it!
Very hard greens and sand traps, fairways thin in many spots
Found the greens and sand traps to be very hard. Fairways were chopped up in many areas, course really needs some tender loving care.
Good course, challenging.
Greens are very hard and sand traps are even harder.
Challenging course but fair.
This was the first time we did Primm Valley. The 45 min drive from Vegas was worth the trip. The course was in great condition. Will certainly golf here again.
Cart paths and holes are well marked.
Course is very pretty with its big lake on the first hole and waterfalls near the end. Very nice and pleasing to the eye.
We'll be back again and again
Terrific day of golf at a great course - only lost two balls
Good bang for the buck
i prefer the desert course as some of the greens are too severe for my game on the lakes course. i do enjoy going to primm every time i visit.
Great Course
This was a very good golf experience. From the start, the staff was friendly and helpful. From the first tee to the 18th, this course was in great condition. I thoroughly enjoyed my round as this course provided challenges. The greens were receptive and challenging. I do recommend playing this course.
pace of play off
Desert Course
Very fast front 9; then an extremely slow back 9. 1.5 hour front, 3 hour back.
Made the round seem very long. No marshalls ever seen on the back, so that was a likely issue. But all and all: great course
Primm Valley desert course was in great shape with bunkers coming into play on all holes. Would love to play the Lakes course to compare the two.
Desert course is challenging yet fair. Bunkers come into play on all holes. Great value for the money. Staff goes beyond friendly to assist you in your experience at the club.
No control over pace of play and sand was in horrible condition
We have two groups in front of us playing very slow and there were no marshals on the course to move groups along. We could not play through (although we jumped one group when they stopped at the turn) but the place continued just as slow with the group in front of them, there were two open holes in front of them and we could not play through.
Second issue was the sand on the course, I played the Lakes course and the sand was as hard as the cart paths, could not penetrate and the bounce on the club bounced off a solid surface resulting in skulling shots, reverted to using 9 iron to pick balls off, the sand needs to either be replaced or worked extensively to allow it to be playable.
Definitely one of the nicest courses I've played
I would play this course again. Highly recommended
Beautiful course ... surprisingly green and lush for a true desert facility.
The only reason this course didn't get 5 stars from me was the pace of play. There were too many foursomes packed into an afternoon Tee time which had it so jammed up we had to wait on every hole, resulting in over 5 hours for the round.
Fun round
Played the Lakes Course a couple years ago and wanted to come back and try The Desert. Definitely worth the drive out of Vegas. Desert Course is fair and fun. Nice assortment of hole layouts. Mostly true desert feel, but as you get back toward the clubhouse there are more trees and water. Good value and highly recommended.
given this is in the middle of the desert, amazing condition
great track, nice people, good rate, nice stop en route to vegas from california
