Primm Valley Golf Club - Desert Course

About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2024.
Primm Valley Golf Club boasts two championship courses designed by Tom Fazio. On the Desert Course, Fazio fully utilized the rugged landscape and scenic views offered by the mountains in the distance. Like many of his designs, the Desert Course blends seamlessly into the beautiful surroundings. It is a straightforward layout with no hidden tricks but there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking beside the undulating greens to provide some challenges. The golf course also requires a few tricky forced carries. The fairways are generous and offer some room for error, making the course more appealing to beginners. In addition to the two golf courses, Primm Valley also offers extensive practice facilities that include a double-ended driving range, target greens, practice putting greens, and chipping and pitching greens with sand bunkers.

Challenging layout
Winter conditions on Saturday included dormant fairways, strong winds, minor mold damage to a few greens which were otherwise fast and crowded with Super Bowl weekend golfers.
But, both courses have excellent layouts with challenging designs. Staff members were all very helpful and friendly. Nice bar with food available.
No Reason to Drive 30-Miles from Las Vegas
The course was rough overall with many dead trees, splotchy fairways and damaged greens. Not the old Primm coorses I remember.
Very poor course maintenance
Unfortunately the course was in very bad playing condition. they let the course go a bit. very poor greens, multicolored fairways, dry and dusty. doesn't seem like they water the course at all. played here in the past and was in much better shape. clubhouse and staff are great. will play again when course improves.
Surprising oasis
Good golf, good layout, some very difficult holes , kind of rough in places.
We had a good.round.
Rough track
The course appears to be in disrepair right now, with the fairways extremely thin and bare and and the greens showing some disease periodumb disease. It's not worth any money to play this particular course.
Not a good winter course
With the bermuda being dormant and no rye overseed like some other Vegas courses, the Desert course was in poor condition.
Terrible
Been playing this course 20 years and worst shape ever seen it in patched greens all over lake course run down horse poop all over course on tee boxes looks like knowone been out there in weeks to clean up at least 20 piles of horse poop on lakes course . Visible holes big enough for your ball to fall in on some greens .
STILL CHARGING 50-60 to play very disappointing
Looks as if fired all the staff and knowone maintenance being done and desert course looks and was told by starter was in worse shape.
Course Condition
The course was in terrible condition. It was not worth the price.
ABYSMAL!!!
This course, the Desert at Primm, is in the poorest condition of any course I have ever played. It’s a shame because the layout is a good one, but the course itself is unplayable. Both fairways and greens are in indescribably and unacceptably bad shape. It should be closed down, it’s that bad. The Lakes, on the other hand, looked terrific, so I’m not sure what’s going on there, but steer clear of the Desert course for the foreseeable future.
In very rough condition right now.
I’ve played this course before - but it didn’t look like this. The fairways were pretty bare and the greens were just about un- puttable I could see the Lakes Course and it appeared to be in MUCH better shape. Perhaps all the water was going to that course??? Well, at least the price was a bit lower.
Terrible condition! Don’t waste your money.
The Primm Valley course is in terrible shape. Completely burned out, dead grass, and dirt patches everywhere. The lakes course looks to be in good shape but unfortunately we played the Deseret Course. Don’t waste your time or money!!!
Desert course should be closed
Horrible conditions on the desert course. They should close it and just focus on the lakes. Most of the greens were missing patches of grass, fairway grass is patchy and dead.
For the past couple of years the coarse has not even maintained. Several greens have large areas where there is zero grass, zero root, only a flattened mud patch. Save your money, don’t play the Desert course, book the Lakes course.
Desert course conditions.
Conditions were bad. Fairways were dead and greens were in terrible shape with large damaged areas on almost every green
