Primm Valley Golf Club - Desert Course

About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2024.
Primm Valley Golf Club boasts two championship courses designed by Tom Fazio. On the Desert Course, Fazio fully utilized the rugged landscape and scenic views offered by the mountains in the distance. Like many of his designs, the Desert Course blends seamlessly into the beautiful surroundings. It is a straightforward layout with no hidden tricks but there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking beside the undulating greens to provide some challenges. The golf course also requires a few tricky forced carries. The fairways are generous and offer some room for error, making the course more appealing to beginners. In addition to the two golf courses, Primm Valley also offers extensive practice facilities that include a double-ended driving range, target greens, practice putting greens, and chipping and pitching greens with sand bunkers.

Primm - Desert Course (Nov-2021)
Got a hot deal at Primm Desert Course for a 10:30 tee time. Not really a hot deal when the course is in really bad shape. I should have played the Lakes course, it had greener fairways and greens.
Sad Golf Course
The lobby shows a lot of recognition of high marks received 20 or more years ago. Dramatic fall from grace. Greens are terrible. Unplayable in spots. Overall condition poor. Piles of horse crap and other animal scat all over. Wild horses? Golf Now should remove from their list of courses in the area.
Really poor shape
Both of these tracks at some point I’m sure we’re great. The greens had some type of fungus, and everything is completely dried up. Nothing is green on the desert side. I’ve played almost every course in Vegas and this track is by far in the worst condition. The Lakes side is greener but the greens are completely destroyed. One of the greens was completely trampled by a burro.
I won’t play it again unless someone comes in and cleans this mess up. The layout of both courses is great and I’m sure there’s not enough staff or income to keep in clean. Even the driving range ran out of balls today. There simply isn’t enough staff. Somehow they gotta figure something out if they are gonna stay open because it is a dump right now.
Primm-Desert
Great layout - Fairways in decent shape - Greens were quick but need some work - Enjoyed course and will be back
Desert course has burned out fairways.
I’m afraid it’s days are numbered. The Desert Course has had a water problem as no parts are available at this time. There are burned out fairways and green issues. So let’s talk about the Lakes Course. There are green fairways but the greens are a patch work of a bad Herman Munster show. It looks like Grandpa and Spot went for a walk on all the greens and then Eddie and Lily tried to repair it. Just a foot note; we didn’t see Marilyn. That would have been a high lite. Also the food service ended at 1:00 pm. can you say hungry?
Numerous greens had 3 major sod repairs l. We are talking at least 5X10 total Sod removal.
Poor course conditions
Played the Desert Course. You could tell it was a great layout but has suffered from lack of care. Greens have large bare areas, bunkers poorly maintained, fairways thin and patchy. Trees are dying. Very sad. Still can be a fun course to play. Since no one was on the course played in 3 1/2 hours. Hope they can turn things around.
Ended. Up playing the lakes course. Majority of greens were patched in many places. Very distracting. Good layout offering a variety of club selections
We enjoyed the course!
My girlfriend and I played 18 on the lakes course. The course was in good shape and we enjoyed our round.
Day at the valley
Course conditions were not idea, grass dormant, no over seeding to green it up, bunkers need work, but the views and great layout still make it worth a visit. If I am ever back in the area, will stop and play it again.
Trash course
Stay away the course.
Simply it s total trash course.
The worst condition course ever llayed.
Great layout, poor conditions
Had heard great thing about this course and made the nearly 50 min drive out from Vegas. Course is in very poor shape (Desert). The layout is great but the course is not kept up. Fairways were mostly brown with several muddy areas. Greens had mold or fungus that had killed off much of the gress so youvare putting through dirt patches. Sad that this was not disclosed by Golfnow when booking. Wiuld not have booked a time if I had known about the condituons. Not worth the drive much less the green fees. Staff was excellent but course conditions are currently terrible.
Poor condition
Golf course has been completely lost. Grass is very patchy and diseased. Numerous bare patches, irrigation leaks on all tees fairways and greens.
Very unfortunate because the layout is great. Used to be one of the best values around Vegas. Not anymore.
