About

Holes 18
Type Resort
Par 72
Length 6855 yards
Slope 135
Rating 73.8

The Brigantine/Clipper Course at Shipyard Golf Club combines two of the three nine-hole golf courses on the property for one of the more challenging tests on Hilton Head. Brigantine/Clipper has a rating of 73.5, with a slope of 135 from the championship tees.

Designed by Willard Byrd and built in 1982, alligators sun themselves along the scenic, water hazard-filled Brigantine nine holes. With slight doglegs and well-placed bunkers, this golf course requires shot making and a good short game.

With plenty of sand and water hazards, Clipper may be the most difficult of the nines. This George Cobb design requires a good long game and a soft touch around the greens.

Course is not in good shape. Needs an overhaul from tee to green including golf cart paths.

First time playing on this course. Nice course, plenty of difficult shots. Lots of sand and water hazards to make it interesting.

Not the best

Course is in rough shape and staff treated us like we don’t know what we are doing. I’ve played my entire life (50 years).

Save your $$ for a better experience at another of the plentiful and wonderful courses in Hilton Head Island.

unfortunately we had to play cart path only. Very slow pace, long walks.

There is no on course distance markings which makes this format very challenging.

Shipyard 4/4/24

We had an issue with the cart on the 1st hole. It just stopped working. I tried all manner of things to get it going. Fortunately, our playing companions had an extra cart for a spectator and they let us take over that cart. I promptly called the pro shop through their many layers of choices and steps and reported the issue. Midway through the round someone from the pro shop road up and confronted us and basically accused us of leaving the cart and then claimed no called it in. We explained what happened but guy was all haughty and said the cart was working perfectly fine. Acted like he didn’t believe us. Then he accused us slow play ect. Kinda ruined the mood…

Great course. Too expensive

Fun course and great experience. Just too expensive for the conditions. Have played better courses in wv for half the price we paid on GolfNow which was already a big discount.

Score cards

The scorcards left a lot to be desired... there were no gold tees and the yardages on the blue and white were off on most holes making it very difficult to decide which set of tees to play.

Six hour round

Booked 18 holes but only completed nine. The front nine took almost three hours.due to the course being overbooked and the starter sending out multiple twosomes in a row.

The course was not in great shape. Many better options at a cheaper price.
