The Brigantine/Clipper Course at Shipyard Golf Club combines two of the three nine-hole golf courses on the property for one of the more challenging tests on Hilton Head. Brigantine/Clipper has a rating of 73.5, with a slope of 135 from the championship tees.
Designed by Willard Byrd and built in 1982, alligators sun themselves along the scenic, water hazard-filled Brigantine nine holes. With slight doglegs and well-placed bunkers, this golf course requires shot making and a good short game.
With plenty of sand and water hazards, Clipper may be the most difficult of the nines. This George Cobb design requires a good long game and a soft touch around the greens.

Played 9 with a couple who had played the course before which worked out nicely.. pace of play was slow but finished 9 in 2:20. Back nine was a nicer layout and played as a 2 some in 1:35. Over all will play it again and try the 3rd nine with the galleon 9. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.

I have played course a few times per year for over 25 years and the greens were the best I have ever seen them. I highly recommend. they either have chosen to spend a little money or have a new greens keeper.
