About

Holes 18
Type Resort
Par 72
Length 6855 yards
Slope 135
Rating 73.8

The Brigantine/Clipper Course at Shipyard Golf Club combines two of the three nine-hole golf courses on the property for one of the more challenging tests on Hilton Head. Brigantine/Clipper has a rating of 73.5, with a slope of 135 from the championship tees.

Designed by Willard Byrd and built in 1982, alligators sun themselves along the scenic, water hazard-filled Brigantine nine holes. With slight doglegs and well-placed bunkers, this golf course requires shot making and a good short game.

With plenty of sand and water hazards, Clipper may be the most difficult of the nines. This George Cobb design requires a good long game and a soft touch around the greens.

Slow…..

Staff not very friendly or accommodating.

No rangers to be found on the course to speed up play.

Course was in great shape but they have all skill levels play on this course so they need rangers to move the slow ones who do not appreciate the effect slow play has on the entire playing field

Course in great shaoe

Bunkers greens and fairways all in great shape compared to other HHI courses with winter grass conditions. Course marshal needs to be more diligent in allowing faster groups to play through slower groups as we had to pass a 4 some on a par 3 including their players using the restroom when there were 2 open holes ahead of them. Lack of self awareness.

Worth every penny

This place is a true gem. From tee box to greens, perfect conditions. Roughs are dormant, but they over-seeded everything else and it’s as green as can be. We were lucky and got a hot deal for $50. But we would have been just as happy if paid $80 or so per golf now. Highly recommended

Inviting Course and Staff

I was a first-time visitor to Shipyard for my afternoon round of golf…and I was so impressed with both the course and the staff.

The course was in great shape for Winter conditions - mid-February - and it was a breeze to enjoy the round, with fewer golfers hitting the links this time of year. There are several courses at Shipyard - I played Brigantine - which is probably considered moderately difficult. Challenging…but there were no holes where I found myself in panic mode.

Most importantly - the staff. The employees here made the experience an absolute pleasure. From the moment I arrived to the moment I departed…the staff made the round of golf an A+ experience. For that reason alone, I will recommend Shipyard to everyone I know.

Thank you!

Great course

The over seeding of the fairways made them creep green even in February. The greens were immaculate and smooth. The staff is excellent and friendly. I recommend this to any golfer who is mid level or better. There are many challenging shots, so this course is not for a beginner.

Great Course

Very nice course with excellent fairways and greens. The starter put us behind a very slow group playing from the greens which was very frustrating but guess that's just luck of the draw. Lots of good sized gators throughout the course.
