Blackhawk Golf Club
About
Blackhawk rests on the site of an old dairy farm, where the rolling terrain is suited for this links-style layout. This wide-open course features lots of water, loads of bunkers, and huge greens that are easy to three-putt if your approaches are off and you don’t have that feel for lag putting.
Each side has a punishing finishing hole. No. 9 is a monstrous par 4 that plays 464 yards. Off the tee, the narrow landing area is not conducive for the necessary booming drive, and the water causes problems in the fairway and around the green.
Hole 18 plays 430 yards, requiring a tee shot into the dogleg-right fairway that must thread two bodies of water.
The club prefers that you walk only on weekdays.
Getting there : Take I-35 north out of Austin, then exit FM 1825 east. Drive 5 miles to Hwy. 685 and turn left. Drive another 2.5 miles to Kelly Ln. and turn right.

Good course for the money
The course is solid for the most part. For 25 bucks you can’t really beat it around atx. The one thing that this course is in desperate need of is some work on the greens along with filling the bunkers with sand. Once that happens this has the potential to be an awesome course!
Ouch
Didn’t want to play here as I’d seen the reviews. A buddy booked here so went along for the ride. Felt taken at nearly $60. Reviews are true . Just don’t change over $20 and it’s a fair deal given the shape that’s it’s in. I’d have to say the roughest track in town. Not one to leave a negative review but @ $60 I’m going to voice my opinion
Two options for Blackhawks
Lower the green fee or improve course management.
As a foreigner visiting Texas, Black Hawks left me bad taste!!!
Probably the worst in Austin area
I can’t believe they charge $50 for this. all 20 greens (18 course +2 practice) are sand traps instead of greens. Also, greens have all sorts of weeds growing up through them. Can’t tell what is fairway or rough from the tee box. Staff was nice, but this course should be shutdown for repairs. Driving range was in poor condition as well.
Poor condition
As the title states, the course conditions were not good. Huge mud patches in the middle of many fairways made it better to be in the rough. More weeds than grass on the greens (when it wasn’t just sand). The course layout is fun with many hidden water features, but the conditions need much improvement. Also no marshal was out from 8-2pm on this day, allowing groups to be extremely slow. Shouldn’t have taken 5.5 hours to play.
Overpriced.
They charge $50 per person for a course that is very poorly maintained. The greens are like sandy concrete which is ironic because the bunkers are devoid of sand. This course could be great but it’s been long neglected by the owner.
Horrible green conditions and fairway conditions. Was like playing on a goat track. Staff was extremely friendly so that might things a little better,
.
In horrible condition.
This course was in rough shape. I was trying to take advantage of the course being close to my house but it was very disappointing. Everything from the condition of the golf carts to the lack of grass in the fairways and weed-stricken tees and greens... outright horrible. Please save your money and do NOT play here.
What a goat track!
Staff is rude. No kitchen staff. Horrible course. Worst greens I've ever seen. $60 a round.
Not good
Maybe the worst shape I’ve seen this course in and that says a lot. Greens were horrendous.
The only reason to ever play here is if it’s close to you and it’s very last minute (and super desperate to get out)…as you will get tee times.
Let's see how long the course survives
Blackhawk has gotten worse and worse over the years. They don't even have drinking water on the course anymore. I'd be shocked if this course is around much longer.
