Blackhawk Golf Club
About
Blackhawk rests on the site of an old dairy farm, where the rolling terrain is suited for this links-style layout. This wide-open course features lots of water, loads of bunkers, and huge greens that are easy to three-putt if your approaches are off and you don’t have that feel for lag putting.
Each side has a punishing finishing hole. No. 9 is a monstrous par 4 that plays 464 yards. Off the tee, the narrow landing area is not conducive for the necessary booming drive, and the water causes problems in the fairway and around the green.
Hole 18 plays 430 yards, requiring a tee shot into the dogleg-right fairway that must thread two bodies of water.
The club prefers that you walk only on weekdays.
Getting there : Take I-35 north out of Austin, then exit FM 1825 east. Drive 5 miles to Hwy. 685 and turn left. Drive another 2.5 miles to Kelly Ln. and turn right.

D-
Staff was very friendly but the course is next to unplayable. Greens are half dirt and fairways full of weeds and dirt piles.
Good for Beginners/ just a round of golf
Look, the course needs work, greens aren’t great around the edges, weeds in fairways, we’ve all seen the reviews. But the course is actually really cleverly laid out, spacious fairways, greens are good where it matters & it’s not as pricey as everywhere else in Austin. Finished a round with my wife who had a lot of fun, didn’t have too many obstacles to worry about & didn’t know the difference between good and great. Understand, the course ain’t perfect, drop your ball in a nice patch of fairway and play on. Could do with a starter to maintain pace of play as well, but look. If you want to play golf, this is a golf course that is challenging and clever in spots. Life is too short to not have fun on a golf course, enjoy the round, but understand it’s a work in progress.
A Joke
I feel terrible for the staff out here. The course is horrendous. The fairways if you want to call them that are the exact same as the rough. It’s like hitting down a concrete road. The fairways are so hard your drive will run 20 to 30 yards further than normal. The greens… I’ve never seen so many different patches of grass. It’s just sad. The grounds crews all but gave up on the bunkers. There all grass now. There is no bunkers. It’s just sad. 50.00 bucks is overpriced for this. It’s just bad
Poor Conditions and filthy clubhouse restrooms
This course was in terrible condition. Greens had St Agustine patches running through the turf. Greens had multiple dead spots and were shaggy. Cups looked like they had not been recut in several days. The restrooms were disgusting beyond explanation. Looks like they haven't been cleaned in months. Urinals were leaking water from the fittings. I will not return or recommend this place to anyone. I can't even call this a golf course. It's aweful!
The worst shape I have ever seen it in
Greens were terrible, crab grass and dirt patches on most greens throughout the course. Fairways were terrible, dried out and honestly looks like they have no course maintenance crew. I have played on courses this bad before but they only cost $35 -$40 to play.
This course was charging $55 a player.
I paid for the entire 4-some and one of the guys should up right b4 tee time and the staff charged him. I had to go inside and tell the same guy that we were all pd up. He did refund but c’mon. You show everyone pd on your computer for that tee time. Just a bad experience overall. The cart girl and concessions people were friendly. But do not play here unless you check it out in person first. It is a goat ranch.
Decent Course for the Money
It’s a fun course to play but the greens are in terrible condition.
Not bad, not good
The course is getting better, but the greens need a lot of work.
Better kept in the summer
I could be wrong but it seem like the small and big things at the course were finally getting the attention they needed. I believe it is because how many younger kids they hired that are eager to work & have plenty of time being out of school. Greens finally started smoothing out, trash was emptied at each tee box and they cart girl made frequent visits during our road. Definitely the best road I have had hear in a while.
