Blackhawk Golf Club
About
Blackhawk rests on the site of an old dairy farm, where the rolling terrain is suited for this links-style layout. This wide-open course features lots of water, loads of bunkers, and huge greens that are easy to three-putt if your approaches are off and you don’t have that feel for lag putting.
Each side has a punishing finishing hole. No. 9 is a monstrous par 4 that plays 464 yards. Off the tee, the narrow landing area is not conducive for the necessary booming drive, and the water causes problems in the fairway and around the green.
Hole 18 plays 430 yards, requiring a tee shot into the dogleg-right fairway that must thread two bodies of water.
The club prefers that you walk only on weekdays.
Getting there : Take I-35 north out of Austin, then exit FM 1825 east. Drive 5 miles to Hwy. 685 and turn left. Drive another 2.5 miles to Kelly Ln. and turn right.

Greens are sub par, fairways are so so, restrooms leave alot to be desired, need to clean floors or change them n toilet seats differently need to be changed, they look old n really, really used. So either bring it up to standards or sell it. Cart path
Along the way needs many repairs before someone hurts themselves, otherwise layout of
Course is good n you could bring in more golfers
If updates are made
Awful
This will most likely be the worst course you ever play on. The fairways and rough are indistinguishable and are solid as concrete. The greens have weeds growing on them, so forget even being able to putt. It looks like it's been abandoned but yet you're still asked to pay a pretty penny. Icing on the cake is no water coolers on the course. Spend your money elsewhere, hopefully they close soon.
Don’t Bother- EVER
I’m not quick to write a bad review for anyone as we all know that’s usually mad people venting….this isn’t that…I’m not mad. I even used to be a member at the Hawk many moons ago and they kept things relatively nice. Over time conditions have worsened but they always made a point to keep the greens in good to great conditions. So you knew it’d be pasture golf til you got to the greens but you could putt okay. Now there’s weeds growing in every green and your ball just hops as you wonder how they get away with screwing people outta their money. Sorry Blackhawk- never again.
Course is getting better!
The course conditions have improved a lot! There’s noticeably more grass on the fairways, rough, and greens. There’s still some dead spots here and there, but not as many as before in the past few months.
The greens and green side areas can still use improvement though. Would help to get cut the grassy patches around the greens. Also, the soft dirt around the greens made chipping and pitching really difficult..
The staff was friendly as usual!
All in all, enjoyed playing here and will come again soon
An Embarrassment
It's the cheapest course in Austin and still over-priced.
The bathrooms are revolting!
The greens are trash.
The pace of almost 5 hours
And they ran out of their old, shabby carts.
There's no water on the course.
Barely any shade trees.
The clubhouse is disgusting.
Did I mention the restrooms were revolting?
This pee-soaked restrooms are the perfect metaphor for Blackhawk!
Severe neglect of course
If you're looking for a casual round, don't care about the condition of the course, and can book at a low price, then this may be a good option. But don't come with high expectations.
First - I'd like to say that the staff was great! Understaffed at the snack bar, but everyone was very friendly.
Sadly, I struggle to find something good to say about the course condition. The fairways are very hard, underwatered, and have several ruts and dips in it. I think I lost a filling from the jarring ride on the golf cart. The greens are the worst I've ever seen - something (weed?) is growing into the green, so it's impossible to get a smooth roll. Much of the green has dead grass. Some of the cups have uneven cuts - more like chunks that fell into the hole because the dirt & grass was too dry.
The clubhouse and carts also need a lot of TLC. There's no coolers on the carts, so you'll have to take your beverages in trashbags of ice (which leak onto the bags during the game). Many of the carts have tears on the seats.
For a little extra money, you can play a much better conditioned course.
Sell it or Close it
This place is in absolute disarray. Weeds and sand all.over the bunkers, can't tell the difference between the fairway and rough. Bald areas all over the fairways. Doesn't look like it's been watered or maintained in years. Putting was an absolute guess as to the bounces you're going to get. If your brand new to the game this is fine but otherwise steer clear.
Very disappointing
Used to love playing Blackhawk GC - it’s a nice layout, but the course conditions, especially the greens were something I would not recommend. Most of the greens had large spots of poa or zoysia throughout so there was no way to putt accurately. The conditions are so bad that it will take a long time for the greens to recover even with lots of effort and financial investment.
Such a sad course
I initially picked this course because I was trying to get a quick round in and it was the cheapest around. I quickly learned that there is a reason it’s so cheap. The course conditions are terrible. I don’t think there was a single blade of living grass. The greens were god awful. I will not be coming back here.
Very Slow Players
Maybe first day this year it was a good day to get out for a round of golf. This course was packed at 2:30. Our tee time was 2:48 and we didn’t get our cart till almost 3:00. Marshall was doing his best to keep everyone on time.
There were 2 guys that were assigned to play with us. Despite being crowded , there was no one in front of them and each time they were on the tee box, they took at least 3-5 minutes before teeing off. On number 4 it appears one golfer is videotaping his partner swinging the club. Not playing but just swinging.
Not what you do during a round of golf.
Terrible!
The course was mostly dirt and the greens had different grasses growing on them. Putting was impossible. My golf cart died and it took them 25 minutes to replace it. We had to walk. The server in the grill was great
