Blackhawk Golf Club
About
Blackhawk rests on the site of an old dairy farm, where the rolling terrain is suited for this links-style layout. This wide-open course features lots of water, loads of bunkers, and huge greens that are easy to three-putt if your approaches are off and you don’t have that feel for lag putting.
Each side has a punishing finishing hole. No. 9 is a monstrous par 4 that plays 464 yards. Off the tee, the narrow landing area is not conducive for the necessary booming drive, and the water causes problems in the fairway and around the green.
Hole 18 plays 430 yards, requiring a tee shot into the dogleg-right fairway that must thread two bodies of water.
The club prefers that you walk only on weekdays.
Getting there : Take I-35 north out of Austin, then exit FM 1825 east. Drive 5 miles to Hwy. 685 and turn left. Drive another 2.5 miles to Kelly Ln. and turn right.

Greens are terrible
Fairways are average but EVERY green is half dirt. the other half of every green is half dead grass.
Bad owners
The owner of this course refuses to maintain the course. Greens are in horrible condition the fairways are patchy at best. Water spewing out of the sprinkler system, no water coolers on the course also. I would not play this course again especially for the money you have to spend.
Don’t bother
They need to shut this place down and rebuild it. Clubhouse is gross and it feels like the floor is going to collapse. Course is in horrendous shape… easily the worst I’ve ever seen. The fact that they charge $50 is crazy.
Don't bother
Worst course experience in a long time. Not enough carts for the scheduled tee times, we were delayed 40 minutes. The starter let two other groups ahead of us with later tee times. Course is in horrible shape which I knew going in, the customer service was the reason for the poor review.
It was the worst condition course I’ve ever played. The greens and fairways were horrible
Nice layout
Nice layout but all greens were in terrible condition.
This course is not at all maintained and not at all playable. This course is potholes, dirt patches, weeds and overgrown fairways. Cannot even putt due to condition of greens. The clubhouse looks like a run down abandoned building. The carts are dirty and have destroyed upholstery.
Not worth a full price green fee.
Barely worth a $20 afternoon green fee and a $50 weekend fee is a total waste of money. The upside is since no one plays it much a tee time is easily available when other area courses are booked.
Greens are horrible. Very little grass and heavily spotted with poa ana. So much so that putting is like bumper pool bouncing your ball from spot to spot. Green collars are undefined and poorly kept so that chipping and pitching around the greens is both an adventure and a joke.
Tee boxes are also poorly kept and often very un-level. Not much grass on them either mostly sand and dirt.
Overall it is obvious that no money is being spent on the golf course. However it does appear that a lot of water and money is being wasted in a few places because standing water was in quite a few places It is another example of the lack of interest management has in the appearance and play ability of the course.
I only gave the course 1 star because that is the minimum but I’d really rate it as at least a negative 1 star.
I’ll continue to play a late Friday afternoon 9 because it’s generally open and quick but I’ll make every effort to never subject anyone else to this golf course.
