Blackhawk Golf Club
About
Blackhawk rests on the site of an old dairy farm, where the rolling terrain is suited for this links-style layout. This wide-open course features lots of water, loads of bunkers, and huge greens that are easy to three-putt if your approaches are off and you don’t have that feel for lag putting.
Each side has a punishing finishing hole. No. 9 is a monstrous par 4 that plays 464 yards. Off the tee, the narrow landing area is not conducive for the necessary booming drive, and the water causes problems in the fairway and around the green.
Hole 18 plays 430 yards, requiring a tee shot into the dogleg-right fairway that must thread two bodies of water.
The club prefers that you walk only on weekdays.
Getting there : Take I-35 north out of Austin, then exit FM 1825 east. Drive 5 miles to Hwy. 685 and turn left. Drive another 2.5 miles to Kelly Ln. and turn right.

Wide open
Great driving course, on in two on a few par 4's. You can survive missed shots.
Caught up to 2 foursomes that slowed everything down....
18 is hard to decide where to go with water easily drivable so cut to the right i guess.
Great course
I love the layout! There are a mix of challenging and forgiving holes throughout the front and back nine.
Winter Golf
This is the first time I have played this course. It is a little rough but not bad for the winter. The cost wasn't bad as I got the senior rate.
Someone needs to burn this course down and get it over with.
The tittle says it all.
Unless you’re a brand new golfer , don’t even waste your time thinking about playing here. I’m pretty sure they just use this place to launder money.
Overpriced
Course is rough. Not the “I mishit the ball and now must play from challenging conditions“ kind of rough, but “I’m going to crack a vertebra driving my cart to get my ball” kind of rough.
Good layout, the greens run true if a bit slow and bumpy, but needs some TLC. Trade someone a year of free golf to smooth it out with a small crawler dozer and seed / water the fairways. Or drop the price about $10 a round.
Goat pasture
Not worth the time or money. No grass on greens. Not a level tee box anywhere.
Wide open
First course I've played in Texas.
Loved it
Room for errors for a guy from Alaska!
Fun layout
For Blackhawk , the course was in pretty good shape. The greens were in good shape , a little too firm and fast for my liking though. Fairways are are super firm with tight lies . For the money though it’s a great deal , paid $24. Most people know BH isn’t what it used to be , but it’s still a fun round.
Also , the carts have seen better days lol.
Friendly for beginners
Fairly easy course with large fairways and some fun tricky shots. Staff is always friendly and so is the community. Had a guy throw me my ball I hit into his backyard and he gave me a few extra nice balls in return
Could be a bit cheaper.
The greens were more dirt than grass. Tons of super thick grass which can hide your ball. Overall an okay course for beginners but need to be taken care of some more.
Sad how far down this course has fallwn
I hate to actually say this because I use to play this course a lot with my father when he was alive. This course has severely deteriorated . This course isn’t with almost 40 dollars to play. The staff is excellent it would be nice to see this course come back to how it use to be. I live in pflugerville so it’s close and that’s the only reason I still play it
Poor maintenance
There were fairways and greens without grass, overall the course was very dry and hard.
Nice wide open course, good for a hacker. Greens in decent shape. Paid $25 bucks with cart on Golf Now app. Definitely worth it.
Sad
I have played this course sporadically over the course of 29 years. It was never a premier course, but it was fun to play. Sadly, the course has declined to a point where I will never return. Obviously, they don't have much financial backing but there are some fundamentals that they could take care of. Such as rolling the greens. They are sparse and bumpy to the point where putting is a best guess. Lots of wash out points on the fairways and sprigs of weed grass very near to the green. Obviously there are some locals which play here and I suppose that generates enough money to keep them open. My message to the management is to have a little pride and improve your course or give it up.
