Blackhawk Golf Club
About
Blackhawk rests on the site of an old dairy farm, where the rolling terrain is suited for this links-style layout. This wide-open course features lots of water, loads of bunkers, and huge greens that are easy to three-putt if your approaches are off and you don’t have that feel for lag putting.
Each side has a punishing finishing hole. No. 9 is a monstrous par 4 that plays 464 yards. Off the tee, the narrow landing area is not conducive for the necessary booming drive, and the water causes problems in the fairway and around the green.
Hole 18 plays 430 yards, requiring a tee shot into the dogleg-right fairway that must thread two bodies of water.
The club prefers that you walk only on weekdays.
Getting there : Take I-35 north out of Austin, then exit FM 1825 east. Drive 5 miles to Hwy. 685 and turn left. Drive another 2.5 miles to Kelly Ln. and turn right.

Improved bunkers
Many (all?) of the sand traps have been converted to grassy bunkers, which is an improvement from what I remember. The sand traps didn’t drain well. But I wonder if at least a few sand traps could be restored.
Good Value
Bottomline, it was a great outing for a fun group of golfers. We just enjoy getting out and competing. That includes a great deal of ribbing each other and a few choice brews from the grill. The course was in decent shape, greens good but a little bumpy. You had to take note of the grain and play for it. A few holes were challenging and balls were sacrificed. Like any course, the more you play it the better you score by avoiding the hazards.
Not bad could of been better
Golf shop wasn’t very helpful when I checked in. Asked my name then said I was good to go and that was it. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out where the carts are but some more info when checking in would be cool. They could atleast act like they care that you are there. The course was alright and the greens werent terrible but this is the type of place that puts bandages on stuff instead of actually taking time and money to make the place look better. If you aren’t using a discount it’s not worth the price per round.
Fun easy course, wide open with occasional trees
Friendly staff, tees and fairways in great condition. Greens mostly all in great condition, a couple could use some work, but overall really enjoyed the round.
Early morning tee time
Second time playing here this year. Got off the tee first today. Fairways were decent. Greens were good. I enjoyed it.
Course is getting a lot better and greens are getting nicer
Lack of etiquette
Why have tee times if your just going to let people tee off wherever they want?? When you have the first tee time of the day and are a single and come to 10 with 2 foursomes in front of you it s ridiculous . Now understand was Wednesday so wasn’t crowded just a bunch of old members that the clubhouse let’s do as the please worse part Marshall on 3 different occasions was watching on the tee box as the foursome and myself were all on the tee box at the same time and not a word and no offer to allow me to play through won’t. Be back
Fun course
The price was good and the course was in well well-kept condition.
Somewhat disappointed
Course is in an upscale neighborhood so you would expect it to be in better condition and for the price per round. Very disappointed in the condition of the course. Not well maintained with bunkers all overgrown with weeds. No rest rooms on the course and restroom in the clubhouse is just like a gas station. Carts are not washed after use, posing a health risk. Will not be playing there again anytime soon unless there are drastic changes.
Worth playing
Has its share of challenges. Course could stand some additional dirt to fill in the fairways. I would play it again.
