The Lakes Country Club

About
The Lakes Country Club sprawls across acres of lush North Carolina countryside, offering a glimpse of the wildlife and vegetation that is unique to Boiling Springs Lakes. Being the oldest golf course in Brunswick County, it has become a local favorite over the years. The course is a manageable 6,700 yards from the tips, making it approachable enough for less experienced players. While it is not the most formidable challenge it is enjoyable for a range of skill levels. As the golf course's name would imply, there are numerous lakes that come into play often, especially on the front nine. There are also strategically placed bunkers throughout. The Lakes C.C. is popular for being not only a player-friendly, well maintained golf course but also being one of the best values in the area.

The Lakes were a GREAT start up again for me..!
I set up to play the Lakes course not becuase of the difficulty or the pace...or any really of the stars....I set it up becuase my friend who is in his 80's can't play golf anymore and he went with me and rode around on the cart.
Now also this was the first time I had lifted a golf club in three years due to being out of the country and work. So I was excited just to get out on the course and strike the ball again. I played about as well as I expected and also felt I improved as I went along then tailed off at the end becuase I was tired...but it was a GREAT time and Great fellowship and the STAFF could not have been better.
Some good points about the course....they are building a new club house it looks like and I think people will enjoy the beauty of it once again.
Great long course
Thanks, it was great to play there. Found it on tee off app while evacuating hurricane at home. Would definitely go back again.
Fun day of Golf
A nice warm day for a round of golf at a welcoming course. All the greens but one were in excellent condition. Most of the fairways were in good condition except for three that were very rough.
All the tee boxes were in great shape.
The cold beer at the clubhouse was a delicious bargain!
Upgrades coming - hopefully
This is a good local course that needs significant turf work in the fairways. Course layout is challenging. Hopefully, in time, the new owners will be able to make the needed improvements.
Coming back to life
The new owner is putting a lot of effort into turning this course around. The course is well designed with a lot of doglegs that will make you really think about your shot shapes. The turf is coming in nicely this year. There are still some patches on the fairways and greens but nothing that would take away from being an enjoyable round. The new clubhouse looks like it is near the final stages of completion, also. I personal like this course and consider it a hidden gem that is only going to get better. This is a course that is on my list to play whenever I visit area
Inexpensive but not worth it
First time playing this course and it will most likely be my last. I don’t know if the course is usually in the condition that it is. There is a lot of missing grass on the fairways and tee boxes. Different types of grass over taking fairways and about 12” high. You can play other course for for an additional $20 or less and the courses are in way better condition. Good place for beginners to go out and play. Super friendly and helpful staff, I like the layout but just in tough shape.
Excellent staff and nice golfers
First time playing the course the staff was very friendly and helpful. I played as a single and the groups ahead of me allowed me to play through with a smile and how are you nice shot type of interactions which was great!! The course had sanded the greens and did have some GUR which was explained to me initially and was totally fine. I really enjoyed playing a new course and look forward to playing it again and seeing new clubhouse. Cheers!
Long day
Had a tee time for 10:03. Got there at 9:40 but couldn't tee off until 10:30. Over 3 hours to get through 11 holes and finally said Uncle, and went home. Had played before and expected the poor course conditions. Understand that everyone pays the greens fees but shouldn't entitle them to a 5.5 hr round and put that pace on the rest of the customers.
Challenging back 9
Amazing value for the money. Really friendly staff. Greens were in great shape, some tee boxes need help but see that they in the middle of fixing that already.
The Lakes
The staff is very friendly and accommodating, unfortunately, this course needs a lot of work! The fairway were spotty with patchy grass and um level, needs a lot of fill dirt to level off. Greens have been punched and sanded and may come in pretty nice eventually. To their credit, the Staff did recognize course conditions were pretty bad and informed me before I played, but even still, it was almost unplayable … especially for the $40 green fee. I hope they continue working on it because it could be a pretty nice track. For now, it’s just not worth playing.
Waste of money
This place is a dump. Theres more sand on the greens than in the bunkers. Fairways looked like they've never seen water. Course layout on almost all of the holes is just straight.
