The Lakes Country Club

About
The Lakes Country Club sprawls across acres of lush North Carolina countryside, offering a glimpse of the wildlife and vegetation that is unique to Boiling Springs Lakes. Being the oldest golf course in Brunswick County, it has become a local favorite over the years. The course is a manageable 6,700 yards from the tips, making it approachable enough for less experienced players. While it is not the most formidable challenge it is enjoyable for a range of skill levels. As the golf course's name would imply, there are numerous lakes that come into play often, especially on the front nine. There are also strategically placed bunkers throughout. The Lakes C.C. is popular for being not only a player-friendly, well maintained golf course but also being one of the best values in the area.

A soggy front nine
It was cart path only on the front nine after the heavy rains at the beginning of the week. We were ok to take the carts onto the grass the back nine.back nine the greens were in excellent condition. Except for some standing water the majority of the fairways were in pretty good condition. They are working on some of the tee boxes, and hopefully they are planning to improve a few more.
We were behind a foursome that were a bit slow and it would have.been nice for them to allow others to play through. Even so, it was an enjoyable round and we are planning to return again sometime this year.
19th hole offers good cold micro brews on draft!
Great greens; challenging layout.
Challenging layout with lots of doglegs and some long par threes. Greens are small, but in great shape. Fairways need some work, but if you move your ball a foot to some good grass you will be rewarded with some interesting approach shots. Target golf required as the main defense of this course is the tight tree-lined fairways with sandy waste areas on each side. Also, great IPA on tap for only $4.50 a pint!! I have played this course every year for 30 years. Always fun, and a great value.
WORST COURSE IVE EVER PLAYED
Man, worst condition course I’ve ever played. Staff was friendly that’s it. So bad I left after 9 holes. HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND
Great Course
I’d play this course again. Busy Saturdays, wondering if they have a less busy time during the week.
Fun day at the Lakes
This was our first time playing this course and we plan to return again. We thought that it was a good value for the cost to play.
The ball rolled smoothly on the greens. The layout of the course was interesting and pleasing to my eye. Most holes offer wide, open landing areas.
Some of the fairways do need attention.
The 19th hole offered cold domestic and craft brews that could be enjoyed in a shaded outside area.
No farways played off sand tee blocks were so bad. To long for woman to play.
One large sand trap…
Course was in horrible shape. Apparently, it hasn’t been watered this year. One big sand trap which resulted in little or no roll. I do not recommend it.
Rough shape
Course was in very poor shape. Many areas had no grass and that included the tee boxes. Cigarette butts all over the course including the greens. We had a group of 6 was in front of us. No Marshall so it took 40 minutes to play the first 2 holes! Do not recommend.
Nice staff and great community
Had some really slow people in front of us but the people behind me were awesome and fun to talk too, pro shop staff was awesome. Still had a great time!! Will be back
Wet on front but greens nice
Cart path only on front with about 3 really wet holes. Greens all in amazing shape. Back 9 dry and nice.
Course value for the money
Greens, fairways, and tee boxes were in great shape for the cost of the course. For those who say it’s in bad conditions you can’t compare this to a $200 green fee course. For $39 I’d play this course over and over for practice.
Nice getaway
Staff is great. Course in good condition for the time of year. Serious value for the money spent. Carts & clubhouse need a serious upgrade. Would recommend to anyone wanting to play in the area.
